I concur, todays generation doesn't know what or heard good music, we had the best music. There missing out, I got 10,000 vinyls 45, 33, 12, 7 10 78, got them all, I still got my techniques turn table, and Bose speakers. FUCK I'm still stuck in the past
Puts a tear in my eye when I think about Dilla’s decision to sample this on the outro (intro to heaven) of his final album, released just days before he died. A musical legend.
Listen to to this song when I was about 8years old now I am , 59 years old. Still love it amazing vocals, this song is dedication for a man's love to keep his woman, loving him till death.
For my husband, Ruben. When you passed away babe after 34 years of marriage, you were the man I knew you could be. You were everything I wanted in a man. I love you babe!!
I just imagine Dilla finding this amazing sample, and completely knowing that this is going to be the final track he samples in his life. Truly amazing sample to an amazing track to finish an amazing album by an amazing guy. RIP J Dee
A classic in every sense. Perfect harmony. Powerful words. I'm retired and have this song in my trunk of memories as I move into my later years, always dipping inside, pulling it out, and singing along with whatever voice I have left. Thank you, Motherlode.
One of my ALL TIME FAVORITES Diane Brooks is the female singer on When I die which gives this song a Fifth Demension, Friends Of Distinction , Free Movement Sound
oddly recorded in 67 it wallowed around for some reason till they again for some odd reason finally decided to release it in 69 something tells me it was possibly wolf man jack on XERB 1090 bc im almost positive he was the dj i heard play it in reg rotation in 69
As a Huge fan of memorable music from that specific year, this one didn't have the same amount of airplay as the others. But what a gem it was ! I get teary every time i hear it ! 🤗👍
I have tears in my eyes bc now I get the message JDilla was trying to deliver in his Donut intro. he is a genious. So sad that he had to die he was so young and talented. noone will EVER deliver music like he did. Rest peacfully Jdilla .. ): ):
2:55, straight tears to my eyes! This song is soulful and the late GREAT J Dilla did it justice when he sampled it. I was gonna try and put my own touch on it, but this, just like "T.R.O.Y", you leave those samples and classics alone. Miss you, Dilla!
Remembered this song from my youth (I'm 65), found it here and played it for my wife, then told her this song expresses exactly my hope regarding my future with her. She looked at me, smiled, and said, "You're feeling romantic, today."
An epic gem! One of the greatest songs in the history of music. After 53 years of listening to it, it still chokes me up - always will. The pride of London, Ontario. I have the LP.
At the time, Canada was still waking up to, and realizing, our potential. We were, and are, very proud of this song. Such a wonderful vibe and lyric that still speaks to many of us today. And yes, we got by (and get by) with a little help from our friends to the south (Thank you Carol Kaye).
Hooray for YORKVILLE. It was like a weird world and it was beautiful. Neil, Gordon , Joni and you would find George Harrison and Bob Dylan goofin' around the Mariposa Folk Festival. You Millenials have NEVER seen the likes of the "60s" until now with Rootin' Tootin' Putin on the fuckin' war path.
I just started singing this out of the blue, and I actually found it here. Great memories. I'm 70 now. Still young at heart! Now playing this over and over.
This should have been a number one hit! The DJ,S and record companies ,don,t promote good artists, like this great group. I,ve alwayys loved this song back in 69, when first came out. Napoleon. Toussaint
Napoleon TOUSSAINT : That's because they unfortunately were just a one-hit wonder...the song made it to Number 18 on America's 1969 Billboard list. That's pretty respectable for a band from London Ontario
+Napoleon TOUSSAINT Hey friend! LOVE THIS TUNE! Those harmonies are so intricate. I sung a bit throughout my life & I have fun trying to sing the harmony parts on this one. PEACE!
It's weird how some older songs can leave your memory bank..... Then......BAM!!! You hear it here on the TUBE. You wonder how in the hell did I forget this song? "I used to love it!" Thanks so much for taking me back to re-gather this classic in my head.
What a beautiful song. Music from that era was so meaningful and well written. The musicians playing as one organ and the vocals are so much in harmony and tight. This classic still sounding good today. Nothing but the classics can stand the test of time.
Not just outstanding, ...but, a very sexy song too. Listen to that voice inflection. No singer does that today, without their voice cracking, and going out of tune. This is talent, that doesn’t exist today.
I'm here from the donuts album it really is a bittersweet feeling knowing that he sampled this knowing that the inevitable was near but even though that was true he gave us his gift one last time. and that's what life is all about
I'm so sorry for the loss of your precious husband of 34 yrs. I come here often to listen to this song and I read all the comments. I'm praying for The Lord to give you comfort and peace thru this time. I hope you both believer's in Christ and will soon be together again for all eternity, forevermore. My wife and I just celebrated 47yrs, last 41 with Jesus at the wheel. May God hold you in the Palm of his hand.
I haven heard this song for many many years, so many memories of my self and a very close friend we both took off to Job Corps back in 1971. After six months we returned 6 months later I enlisted in Marines. I heard later that my friend had became a drug addict he later passed away what a lost he was like a brother to me .
If only this young generation heard music like this !!!
...bastards...
Don’t worry I got you
You gotta turn them on to it. My daughter and my relationship is sharing our music. She would love this
I concur, todays generation doesn't know what or heard good music, we had the best music. There missing out, I got 10,000 vinyls 45, 33, 12, 7 10 78, got them all, I still got my techniques turn table, and Bose speakers. FUCK I'm still stuck in the past

