Later in the episode for Brennan he gets "Australian Spanish Teacher" and he acts very stereotypical. Then in a nice call back to giving points to Brennan for "catching (Sam) being reductive" he gives Brennan points again for "being reductive"

Yeaaaa he doesn't care about stereotypes.
He also did a reversal when he played a communist. Rather than being a Russian he was an obnoxious American college student communist. Although I think he was trying to play it serious, as if communism should be taken seriously.

I get it doesn't fit the prompt. But the first brennan clip always feels incomplete without Brennan later impersonating an Australian and Sam once again giving him points for "being reductive". So he got points for catching Sam being reductive and being reductive.
There's no corner in his heart he wouldn't turn in for 5 points
Brennan’s morals are not to catch people out on being reductive. Brennan’s morals are to WIN.
To be fair a North Dakotan stereotype is much more obscure that Aussie stereotypes. People don't think about North Dakotans enough for one to manifest
The North Dakotan bit hits so close to home lmfao. I got sent to Minot after joining the AF. Half the people I’ve talked to here were also originally from the east coast 💀
Yea honestly it seemed normal to me, that's what a lot of folks are like there. I didn't even consider the stereotype until Sam got called out about it.
I'm glad they're pushing back on little things like this against the middle of the country. Usually those folks (and the south) are always open season to make fun of. Which is fine, but they don't seem to want to mock the coastal elites with the same fervor.

2-3 tablespoons is just the part that is actual blood. You also have the endometrium that is shedding.
I thought of the “point to where Sam’s really from” **points to Africa** “we all are”
Zac Oyama, one of the good ones.
“not all men?” they’re right. zac oyama would never.
The other angle is the youtuber live streaming their blood donation and encouraging their viewers to also donate
Especially since you could argue that a typical period doesn't involve loosing a lot of blood (in fact most of it is endometrial tissue), but a blood donation is hitting the amount that is safe to take

I do want to mention that we do not loose that much blood on our period (it is mostly fluids tinted with blood), but we do lose flesh as the uterine lining sheds every since month in preparation for pregnancy. The shedding is where the blood comes from and what causes the pain. Fun fact the terrible smell comes from a hormone being released that CAUSES YOUR BODY TO DECOMPOSE! Guys will never know how it feels to pee chunks. Yes I am a woman that also happened to take domestic animal reproduction as an elective (restricted) in college. Knowledge is power right? 😬

