I'm always down for a comparison video. In truth I had forgotten what a cool-looking guitar that is. The new pickups definitely take it up to a new level. And you're playing was great.
I don’t have any links to Fletcher Pickups, I’ve never met the bloke but on the back of the reviews I’ve heard, I ordered a set of P90’s. I have to say I’m amazed!! Just as good if not better than my usual go to Seymour Duncan’s. Great vid too Budge 👏🏻
With my HB + HB system one (contemporary) strat and some electronic up grades soon required 😉 I've loved my two SDs that were fitted circa 1990 (can't recall if I fitted them, or a young lad called Simon Law did), but now I've started dabbling again, listening to others? The SDs are good, but a bit muddy in places (even with my wonky ears). So I could be tempted elsewhere (depending on budget of course)✌️💜😉😊👍 Fletcher's seem to offer a VFM option for boutique type pick ups, the prices seemed reasonable to me🤔🤔
I found that with off the shelf pickups. They sound great until you hear the alternative. Prior to finding Fletch, I had Dimarzio sets in most of my guitars and they've all been changed out for Fletch sets.
@@BudgetPedalChap Understood, that's interesting to know - thank you. Back in 1990 or before SD we're thought of as boutique. I had quarter pounders in my strats etc. Was going to try some EMG active types but availability was limited in the 1980s. I may invest in a set of Fletchers🤔🤞💜😊👍
I scored a mint 25th Fusion-III some time ago. My only complaint is the rear cavity panels which are too tight fitting. Removing them chipped the finish on some of the edges. But I expected that before buying from some owner reviews. I’m trying to match the paint trying nail polish. Thomann couldn’t give me a paint color code for automotive touch up paint. But I do like the 25th Tesla pickups and I did adjust the pole heights which ended up staggered like Fender SSS pickups. I’m still in love with mine and for regular Fusion-III replacement pickups I would have gone with the Tonerider HSS set.
@@SteveMavronis the tone rider pickups are fantastic bang for your buck, they'd be a great replacement set for sure. I've not had to open up the back plate myself, but that is a bit of a let down. All in though, great value for money.
Nice playing BPC! That set is Alnico 5 vintage+ wound with heavy Formvar Wire singles. Alnico 2 Kossoff bridge with a Partial split mod. Balanced so the split is Humbucker sits nicely with the singles and gives a sexy boost in full HB mode.
Lovely playing as always, although I much prefer 'another plank in the fence', but I see what you did there😀😀✌️💜 I just had a look at Fletchers for a pair of humbuckers, value for money Id say, certainly worth upgrading a Japanese Strat's pick-ups with. Also a a decent HB guitar, if its a keeper deserves them too✌️👍😊 See my comments re Affordaboard's comments hereunder.
You have to have a bit of fun with these things eh? It does a decent job of getting those tones though, for sure. Yeah, considering they are all hand made, they're still rather reasonably priced and they sound phenomenal. I have a Japanese Ibanez roadster with Fletcher pickups in and it was well worth the upgrade 👍
