- With unseasonably cold conditions, Mark is on the back-foot from the outset of this episode of The Challenge! Add to that he has to catch three carp on three different tactics and one has to be over the magical 30lb barrier. Of course, Harry is up to his usual tricks and puts a spanner in the works instantly with a major plot twist! You can expect, plenty of laughs and some amazing looking carp in this episode! I was looking at this exact venue only yesterday whilst trying to find some new local lakes to possibly fish. Living pretty local this has really sparked my interest even more.
West and South Wales is now getting a pretty good amount of Carp and Course fishing lakes as a whole which is fantastic.
After moving to wales over 20 years ago I actually gave up fishing for good few years (even with a beach over the road) due to the lack of good course angling as just about every river and lake ( or llyn) was trout and salmon only.
I would love to see more welsh waters highlighted in future.

Its been over a year since i last fished due to a work related metal breakdown that caused me to loose intrest in basicly everything gonna find a place and get them rods back in :)
@@MacAttackYT I’m really sorry to hear about that, I can relate and sympathise with what you have been through mate. But, trust me, get your gear out of the shed, head off to a nice quiet venue even just for a few hours, ideally a venue where you’re going to get a bend in the rod, and you will feel a lot better. They are the Explorer in 3.25 test curve. Amazing rods and can really hold fish well around snags, as you can see from the film!

Mark would you please, humble humble, consider Birkenhead Park (bottom pond) as one of your 3 options in a challenge. It is a hard water to fish when targeting and I would love to see how you'd manage. There are doubles, twenties and a couple of thirties. So Harry could design a challenge around those numbers. I hope you check it out and have a go. Tight lines Mark...

If the lakes rules also included what bait to use how many casts you are aloud you would basically be paying for taking orders !!! Fish safety is easy to achieve without the over the top excessive rules.
You must use braided leaders combined with lead free leaders and a minimum of 0.400 line and must eject the lead on the take ???
What if you want to fish a running rig or a Korda heli safe ?
There is no room really for improvement or freedom to develop your skills/approach towards the venue which makes it less appealing. I guarantee people get funny liners and triple beeps blaming it on liners or smaller fish but really the fish has shaking the rig.

Ps fishing fluorocarbon at 0.33 or higher has much better abrasive resistance than 100lb braid look up tests on TH-cam.

Unlikely.. but not impossible. Should the mainline for some reason break, than the fish is left with the snagleader, the leadfree leader and rig! In that case it doesn’t even matter if the lead is off the clip, the fish will still drag a hella lot of leader with it.

That was a funny story about the 3 rods but you should never leave rods unattended full stop if it was my lake they would be banned for life and it is a EA rule that you are no more than 10ft away from your furthest rod,regardless of fishery rules,if 1 of them rods went screaming off it could have resulted in a dead carp
