Today I am back in Bangkok Thailand with ‪@theroamingcook‬ in search of delicious street food. We start our search in Chinatown in some dark and scary alleyways, but never fear as the street food that we find here is out of this world.
Then to end the day of eating we head up to the highest and best rooftop bar in all of Bangkok.

I suffered for many years with heartburn and indigestion that doctors couldn't resolve in Australia and the UK. I took a trip to Vietnam where I got quite sick from tourist food on a tour I was pushed to go on because I was travelling with a friend - after antibiotics and probiotics over a week I traveled to Thailand and stayed in Ubon Ratchathani eating local food with extreme chilli and garlic.... My problems were solved - gut bacteria reset and I felt much healthier..... I so rarely eat anything other than street food in Thailand.... I've only ever been a visitor there although I just put a deposit on a place to buy..... cheapest end of the market but with any luck I can eventually move there permanently in a few years time...

Normally chilli is still be able to provoke your stomach problem.
I think, your recovery most came from Thai foods' recipes, especially "Green Curmin." it is the most effective herbal to cure GERD.
Happy to hear that you will come to live here in Thailand. I welcome you with love. Take care and bye for now.

Was it the antibiotics and probiotics that cured your gut, or was it the extreme chili and garlic? I'd love to visit Thailand, but I have stomach issues so i need to be prepared if I do take the trip

    • @evansmusic2009
      @evansmusic2009 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

@@sn7miller I'm guessing a combination of both... The antibiotics kill most bacteria good or bad, probiotics help to build good bacteria again, and chilli/garlic (and possibly other good things in the Thai foods) helped to stop any other nasties while the new bacteria in the gut flourished... Thats my best guess... I certainly have way less issues than I used to....

Food that is (quoting Paddy) NEXT LEVEL! , massages, sunshine and visiting with my Thai friends! It was a pain in the butt to make to try and follow the Thai travel requirements (confusing). I thought I would be able to do the Test and Go because the site said you could register 60 days in advance so I thought "no problem". Got my ticket and required documents to upload on the site.... Can't register until Feb. 1! So I have to do the quarentine..... well, at least I will be back in Thailand and that makes me happy!

Loved the PSA on being a first timer and getting over "Bangkok Belly," so true and I wish/hope more people explore these alleyway/hole in the wall/street foods in Thailand. I was raised on Los Angeles taco trucks (I'm talking "roach coaches" in the 80s/90s before the Great Truck Explosion of the 2010's), so I was not at all averse to trying Street Food in Thailand on my first trip, AND YET I had my fair share of stomach/digestive issues for a few days my first there. But literally never had it again, been back several times and road tripped throughout Central/Northern Thailand, and the FOOD is literally why I go back. Oh... and the Lao Kao! Love this video!

But that tower -- sitting in the pickup with family on the way back from Hua Hin on Friday, that tower caught my eye. I thought how cool it would be to venture into one of those blocks that jut out of the irregular sides of the tower. And (poof) here you and Gary are. You'll never get me onto that glass floor. Absolutely - food made with love and pride will always be better. The street food stalls may not necessarily look the cleanest, but consider that these are aunties and uncles and grandmas and grandpas cooking for you with fresh ingredients and they will look at you with a smile because they know it is good and want you to feel cared for. When they sell out of that day's fresh ingredients they close up shop. In Taiwan I had one of the best meals ever in a parking lot behind some motorbikes on little plastic tables and stools - gorgeous charcoal grilled steak with a perfect egg on top and rice with fried scallions on top. Super fresh and hot. If you see a lot of locals feasting away, go for it. If you see a lot of cabs or scooters parked out front and cabbies enjoying their lunch, go for it. You are bound to find something delicious, even if you don't know what it is. I also find that some of the best places specialize in a very short menu. See what looks good at a table maybe and just point at that if you can't speak the language.

Great video on BKK street food. Magnificent views from King Power Mahanakhon, the lift and the glass floor to scary for me. 👍😀

I walked through Chinatown in 2014, but by late afternoon it was winding down. (You sometimes see liver on skewers, I think). Wet, windy day in cold Glasgow - who spent 13 years on and off in Thailand - can't take it. "Nothing grows without sun".

Going up in that elevator reminded me of the original Willy Wonka and Chocolate Factory tunnel boat ride!
Totally saved all these wonderful food places for my trip.
    That Bangkok sunset is stunning!
Looking forward to seeing more food vlogs from you and Gary!

My wife and I once took a Thai lady out to dinner at Fuji restaurant. We ordered a fair amount of food but everything came with rice.
We couldn't eat all the rice and it ended up being cleared and, presumably, thrown away.
The Thai lady was very upset as she has a rice farm. She said we should have kept the rice (doggy-bag) and given it somebody on the street. She said the fruit of her and others' backbreaking work shouldn't end up in the bin.
We absolutely saw her point and felt terribly inconsiderate; an event never forgotten.
I suppose the fish eating it MIGHT be okay in Buddhist thinking. The fish are somebody's (edit: reincarnated) ancestors after all.
