In San Jose, poppers from the multi-generational dance crew Playboyz Inc. create an illusion you can’t look away from, as they represent the city's signature "swagged out, smooth, and street" style of poppin. Their origin story goes all the way back to 1981, making Playboyz one of the oldest dance crews in the San Francisco-Bay Area. With electro funk blasting, kids gathered in garages, on the streets, in their local rec centers, developing their own variations of a style of street dance that spread up and down the West Coast. In East San Jose, Playboyz founder Robert Sabala recruited 12-year-old Bryan Moreno (a.k.a. Money B) to join his new dance crew, their moves an extension of their Chicano culture. Friends and family moved in and out of the group over the years, dance moves and street cred traveling by word of mouth and VHS tapes. Today, Moreno, who credits dancing with keeping him out of gangs and saving his life, carries on the legacy of the Playboyz with a new group of dancers, some as young as 10.

PLAYBOY ROB.....first to PLAYBOY ROB son, Robert in Stockton, your Dad had so many friends because he is a GOOD PERSON and REAL......remember this, this is why many post about your Dad......cherish and save every Pic, video of your Dad, he was well liked and respected.........the badest Legend Popper known East Side San Jose.....this is how Dance started on West Coast with your Dad out of the garage making first kind moves......that's right, today's dancers may have fancier moves and I will admit Trump our days but you will see them with Moves that they don't know were original from those like your Dad,, PLAYBOY ROB
I'm right here with you Gene, we grew up in rough area and rough times from the streets , yep, I don't forget at 54yrs old 06/19/2021.....I reminanesce BACK IN THE DAY, my old friend sent me an old school High Enrgy jam today.....POP GOES MY LOVE....and ROB popped in my head from Story n King to front of Jack N Box......to growing up the best we could.....Gene, you, I and many that knew Rob knew what we are talking about......PUERTO RICAN JR, FOXDALE APTS introduced me to ROB......good times, but hard as you mention B1, B2, B5...... we didn't know any different this is how it was.......I took... I mean STOLE some of ROBS and JR moves back to AZ......court orderd at 15 to live with Relatives.....I could not entirely duplicate ROBS moves.....they were ONE OF A KIND......but I took partial to AZ in HS and I was Popping GOD moves and how to move your body that seemed impossible.....from PLAYBOY Rob.....battling others and set them up like a pool shark lay down a few dollar bet let them think they won and come with that Pupetron, Baby Tics, Pause....break loose and YES, first Breaking move, take their money winning and yes fights cause of it.....all that from the the Teen yrs seeing Rob and JR.....came back at 18yrs, came back with better moves but ROB could not be touched.....and like many still trying to survive this was the Norm for all of us including ROB and many that did not make it......you see GENE, you, ROB, I and the many we knew the same from SOS, Melo, Sewa, Ricky D, Peli, Semi, Mike Samatoa, Edison, Rocky, Seven Trees and Swamp Dogs, Checkers, Foxdale, PensaCola.....yep.....this is all we knew......Streets.
Now ROB, and all of us were what many forgot about today....LOYALTY!!!..our days from Eastridge to Story n King is not forgotten as I sit here and again go back in time of an old school Jam and Old Friends......that then we would speed the turntable up to get that Fast beat......life was Rough but as you say we grew up, and teach our kids 1) stay out of trouble cause we knew 2) Respect and Loaylty 3) Education........now in 99 I went back to school at 33yrs old for my kids to give better, so they can see we have a choice and opportunities if we know but it took me a very long time to realize this......on the EAST SIDE......education then in 80s was not thought of......now different, but my ROOTS, my story, the people like Rob is still here.....we move on cause we had to such as I read many of the OGs moved out of San Jose cause too expensive......this is true......but WE WILL NEVER FORGET.......Gene I heard of you and can't remember when......not sure if you are one of the Popping Twins that use to live behind FISHER, but I am right here with you brother anything or anyone like ROB that disappears physically is never forgotton !!!!
