I do not pitch my music video treatments to potential clients anymore because I’ve had several instances where they take my treatment to a less expensive video director. These days it’s more of “you’ve seen my projects and you like them, before I start on the treatment we already have an agreement to deposit a fixed fee that’s serve as a collateral/consultation fee for my treatment in case they decide to go else where.

    Great tips!
The thing that worries me is that they are simply asking around for treatments just to gather ideas for themselves. Not sure if that's ever happened though

Great tips @Danny but I usually don’t script till an advance is made. I adopt similar approach to sell my pitch only after payment has been made. This way they are committed. If they don’t like it I can re pitch my idea cos people have taken my ideas like this so many times so I stopped. Will this make me loose big clients? I know this is an old video but if you find this I’d appreciate a response, thanks and keep up the great work

Great tips.! Thanks! Any tip on how to become a listed vendor for labels to begin with? LOL. I have made some 30+ music videos in the last decade over here on the east coast, all for independent artist. Most of my income happens from branding pieces for larger companies but as a former gigging musician myself, making music videos is favorite type of work. I have the portfolio, just need to know where to submit! Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Danny!

I know that you shouldn't take it too personally when your project idea gets rejected or, worse, when you don't even get an answer but...man, it's sooo frustrating! I am totally aware of how it works, though: someone...let's call this person... *Vito* . So, Vito gets a bunch of ideas sent to him and he can only choose one and which project will be chosen depends on so many things: Did Vito get laid the night before or that same morning? Did his coffee machine break that morning and forced Vito to get coffee from some other place? Was there a car accident on Vito's way to work that morning and made him get stuck in traffic for hours before he could finally get to his office and start going through all the project ideas sent to him?
You get the idea, so many things can influence "Vito" and make him prefer someone else's project, not because yours was bad but...because that morning, Vito broke his shoelace and the main character of the chosen project was wearing shoes with that velcro strapping system...
So yeah, I'm aware of all that but still, it always stings when your project gets rejected because...maybe it's just me but to me, when someone rejects my project, that project is a part of me, so it's like *I* am being rejected! Makes sense? Or is it just me? Anyone?
