    Great video Chris. This solo really doesn’t surprise me, because I know Dave’s playing pretty well. Dave’s a conversationalist, and an excellent communicator on the instrument with a wide range of vocabulary. Dave’s using a lot of rhythmic repetition while also playing sounds, not just constant eighth notes. This is what makes me really like someone’s playing. Using rhythm, and playing around with different sounds and approaches to the changes.

    Very cool breakdown, i bought this transcription a while ago, you breaking it down and keeping it simple to understand.
    Look forward to more

    Great breakdown! :) And yes you said my name correctly! Thanks for doing this analysis Chris. It's nice to see people find the transcription useful. I've been learning this solo on tenor, just finished the whole thing literally yesterday.

    3:28 - Why do you mark this as a tritone sub? I've always thought of this as more of an altered sound, or imposing the minor iv over the V.

    • @positivelyprogressing
      @positivelyprogressing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Looking back on it I would agree more of an altered sound. I think in the moment that's what I heard, it's really tough to remember exactly since I made the video a while back. Thanks for the correction! 😁🙌

    Why do "breakdown" videos go straight to the breakdown and don't let you hear the full solo first? And also there is not even a link to the original solo in the description.
    So many videos are like this and i just don't get it.

    • @positivelyprogressing
      @positivelyprogressing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the feedback. Great points, I thought I put the original link in there, my bad. There’s a ton to do when creating videos and sometimes things get forgotten. That’s life. I also thought if you follow Dave you probably seen this video, again my fault for assuming. I will take all your comments into consideration in the future, thanks! 😁🙌

      Thanks for taking it easy!
      It sure helps when you show the solo before starting the breakdown, or at least have a direct link to the solo so the viewer doesn't have to look for it.
      Cheers

    3:20 “Bepob” That is your analysis? You explain absolutely nothing. 🤦🏼‍♂️

    • @positivelyprogressing
      @positivelyprogressing  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Bebop! Yea, sometimes I'm just so excited about what I just heard. I want people to know the bebop sound vs explaining what every note is. Dave does a great job mixing in "modern" language in to his solos so I wanted people to really hear that. It's OK if my videos or this video isn't your kinda vibe, thanks for your comments and I wish you the best on your musical journey 😁🙌
