      You can buy slide on campers bro, you can get tax back on trucks in most countries and you can put a empty cab on the back to use for tools or a faux-SUV... go do it... dooo iiiiiit

    I’ve always liked the wide body cab. Would look so good with a bed if they could clean up the side steps and tuck up the stuff below the frame so you didn’t need semi style side skirts for a clean look.

    Couldn’t agree more! The old Topkick and Kodiak trucks had bigger cabs. Squeezing little crew cabs on these is a mistake. They already have a lot more room, why put such a small cab on it? Also an air ride option would help a LOT. These things are ridiculous rough riding if they don’t have 2000# on the rear axles. I mean they are jarring with just a flat bed. Unacceptable.
    That and good tow rating, these would sell very well as camper pullers. I’d say as well as they do for medium duty utility and dump trucks. Looked at them myself but found them falling way short in ride, towing capacity, and creature comforts.
    Great vid pointing it out, hopefully GM has eyes and ears!

    I've got a 22 Silverado 5500 and I'm not going to lie, it's been a bit of a problematic truck for me. Hopefully it lasts awhile, I'm in to it about $120k

    I wish they would put upfitter switches in the 2500/3500 like ford does with there's. Fix the transmission options and it would open a whole new market for the RV industry!

    Nice video. This is an actual medium duty working truck. That’s why it’s designed the way it is as far as the chassis goes. Straight frame rails for mounting utility/tool beds on. Towing is not real high on the list for these types of trucks although I think it has a decent rating.
    Of course we all know it’s made by International with the previous generation GM cabs. So hopefully they will refresh these trucks and add the 2020+ cabs and that will make a big difference for these trucks.
    But again, these are made to be actual working trucks. They would also be a good chassis for an RV in my opinion.

    Towing capacity would be very nice. However, I would worry about snow swirling up and potentially plugging up or getting items wet like the batteries. There was an item that looked like it was a fan or vented underneath (could not tell for sure) that definitely would plug up with snow even going down the road. Bet it would be tough to keep that object clear of mud also. You live in the country with lots of snow it could be a problem. I like how it sits up higher. I would add I prefer white over black. You have a rig sitting outside it can get really hot inside. Do see potential for hauling hay out to cattle (but you would need a round bale hook and roll system mounted - no problem) so you can feed. I prefer large square bales but that is hard to feed with one person.

    actually think if that thing were lowered 6-7" and had a pickup bed, along with a High Country interior, it would be an amazing custom cruiser dually.

    Please keep trying to find updated 55 or 6500s that have the L5 P G2 upgraded items in the L5 D and I don’t understand why they don’t have adaptive cruise as an offering for these medium duty trucks. They definitely need to refresh the interior and exterior.

    I might be wrong but I think the 2024 Ford 550 XLT comes with adaptive cruise control. Be interested to compare that to the Chevy 5500 interior

    F450 with a HO for RV towing. This truck is more of a wrecker with a rollback rig or small dump bed.

    3pc System Balance Driveshafts are mean. The baby shaft (rear shaft, connected to the mama) is a pain to balance.

    I own a 2018 f550 4 wheel drive flatbed and a 2022 Chevrolet 5500 4 wheel drive medium duty with air cab installed and the f550 rides like a Cadillac compared to Chevy!!

    The problem with these is the wheel cut angle on the 4wd models. The Ford and Ram turn a lot tighter.

    Nice truck. You mentioned it was a basic interior. They are designed for work in places like mechanics yard, maybe small mining area's or for mechanics to go to mining area's, carting heavy weights on back, carrying welding equipment etc. Ya don't exactly need wet muddy boots getting carpets dirty. Being a work vehicle, ya only need basic dash read outs as ya going to be in and out of the vehicle quite a bit. It would look better with 20 or 22 inch wheels on it. I would like that or the 6500 hd with tip tray (i think they're called dump trays in America) on the back. It would have to be right hand drive for here in New Zealand though.

      There are plenty of 550/5500 trucks sold these days for pulling 5th wheels, horses, race cars, and as welding rigs. Most of those customers would spec a premium interior. I think Ram is leaving money on the table not offering a 5500 Mega Cab.

