A note for potential buyers... The rear seat headrests do not need to be removed to fold the rear seats flat. A step was skipped in this video which makes this clear. All you have to do is slide the front seats forward before folding the rears down. The headrests fit perfectly under the front seats after the front seats are slid back into position. Also, the rear seats have two recline positions, just pull up the handle and push back to recline the seats to the second position. Fantastic car.
I have a 2008 Honda FIT automatic with 210,000 miles and love it. The automatic runs at 2200 rpm, while the manual runs at 2800 rpm, so the automatic is so much quieter. The engine is peppy and I get up to 36 mpg. This car is so comfy and easy to put groceries in, with the magic seats! I'm going to run this car, until it dies.
The 2008 Honda Fit Sport 5-speed (Blue) is the current car I'm driving (about the only difference is having the standard shifter). I have been driving it since I got it in late 2007. All I can say is, I love it! There is one thing you mention in this video that doesn't make sense to me. Also you forgot to mention one amazing feature with the seats! At 6:27 don't take the headrest of the back-seat out, just use the knob on the top side of the front-seat and move the front-seat forward. The headrests from the back-seat will fit perfectly underneath the front-seats when the the front-seats are moved back into place. The forgotten feature! Take the headrest off the front-seats and place them in the floor of the back-seat. Get out of the car and use the lever on the top side to move the front-seat all the way forward. Then fold the front-seat all of the way back. If the seat doesn't go all the way down. Then use the back-seat release latch which is used at 6:24 and push the back-seat towards the back of the car. This will give you that extra room for the front-seat to properly go seamlessly down (note: the people at the dealership didn't know the back-seat could go back to give the front-seat room for this feature). Now you can sit in the back-seat with your legs and feet propped up! As for the road noise, it isn't as bad as the Civic. Everyone knows how much road noise the Civic has. However I don't notice it since I'm having too much fun driving the Fit around. :)
@@Kana0211 I'm actually about to trade it in this weekend! I'm upgrading to a 2020 Honda HR-V! She still runs great and has served me well and kept me safe, 10 years, 166,000 miles and really no major issues besides the new alternator. But it's time for her to go off and make another new driver happy 😊
My 07 Fit Sport 5 spd (red) is still going at 278k. Electric power steering now a little glitchy, but hey. I love the deep growl of the 1.5 in this car, not the high pitched sound in some other Hondas. The VTEC kicks in around 3700-3800 rpm, and the little beast still tears up the road.
I have a 2007 Sport and I have to say this is a really good review. The road noise issue is real! Bring tunes because you will want to drown out the engine noise on interstate trips.
Yes, I did! It's a great car. Low mileage for the year as it was a rebuilt title, but it was only the drive door, no frame or steering damage. I use it to commute 100 miles/day for work now.
I just bought an 08. Plan to drive to and from work. Have a feeling my son who just got his license will end up driving it. Once he finds out how much gas his pickup will go thru in 2 days. Hope I will like this little biggie as much as I love my 2013 Toyota Venza. Which I still own and have no plans of getting rid of. The Fit I bought has 175,000 miles, very clean inside and out. Person I bought car from had jiffy lube service done, our state vehicle inspection and filled tank with gas. Very solid car for under $2,000 cash. So far very happy with my new buggie. Now to add a few after market upgrades to him.
I have this exact same car and I've been wondering what it would look like with tinted windows. I really like it! Anyway, awesome review! Your older Honda Fit review is what really turned me on to this car. I'd never heard of it before then and now I'm in love.
i just bought a 1991 honda prelude si 5 speed manual stock with 130k + and i gotta say honda make a quality vehicles its a car that is older than me but its great its seen better days but i gotta say i'm pretty satisfied with the overall quality
I had a 08 silver base Fit and now I have a 07 black sport Fit. Think I like the sport better hehe lack of power yes but fun. Has pretty good gas milage and roomy, that's why I bought another Fit :)
Don't have to remove the rear headrest to lower the seat. Use lever on the front seat 'shoulder' and move front seat forward. Rear seat with headrest will lie flat. I have a 2007 too, and it's wildly different (2 tier glove box, map lights included etc) - your interior might me market specific.
damn he shifts at 6-7 grand in the fit I usually keep it around 4-5 thats pretty high end I don't know if he was just trying to show the speed or not but redline reviews really fits the name haha FITS the name
