4:20 Miku explains gekidou = ...erschütterung (vibration) in German = turbulence.
    5:40 Omajinai Time
    8:17 𝗗𝗜𝗖𝗘
Regarding GEKIDO in German. I suggested to her before the show (during Meet&Greet) that is should be Umbruch (gave her a piece of paper, where I tried to reproduce the sound with katakana), but it seems she went to Google Translate and tried to find something on her own. Umbruch was consulted upon with Germans, and they confirmed that it's a good translation. On the other hand, erschütterung is sort of "shake your body" thing. Could be good for a song chorus, but that's not GEKIDO.

Akane has always been the anchor of Band Maid's sound and she never overplays her parts, just a steady driving beat with amazing foot pedal work. She syncs up with bad @ss Misa so well, and along with Kanami's amazing guiltar work makes for a potent trio of musical awesomeness. Saiki has an amazingly powerful voice accompanied with Miku's lovely voice harmonizing with her, which makes Band Maid the best band going.

Akane has been praised by Jimmy Page, legendary Led Zepplin guitarist, as one of the best drummers performing today. He praised Band Maid, even flew to Tokyo to see them perform and meet them in person. He was right in his praise. They're a great band, not just a "girl band,". but a GREAT band. Along with Love Bites, Japan's female bands are now the best in the world. Right on!

Couldn't agree more....there are tons of modern drummers who play relentless double kick and it's really just annoying...Akane's foot work is inventive and musical and always 'Right' for the song....plus she really seems like a sweetheart!!!...

My favorite thing about this is how the other band members actually pay attention to Akane's solo. Misa putting her head in front of the bass drum is pretty humorous, and they found a good way to cool down and rest between songs. What a unique band. I can't think of a rock band that works harder. Love 'em all.

He mind works differently from the drummers I have known before. I consider it to be some specific feature of female mind: it's more... mmm... "branched" ? Something like this. There are quite a few female drummers, especially in Japan, which demonstrate a very creative style of drumming. There is a 12-year-old girl, Sora, who drums with the same creativity as Akane. You may check, for example, her covers of After Life or Black Hole:
      BAND-MAID / After Life [drum cover] 『sora 12years old』: th-cam.com/video/KQVE-L8UF30/w-d-xo.html
      BAND-MAID / BLACK HOLE [drum cover] 『sora 12years old』: th-cam.com/video/HY8yox-29zo/w-d-xo.html
Sincerely, I don't understand how a human being can do such things. Akane is not human, she's half-gorilla, OK. But who's Sora? Also half-human, it's clear...

After yet another viewing of this remarkable video, I noticed a small detail I totally missed before. When Miku finishes her magnetic, delightful exchange with the audience, a stage hand appears and hands Miku her guitar. Rock musicians typically expect this support when exchanging guitars, but commonly simply take the guitar and turn back to audience, as if the stage hand didn't exist. Miku looks directly at the stage hand, smiles and nods her head in gratitude, as she takes the guitar and pick. This may seem like a small, insignificant gesture, but to me, this speaks volumes about Miku's character, sincerity, humility, class, elegance. As a old 70 year old Texas cowboy farmer, I find Miku's charm, beauty is only the surface for her depth of character, social demeanor, intelligence, and sincerity..This deepens my respect for Miku and Band Maid, even more. What amazing ladies, not only beautiful, but also models of character class, humility, as well as exemplary talent and creative virtuosity. I look forward to when these amazing, lovely ladies can resume live performances and global touring. What an amazing band!

Well, it's not just some random guy, but Mr. Daisuke Kondo, a guy who can play anything, and from whom Kanami has got her current PRS guitar (the grey one). It seems this grey PRS is better than all her own models. So, I guess they must be very close friends. After all, there are only two men who accompany them on all tours, Daisuke-san, and that boy with partially bleached hair, who seems to be not a musician.

    • @Lpmgato1
      @Lpmgato1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +24

@@VladimirChupin Thanks for this update. Mr. Kondo is indeed a unique gentleman, indeed. That said, I was impressed by Miku's courtesy. Friends should indeed be so considerate of each other. I noticed Mr. Kondo also is alert to move guitar connecting cable wire, as the ladies move around, very necessary for safety and musical continuity. I'm glad to know of the friendship and trust between Band Maid ladies and the two men who accompany and assist them. Speaks well for all of them.

Huge concerts with 60,000 people are epic, of course ... but those smaller gigs with just a few hundred people are so great, because they are really personal. Noone who has been there will ever forget that evening. I love how they don't simply work through their program, but really take some time to relax and goof around between songs ... and don't care, if it takes 30 minutes or an hour longer.
Miku is so good at these interludes, she is truly a natural entertainer. And it's so cute how the others just relax, have a drink or chat a bit, while she does her thing.
.... And then they grab their weapons and turn into rock warriors again. Magnificent.

Exactly. I call it "Music 2.0" The reason BAND-MAID is so good live, is because they are not just playing out there in the distance. They engage the crowd into the process, they encourage people to sing along, and look very happy when the fans do. Language barrier was a problem for me at their concerts in Japan, but in Europe Miku was speaking a pretty understandable English last time. I believe they have improved their English-speaking skills even more during the lockdown. Kanami now makes the posts in Twitter in English, that's very kind of her...

