When I see you drumming I am struck by how much it feels like you are entirely aligned with what you're doing - and the fact it's not taking into account the fact you can be seen makes it infinitely more interesting.
VOLA is one of my favorite bands. Definitely check out more. Paper Wolf and Break My Lying Tongue are both really solid releases from their upcoming album.
Adam is one of my favorite modern drummers. He has such a unique style but he never overplays it. He's just so clean and tight. And his use of ghost notes is superb. His kit setup is also really unusual... It's so minimal with just the two toms on either side and he sets his cymbals so low and everything is so horizontal, you'd think it would be uncomfortable at those angles. But I guess it works for him because he sounds awesome. What I love most about this dude though is watching his expressions as he plays. He's a perfect example of what I find lacking in some other drummers. Some people look so focused they become stiff and stoic. He looks so loose and free and like he's just lost in the groove and that's not something that can be taught... I just love it. Vola is great and if you dig this, you'll love the rest of their stuff too. This is on the mellow end of the spectrum for them. I always describe them to people as if Depeche Mode and Periphery did some sort of collab. They're djenty and they can get heavy, but they also have this cool synthy new wave influence that shines. If you want another great track by them that showcases more of their dynamics and goes heavier, here's a fantastic live version of Head Mounted Sideways: th-cam.com/video/WNneFI4rU1s/w-d-xo.html Great video as always! So glad you enjoyed this one! Hope you explore them a bit further in the future. They're really an excellent group. I think you'll dig it. 🤘
First time watching this playthrough. Witness, the album this is from is an amazing album and Adam does some very cool stuff on it. Definitely worth checking out further!
I hope, by now, you're a solid Vola fan. They are criminally underrated outside the prog community. Adam's grooves and unique style complements the band to a degree that I can't imagine anyone else filling in for him. They were so tight in concert recently that you'd be hard pressed to tell if it was live (or Memorex, as they say).
Agreed. The live from the pool version of Head Mounted Sideways is pretty incredible. I've had that on repeat a lot lately. Amazing audio mixing and sound quality in that space. Better than the album version, IMO
There is a band from Denmark, who was opening for VOLA on their North American Tour. They´re called: H.E.R.O IN particular their new song: th-cam.com/video/eH8dJ5FxCQg/w-d-xo.html I am pretty sure you would like them Steve. Have fun :)
Thanks for this very nice reaction to my drumming! It’s much appreciated 😁
You’re welcome! Keep up the good work!
Your a hecking legend. Always love seeing you play in the videos!

Cheers Craig! Yeah he really seems lost in the music which was a great thing to see. Really really enjoyed this.
I adore the juxtaposition of a very busy drum pattern with an otherwise super chilled-out song.
Just found them a day ago as their new album was released. That thing is a masterpiece!
The album this song is from is definitely worth checking out!
Does it not look like he's doing this elegant passionate dance 🖤

I've absolutely fallen in love with this band recently
I haven’t checked out their new single as yet. It’s on the list though.
The songs "Head Mounted Sideways" and "Stone Leader Falling Down" are amazing.
Ooh, thanks!

1st measure: alright I got this
2nd: where TF was I?
3rd: Tf am i?
I believe this song was built around the beat Adam came up with. It's nice to see some bands actually start from the drums, not very common at all.
React to him doing ruby pool