    First off, the cab is from the K2XX trucks from 2014-2018. The chassis is much higher off the ground than the competitors namely the Ford 550 and Ram 5500. This is very inconvenient for most upfits. Having the DEF tank on the opposite side is flat out stupid. The DEF fill is too small to accept a diesel nozzle so that theory is out the window. However; it’s still very possible to fill the fuel tank with DEF, which is the very expensive mistake. I like the tilt forward hood, and the styling is good…unlike the current hideous Chevy HDs. But these trucks ride poorly compared to the coil spring Ford and RAM 550/5500. And they don’t offer any real advantages either, plus diesel-only.

    That’s crazy 5500 6 speed $80k nice truck but not worth it for the hauling business. I have a 3500HD 6.6 Duramax 1000 Allison transmission 6 speed has been a blessing in my hotshot business.

    Ground clearance is completely killed by the super low hanging transfer case. Easy to get high centered on anything.

    Because the Turbo chokes on air! Lame, this creates so much Engine Heat! Easy fix, get more air to the turbo, it has a big enough air box, so yeah get the volume of air up and this will be a dream machine. GET AIR SUSPENSION SEATS!!!

    NOTE: The 4500, 5500, and 6500, ALL have the real Allison Transmission / Duramax combo, not that lame fake STAMPED Allison-approved transmission in the 3400, & 3500, that is lame right! The 10-speed / Fake Allison transmission is already showing huge torque conversion issues!

    Compare that to a new f600…step up above a 550…still a small cab which is great to work with daily and adds more than a 550…that’s your next segment

    You will never see a 20 to 30,000 pound tow capacity on those trucks. This truck was designed for landscapers towns, municipalities, and other construction industry, where they need trucks that are under CDL yet heavy enough to be stable towing and capable of hauling heavier things. And most of them want 4wd with that. A Duramax is a light duty engine. There are plenty of trucks much more capable of towing. They would have an in-line six and a commercial Allison like a 3000 series. They would also be 2 Wheel Dr. and have 22.5 tires at that weight ,you want airbrakes because you are in CDL territory anyway, these trucks are pretty expensive to maintain. I prefer a Lo-Pro airbrake truck with a 6.7 Cummins. It’s a much better setup. This thing is a Chevy cabin and engine transmission, on a beefy international chassis. The chassis is much more capable than a Ford 550. This is a much heavier duty set up. Personally, I would skip this entire truck. I don’t like the Duramax V-8 in a big truck.

    To bad everyone’s buying the fords 🇺🇸 I saw one of these a company bought to spray stuff that knocks the ammonia down at the farm. They only have one and a lot full of f650s and 750s. Dude said he’d rather drive the ford even if it had not radio or a/c.

    in 2022 i had the international CV and the ram 5500 going head to head for my business. Ended up going with the ram 5500 limited for our welding rig. To me Ram currently is destroying the competition in the med duty sector with the ability to spec out a limited, and even the payload and towing numbers are on par or a bit better than GM or Ford. For me the CV international is the only one i could stomach appearence wise. The silverado front end is disgusting, and the dated cabs were bad when they came out in 2015 ( had a 2015 denali dually) nice truck, but still just not quite on par with Ram. I feel the ram 5500 while is still a big truck, i see no reason to go to this massive GM/CV 5500 when the ram can get the same job done in a smaller, higher end quality package.

    The failure of GM here is this truck is only rated at 30-35K GVW🐩
    The 450 and 550 Dually has a higher GVW!

      Everyone does that. My 2011 freightliner business class m2 106 with 33000 gvwr has a cummins isb with about 250hp and 520 lbs of torque. We have 2 caterpillar c7 with similar numbers and weight capacities as well. They detune the medium duty trucks for longevity.

    Just completely go back to GM, Chevrolet and Ram dude. You go back and forth from Ford more than anyone I know ! 😂 Please do NOT take this as a racist, evil or trolling type comment at all but I have a question. Why do black people (for the majority) love GM, Chevy and Ram trucks when mechanically Fords are superior ? It makes no sense.

If you don’t work as a technician for a dealer when they have the 3 brands, then you don’t know a thing, fords power strokes get towed in to the dealer like any other brand specially for engine issues, and you said ford is mechanically superior??