Edit: since people comment about it, yes, yes it´s not normal and I know that and so does my doctor and I obviously didn´t keep this to myself. You don´t need to tell me to get help, I have common sense. But my point stands. He didn’t do funny accent 😔
I don't think I would have given Brennan the point on the technicality that he said he "moved here [North Dakota] three years ago" so he is not truly a North Dakotan
If you're living in a state, you're a member of that state. That's the technicality. There's no such thing as a "North Dakotan" by blood or birth. Some people have just been their longer or shorter than others. It's not an ethnicity.
The *dab* was excellent 😂
An excessive blood loss amount of points for all the period-havers out there
AKA "women"
I'm gonna be honest, I don't think Brennan deserved the point for "North Dakotan" considering the fact that, in attempting to not engage in stereotype, his whole bit was, "I'm not from North Dakota, and I could totally leave more often."
But if the character moved to North Dakota 3 years ago, he is presumably a permanent resident and thus is legally a North Dakotan
@generalcodsworth4417 perhaps, legally. I'm not actually sure how that works while staying in the same country. Maybe something like a driver's license would be the best indicator? I'm not sure if that works differently in the States. Regardless, I think that the wistful, "could be more," implies that the character does not consider himself a North Dakotan. That being said, you make a good point, I didn't think about that.
LISAAAAAAAAA!!! The QUEEN!!!! She should’ve just WON RIGHT THEN AND THERE!!! YASSSSS!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😂
For an extremely heavy period you can expel ~100 mL of blood. For comparison, a typical blood donation is 500 mL which is also about the amount needed for lightheadedness (although many people won't even notice unless they are particularly sensitive).
1:04 Why did she make having a period sound like an activity though? 😂
Would period amounts of blood constitute "a lot of blood"? I mean, I feel like because it's a relatively routine thing it can't really be said to be "a lot of blood" unless you're having a phenomenally heavy period.
depends on the person. Many women struggle with anemia because their flow is very high. So yes they loose a lot of blood every period.
Also the pain
As a friendly education for my fellows out there: we don't lose that much blood on our period, and definitely not "a lot," even if it appears that way. It's typically no more than half a cup total unless you are a very rare part of the population. Perhaps a better option to fit the "a lot" phrase would have been while donating blood, which takes a lot more and a lot more quickly than our cycles do. ☺️
Speak for yourself I’m bleeding out my man it’s my period wow I feel real woozy may be I should ca
Not true. It's way more then a rare part of the population. Many experience heavy bleeding either at a certain point of their life or their entire lives. Especially if not on birth control, birth control helps lightening periods a lot for people that use it.
@@SohiHienI guess this is up to interpretation, but when I hear "losing a lot of blood" I envision enough blood loss that it's a medical emergency
Reeeeaally think she misconstrued the point of "losing a lot of blood". pretty sure that prompt was about rapidly losing an amount of blood that would require hospitalization
This is the hottest Brennan has ever been. But his personality in this episode is kind of gross.
Isn’t the average blood loss from menstruation like 60 milliliters?
I’d hardly call that “a lot”
Nice try, but this is 'Make Some Noise', not 'Um, Actually'.
I'd argue that "losing blood" has the connotation that your body isn't naturally expelling it. Like I don't "lose" a wrapper for my candy if I throw it away on purpose. It wasn't misplaced. It is funny when they put the prompt right back on Sam, I'd just argue that it doesn't actually get the point in this instance.
If you really want to be pedantic about it, the blood is not intended to be expelled - the thing that is supposed to exit is the uterine lining, but that bleeds when it tears off.
Sir, this is Make Some Noise. Um, Actually is a different show.
"A lot" is subjective, I guess. I would consider a lot of blood to be enough to cause dizziness or unconsciousness, even death, but sure a small smear on a napkin can be "a lot" too.
Periods cause intense pain, nausea, etc in many women. So yeah less blood, but similarly painful and debilitating effects
@@lj-iv5rx
Half a litre or more is more what I was referring to by enough to cause unconsciousness and death. I don't believe the two quantities are similar enough in that regard but, again, "a lot" is still subjective.
I'm disappointed, but not at all surprised, that clips of that bit always have a bunch of dudes commenting on what they think counts as 'a lot of blood' like they think it matters or something
Not to be a pedant, but being on your period is not "losing a lot of blood" if you're losing a lot of blood on your period you need to see a doctor.
"Not to be a pedant, but here's a really pedantic point that misses that deliberate comic hyperbole."
@@johnmartinez7440 please get over yourself. It is a common misconception that menstrual fluid is/is mostly blood. I understood joke, I thought it was funny, I even expected it. I knew a lot of people growing up who thought it was perfectly normal to feel light headed and anemic on their periods because they were "losing blood right? that's normal". The joke is funny, but it's still misinformation; I thought someone should at least point that out.
On average it's like 60ml, not "a lot"
Oh I have heavier nosebleeds every now and then
But is it "a lot" of blood?
Im sorry I'll defend women on like 90% of period issues but "a lot" is being fucking stretched here
So, not a woman, but, isn't a period like a couple of tablespoons of blood over several days? I can see why it would be painful, and I can see why it would make you anaemic, etc. but it's not "a lot" of blood. When you give blood, you give a pint. 568ml. Or about 37 tablespoons and I think it's clear that this is supposed to be more than that.
There's a lot of comments from women that are saying it's not *that* much blood, but the bit was clearly meant as exaggeration and spiting Sam, so I don't think anyone minds. Just a little period fun fact from the commenters, which is shockingly wholesome for the context and comments sections in general.
I wish mine was only a couple of tablespoons. Also remember periods happen at least once a month, you don't donate blood monthly.
Not to be the annoying biologist, but "Losing a lot of blood" during a period is quite the overstatement. I mean, we're talking like 120ml during the whole period, at MOST.
thats still more a lot more blood than the average person would lose otherwise
@@duckytape8586 yes, but still an entirely unnoticeable amount, given that it's over several days. When donating blood, they take over 500 ml in one sitting, and most people are relatively unaffected even by that
@@frejgammelgard5519 but do you give blood monthly? 12+ times a year?
I mean, I give blood maybe 6 times a year, so yeah, that's about 5 times more blood than the average person would lose during a year of periods (about 60 ml per period)@@SohiHien . But that's also not that important, because your blood regenerates pretty quickly both during and after a period, which means you never have a noticable blood loss.
@@frejgammelgard5519 people do though. Anemia can be a symptom of heavy periods and having a period every few weeks means you can't recover iron stores in time between bleeds so it gets worse and worse without infusions/high level supplements.

@@ferreirarq Reply of the year.
Except loosing a lot of blood means you HAVE to go to then hospital. Having their period is quite far from a lot of blood.
Mansplaining! Points to Lisa...
And people have gone to the hospital from periods. Many suffer anemia as a result of heavy periods which can be a serious condition and is the result of too much blood loss.
From the CDC: "Usually, menstrual bleeding lasts about 4 to 5 days and the amount of blood lost is small (2 to 3 tablespoons)"
Sam clearly stated "a lot of blood"
Key word there being "usually". You can absolutely lose more during a period, potentially enough to be harmful. If you'd like to learn more, I would recommend looking up menorrhagia.
Women. Lose. An average. Of 14-28 litres of blood during their lifetime. That’s at least three times the amount of blood in a human body. You need to lose more than 40% of your blood to kill you. That’s maybe 2 litres, on average? Women lose enough blood in their lifetime to DIE SEVEN TIMES. and most people start menstruating at 12 until they are 51, that’s 39 years. Women spend an average of seven years of their life bleeding. They lose enough blood to die once each of those years. Not to mention that period pain can be as painful as a heart attack for some women. Not to mention the amount of money we have to spend in our life on tampons and pads and new underwear and painkillers that men never even have to think about.
LMAO I wish that was it. Maybe they meant 2-3 tablespoons a day
Male spotted in its natural habitat of correcting women about their own bodies
The prompt is funnier with how Lisa did it, regardless. This is just unfunny.
Isnt there a minimal ammount if blood in the mucus discharged during a period? Unless im completely wrong there isnt enough to consider it "losing a lot of blood".
There's mucus discharged all the time throughout the menstrual cycle, but during a period in addition to mucus there's also actually emission of blood in addition to mucus/discharge, it's not bloody discharge. It's usually somewhere between 1 and 6 tablespoons in total, which may seem like a little, but for people with heavier periods is enough to fully saturate a pad by the end the day. Imagine losing tablespoons of blood from a cut! Anyways, that's all, hope this was helpful!
There's always this guy... Amazing