Look exactly like my 2008 Honda Fit sport. My Honda Fit sport is a 5 speed automatic. It was totally made in Japan. The paddle shifters I don't use them, because this car has too much speed for a small car. I had it for 15 years. It has about 200,000 miles on it and I purchased it when it had about 8 miles on it.
Obviously prefer the manual but I'd rather deal with the paddle shift delay and have a decent highway ride than buzz through 5th gear at 3500rpm for long drives. Especially on a sub-compact commuter DD. They definitely geared the auto better for day to day use.
Looks good, for an economy vehicle. Even though noisy and as he stated seats not very comfortable nor arm rests however it will weather the storm a good while and take you from point a to point b.
I had the 05 honda civic ex, manual and the 08 fit sport manual , the fit is way better mine was build in Japan the vin # will start with the J , fun little go car.
I can get a 2008 Fit Sport with 50K miles or step up another $1000 and get a certified 2013 Sonic LT with 13K miles on it. Obviously, value is a huge consideration. Is the $1000 worth it? Or does the Fit's fun driving and reliability take the cake? Thanks!
LanuzaFox ended up with 08 Honda Sport. Turbo Sonic is nice but it was out of my budget. In the short time of ownership at 6 months, the Fit has given me no trouble so I am very happy with it!
I bought a red one going to paint it and add a new touch screen to it and later replace the right back rim that previous owner scratched up bad but other than cosmetic problems my car runs great got it for 3000 with 88k miles on it
*USA:* We have the Honda Fit, fear us. *Japan and the U.K. (Unsure what other country has this but)* We have the Honda Jazz, you should fear us instead of the USA
just in terms of the feel...so it's purely subjective to me. If you like the second gen, then go for it. I may like coke and you might like pepsi...no big deal. Again...it's not leaps and bounds different, it's just my opinion.
lgmnow kondo ... The cargo space is what more important to be because ill be using it to haul stuff. do you think it is a really big deal with the additional space of the second gen? With the looks I do not mind either of the two they both look great to me the 3rd. gen is i don't like actually. Thank You.
if there is a practical reason to prefer the second gen, then you should get it because the real reason we buy HOnda FITS is because of their practicality! :)
To bad it’s not an automatic. Just needs better seats with Lumbar support and a better Audio package featuring SiriusXM Radio with awesome speakers. Along with Memory Foam seats.
It's not fair of Honda! I really can't believe that in US they gave you drum brakes and not even maplights, not to mention you had to wait 6 years to get the model:) In Europe disc brakes are obvious since decades, at least for front wheels, mine has disc on all four.
Don't mention to them that 2001-2008 Jazz (Fit for Europe) has height control on driver seat, in standard ;). On the other hand we had only 1.2 and 1.4 (1339cm3 in reality) I-DSI engines, no VTEC. So just ~83-88HP, still okish for that car, nothing more.
I probably could of got used to it but the red paint was fading pretty bad on that particular Fit. And manual Fit's are rare. I let that one be but i never found another. I like my Civic though.
I test drove a Fit and I found it kind of difficult to drive. I Wasn't very good at driving stick, I still don't think I am but I didn't do well with it. The throttle was so crazy sensitive, I was getting 4k rpm just trying to creep up to speed normally lol. I made the salesman in the back nervous, didn't do the clutch or tires any favors.. Than I got into a 03 Cooper S and it was like night and day. That thing was so easy to drive but it had no space at all and the Ac didn't work..
Cant believe im seeing the exact same car as mine. Its a good car but i absolutely hate the interior, its all made of cheap plastic. But overall, its an ok first car

+PatonHaus seems like more work to NOT remove the headrests. lol. unless there is sliding button BEHIND the front seats.
+kidecchi There is a lever at the side of the front seat to move the seat forward. Pretty simple.
thank you for pointing this out. I did not know this previously.
+PatonHaus Yep, just move the rear headrests to a lower position and maybe move the front seats forward a little bit.
+PatonHaus WHAAAAAT you just changed my life.

Sometimes we do miss the simplicity of the Fit, as well as its low ownership cost. The cargo versatility was also very useful :)

Honda fit is like a gocart! It's nimble and you can feel the road even the smallest bumps.
Peter Goldman does that make it an uncomfortable ride or is it half decent. Trying to decide on buying a 09' in the same colour as this video

wow hows the speed ? i am planning to buy too
Fast enough that it doesn't feel like EPS.
mmm Whats EPS i cant understand that acronym
Electric Power Steering.
Would this be a good/safe car for first time drivers? I saw a 2009 honda fit sport automatic, with 100k mileage for $6,499. Should i buy it?
