She wasnt choking. Any one who's had any medical training knows if a person is coughing its not choking. My husband is a fire medic and he trained me for CPR certification every 2 years and that's one thing he always told me. "If a person is coughing they are not choking"

TheSonnyworld That's not what LA County placed on their test cuz I use to think the same thing and they kept correcting me a million times cuz I felt so sure I was right but apparently the county knows better lol. They told me a person is incapable of coughing during choking. Which they are right. I choked on a hard candy life saver last year and it had a small airway. Even with that small air way I couldnt cough. You don't have enough air to suck in to even force a cough.
S F yea who knows anymore...I'm just stating what on my test every 2 years lol. Lots of things do change. for example, we don't need to use chest compressions anymore during CPR and they have been changing every year. But they havent changed the whole coughing thing yet lol.

Now you're not even suppose to do the Heimlich anymore unless it's a last resort. We're back to back blows now. Of course this is really confusing to people who don't keep up on first aid. Decades ago back blows were taught. Then the Heimlich came about and it was taught that back blows were ineffective. Now it's back blows first again because the Heimlich can cause serious injury.
It's back blows first. If that's proving ineffective then you switch to the Heimlich. But only five abdominal thrusts. You want to do 5 and 5. Five back blows, five thrusts, five back blows, five thrusts.

You're not supposed to give the Heimlich maneuver if someone is coughing. Only when they can't make a sound while not breathing. If they are coughing that means air is still getting through their trachea. Basic first aid.

If she was actually choking there would have been no air in or out she would have been silent I worked in a restaurant for 17 years and between me and my coworkers we have actually saved a total of 8 people from choking and there was no air flow no coughing none of that so I call bullshit on this one...lol you can cough and had on foods but that was not life threatening and there was no real Heimlich maneuver performed there I train for it every year sometimes twice a year and like I said I've been in the restaurant business for 17 years seen a total of at least 8 people saved from the Heimlich maneuver who were actually choking to death I myself only saved two people one was an old man and the other was a nine year old boy and never once did any of the people who were actually choking cough like that they literally went silent and started turning blue.... now jen had something go down the wrong pipe maybe, but she wasnt dying.