Maybe the guy, who started shouting, didn´t know , because at the most reaction videos, people from Britain and the States speak the vowels like they learned it. @VladimirChupin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@mompracem01 It's the sound which the pigeons make in Japanese. Like, cats say "nya," and pigeons say "po."
Miku was singing that "the most important Japanese song," Hato Po Po in these European concerts. You may listen to the original of this song here: th-cam.com/video/mdNT8TK0SVo/w-d-xo.html
      Miku is a Little Pigeon. KO-BATO = [ko = small] + [hato/bato = pigeon].
She made this gimmick into a very extensive story. Her solo project, cluppo, is actually pronounced "kuruppo," which is another sound the Japanese pigeons make.
"Now, Miku found a way to invent a new alter ego for herself as a contrast to her usual maid image. Also, calling herself “cluppo”, a name that twists her signature catchphrase “kuruppo” by adding “CLUCK” to the pigeon coo of “PO, PO, PO”."

She's great indeed. They are all great. That's why they are so great as a band.
When I think of various musical groups, usually if a band is noticeable, it means there are at least two great musicians in it. One great musician is not enough, most probably that band will pass unnoticed. Although there are some rare exceptions, of course.
In BAND-MAID, there are three great musicians-Misa, Akane, and Kanami. Misa is really one of the best bass players in the history of rock, Akane is the best drummer (in my humble opinion, she is better than John Bonham; it's just my estimation, of course; at least, she's still alive :-) Kanami is probably not as great as Jimmy Page or Zakk Wylde, but she's better than Santana, better than Mark Knopfler, better than Angus Young, and many other guitarists with big names (again IMHO).
Then, we have Saiki, who is not as great as, say, Robert Plant, but she sings at a pretty decent level.
And then Miku, who is not a great musician, but a great entertainer. If she learns English well, I'm sure that will be a tipping point for their World Domination struggle.
I think that is the reason why BAND-MAID strikes so deeply. Just too much sheer manpower :-)

    • @David-yt6kp
      @David-yt6kp 4 ปีที่แล้ว +14

@@VladimirChupin If I can respectfully disagree without sounding argumentative, I think Miku IS a great musician. She may not be the instrumentalist(yet) that Misa, Kanami, and Akane are, but that is different from her musicianship. All lyrics come from Miku, and all vocal arrangements come from Miku and Saiki. Her backup vocals are spot on, and she is a good rhythm guitarist that is getting better every year. Also, ask any working musician about playing and singing at the same time. It nearly doubles the difficulty, and Miku is the only one in the band who does it throughout the concert. Just my thoughts.

    • @VladimirChupin

@@David-yt6kp We speak here of the degrees of greatness :-) Miku would look OK in many other "average" bands... but against the background of MAK trinity (MISA-Akane-Kanami), she stands out as a person of an entirely different nature :-)

I'm listening now to the Melkweg recordings. It was an unforgettable experience for me, but to be honest, we the fans were not up to the task. It's very important to scream as much as possible, sing along, and cheer the band as much as possible, then they become inspired, and deliver much better performance. I hope you in NYC and elsewhere in US will not fail them! Check out the Hamburg show, that's where we did it all well. Despite the very harsh physical conditions, we filled that tiny room with so much energy, we felt like one unified whole with the band. I sincerely wish you the mind-blowing gig!
Learn the lyrics, that helps a lot. Without even understanding them, just the sound. If you can sing along, that will evoke so many smiles from Saiki, you'll never forget it :-)

But truth be told, your videos are actually top notch, and I keep coming back to rewatch the ones from Melkweg. So many minor details that you managed to catch on camera that would be lost (for example when Akane drops one drumstick during Dice and kept playing with only one hand while reaching out for another one).
So, this is just my way to say thanks. Next time I go to a Band Maid concert in Europe I expecto to see your cell phone high up there knowing that I'll have plenty of great videos to watch afterwards.

@@mad0gre I was browsing through the comments, and just saw your note :-)
It makes me very sad when I think that I may be a nuisance for other fans at a concert. But I can't help, I feel I MUST record all that is happening there. I wonder why the girls themselves do not arrange for that. No one is getting younger, in some 10 years, they will not be able to deliver that energy anymore. All these live shows of the past will become a legend by then.
Look at the live recordings of Led Zeppelin, for example, or Deep Purple, how much they are appreciated now. And the girls are very careful in making each live show unique and unforgettable. They add the intros, insert guitar/bass battles in the middle, etc. etc. But all this hard work is like the sand paintings of the street artists: they are fleeting, and if they are not recorded, they just dissipate in the air.
For example, that tapping contest between MISA and Kanami at the beginning of CLANG ( th-cam.com/video/IeYSfCcV13o/w-d-xo.html ). They didn't play it during US Tour! And as far as I understand, there will be no live Blu-Ray or DVD from that period. Which means, most of the fans, who did not attend the live shows in the first half of 2019, would never even learn about this thing, if it would not be for the fancams...

Drum solo!"
