Hey, love your videos! I wasn’t familiar with this adaptation but I got mad just hearing about it lol. You made some great points here. Happy Christmas!

I agree with you. I've enjoyed every adaptation, from the Muppets to Alistair Sims, but not this one. This is a horrible version. The SA aspect was disgusting. In this story, Scrooge didn't deserve redemption. In the book, he was a lonely miser who lost his way after losing his sister, who he had loved, but one never truly felt he was evil, Dickens didn't write him that way. He'd just built walls and didn't let people get close, he'd shut out life and happiness, replacing it with money and greed. He wasn't a perverted piece of scum. Even if there had been self discovery and the meaning of christmas was explored, Scrooge was so despicable it wouldn't have felt genuine.

    1. In the original story, Marley was fucked regardless. He was doomed to walk the Earth, condemned to witness but not be able to intervene. That fact to me has always been key. Marley got nothing out of the deal
    2. In Dickens' book Scrooge was a miser, a loner, kind of an asshole, but he wasn't straight up evil. This version turns Dickens into a straight up villain if memory serves, and it really undermines the story imho