That was one of the baddest tunes of '69!
Listen to to this song when I was about 8years old now I am , 59 years old. Still love it amazing vocals, this song is dedication for a man's love to keep his woman, loving him till death.

I never knew this thanks
For my husband, Ruben. When you passed away babe after 34 years of marriage, you were the man I knew you could be. You were everything I wanted in a man. I love you babe!!

I’m glad for the music but sorry for the fate
What was the cause of death and how old was he?
@@SuzanneThomaskendall He had lupus which was a rare blood disease he had for 3 years. He was 32 years old when he passed😥.
R.I.P Dilla🕊❤ (1974-2006)

It was an omen. And he blessed his fans by leaving us in my opinion one of the dopest beats ever. RIP #JDILLA

Late sixties pure solid gold

1969 was such an epic year for music, that this gem almost went unnoticed, could have been #1 any other year!
Hell yeah Motown, oldies, psychedelic rock at its peak
A classic in every sense. Perfect harmony. Powerful words. I'm retired and have this song in my trunk of memories as I move into my later years, always dipping inside, pulling it out, and singing along with whatever voice I have left. Thank you, Motherlode.

Carol Kaye’s brilliant musicality was all over this ….
Great song.
Remembered this song from my youth (I'm 65), found it here and played it for my wife, then told her this song expresses exactly my hope regarding my future with her. She looked at me, smiled, and said, "You're feeling romantic, today."
I've loved this song since'69, and they hardly ever played it. A sacrilege!
So true Beverly. A sacrilege.
Loved this tune when it came out. I wish the band had more hits. They deserved it.
This is the sound of Canadian pop music. Listening to this makes me think of driving in the streets of downtown Toronto at night.
Got the album. Wow! A masterpiece from 1969. Released July 26, 1969 reaching #18 on October 11. Should have been #1.

This great sound was recorded in 1967, it was released 2 years later in 1969.One of the best sounds of the Vietnam War Era.
Sitting in front of my moms house in west pilsen as a child with my transistor radio ,,,,, warm Summer,,that summer of 69. I’ll never forget my block.
This song is absolutely timeless
It is just a fantastic song. Period!! Whatever brought people here is a good thing but the record stands on its own merits.

LeezMadina yes! thats an actual fact. I miss that man like crazy!!!!!!

Fantastic record! Should've been a much bigger hit. Very ahead of its time. Surprised that Hall & Oates didn't re-do it!
