    I'm in Alabama also and I've been doing simple carvings for about a year. Bird feeders, mushrooms, ect. Just recently started attempting carvings like this and wanted to say your tutorials are great.

    Awesome work! Thanks for the inspiration to finally tackle the 8foot tree stump that I’ve been wanting to tiki-fy in my backyard! You make this look easy, which I’m sure it’s not but you’ve given me courage lol! Thanks! Keep the tiki carvings coming please!

      The heat and humidity are bad here so I just get a tetanus and hope for the best. But remember eye and ear protection. 👍

    What kind of wood do you use to carve? I'm in Missouri and am just starting to practice this but have mostly only cedars, dogwoods and Oaks. Which do you recommend?

    • @sextonchainsawcarvings6955
      @sextonchainsawcarvings6955  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cedars are great. Oaks look amazing but are hard on the hands when carving and if not dried out it will split easy.

    Excellent video! I have two 7’ tall stumps I want to try this on. Any advice for carving stumps that are still in the ground?

    • @sextonchainsawcarvings6955
      @sextonchainsawcarvings6955  ปีที่แล้ว

      After you carve what you want out of them, cut them in the middle at the base and try to spray as much water sealer between the stump and base to prolong the rotting process as long as possible.

    What kind of chain are you using?

    • @sextonchainsawcarvings6955
      @sextonchainsawcarvings6955  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a standard chain with 3/8 pitch. Same chain that came on the saw when I got it. I have sharpened it a few times.
