    Great review Steve … just prompted me to buy the new go exclusive 7 “ HD which is the same spec /camper routing but also comes with a leather case 🙂 and with a bit of negotiating with tomtom got 40% off and paid £230 !! Happy days 🙂

    Always enjoy the upbeat nature of your vlogs- keep it up! There are many TH-camrs doing product reviews, all raving about their free gift (no offence meant), but it might mean more to us simple viewers if the review was a comparison to another similar product i.e. which is best. Maybe something for the future?! Enjoy your upcoming trip and keep up the vlogs please!

    You said you can load your own POIs but I am afraid you can't with this version, something to do with the mapping system it uses. Apart from that, it is a great unit. Hopefully, they will allow POIs in the future but I wouldn't hold my breath.

    Can anyone answer this question about this Camper Max? I've had TomToms in the past and I currently use a Garmin. If I'm driving along and need a fuel stop the Garmin refreshes the screen as you drive along so you know the distance and direction of a fuel stop. However, the distance appears to be an 'as the crow flies' distance until you route to that location. It can then be much further away when the route is calculated. That works ok because you can see how far it is from an approaching junction. The TomToms show how far the fuel stops are but the ones I've used need the screen refreshing to get an updated distance. So my question is - Does the TomTom now automatically refresh the distance to fuel as you drive along? and if not, is the distance to a fuel stop a calculated route for each one, or an 'as the crow flies' distance. I asked TomTom but I was just referred to a manual. £350 is a lot to spend, only to find it doesn't do what I want.

    • @RoamingRadfords
      @RoamingRadfords  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We haven’t really been anywhere using the new TomTom yet, but are looking forward to using it for our European Road Trip in a few weeks time and will be putting it through its paces. I have asked TomTom to keep an eye on the comments here so hopefully they will be able to answer that for you.

    • @tomtomdrivers
      @tomtomdrivers 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there, thank you for your interest in our product. If we understand you correctly, you want to know if the device can show the actual distance from the current route to the nearest gas station and to answer that we show the nearest gas stations on a map view, so here you cannot see the actual distance measured in meters, but from the map it should be clear enough to see what the distance is more or less. Also, if you have the device connected to your smartphone (and data enabled), you can see the real-time fuel prices. Happy motoring!🚗 ^Harry

    I spent a great deal of money buying the Garmin equivalent which I thought was fantastic. That was until I bought my Range Rover Velar !!. Ether the heated windscreen elements or the glass coating completely stops it receiving any GPS signals. There is no provision for attaching an external antennae and Garmin appear to have a policy of ignoring people with problems - in short it's a brick. If I knew for sure that the TomTom would work i'd get one in a shot.

    In the weights setting it says (Gross/Axle in t)
    Doesn't this mean it needs the Gross weight as the first number (overall van weight limit eg. 3.5 tons) and the heaviest axle as the second (eg 1.9 tons)?
    Or is it asking for individual axle weight limits (in which case why add the word Gross)?
    I assumed you put in your front axle weight limit and a combined rear axle weight limit..
    I noticed when Wandering Bird did her review on this device she put 3.5 and 2.5 in the (Gross/Axle in t) her vehicle having a total weight limit of 3.5 tons
    WHOS RIGHT?

    • @RoamingRadfords
      @RoamingRadfords  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It wants individual axel weights, however in the case of a TAG axel it’s the gross weight of both axels

    • @oldbarnsleyincolour
      @oldbarnsleyincolour ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RoamingRadfords Wandering Bird must have got it wrong then in her review of this. THANKS :)

    • @oldbarnsleyincolour
      @oldbarnsleyincolour ปีที่แล้ว

      I really think that first number Gross is the max allowed vehicle weight? Otherwise why Gross/Axel ?
      I think if your van is a 3.5 ton then thats the first number and the second is the max for which-ever axel (in your case of a TAG axel it’s the gross weight of both axels)
      Wandering Bird says "3.5tonnes is max allowed vehicle weight (not necessarily the actual weight of the vehicle) so thats the first number. 2.5t is max weight over either axle so thats the second number. Hope that helps!"
      What did Tom Tom advise you?

    • @mroberts4442
      @mroberts4442 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Steve .. for info - 1st number is gross weight of the van and NOT axle weight ie 5000 kg in your case and 2nd number is axle weight which you added the tag axles together which is correct . Sorry ! 🫢

    Worst satnav I have tried not fit for purpose, apart from trying to take me over a bridge that wasn't wide enough for the caravan it also tried to make me turn down a dead end. I returned it for a refund and was told that they had three back already with customers complaining about the routing. Also loading POI's is not as simple as is made out in the review, ov2 files which are given by the CCC the old tomtom format cannot be loaded but have to be converted into a different file type and tomtom can't help you with this.

    I’ve had one of these for a month now and just a couple of issues
    Firstly, I can’t find how to adjust the volume when in route mode, I have to go back to settings to adjust
    Secondly, set my route to go to shops and it wanted to take me down some real narrow roads so went back into settings and it seems to have defaulted back to car mode (yes it has car mode not just for moho’s) once I’d put my dimensions in again took me different route.
    I will check it again when I reboot on next outing to see if it has saved settings this time but so far I’m pleased with the unit but the big test will be winter in Europe for 4 month’s, we’ll see how it goes
    Ps Steve petrol prices aren’t always accurate so double check before fuelling up

    The customer service received from this company has been totally appalling. I ordered and bought a unit on the back of numerous reviews. This was ordered in May and I have still not received this unit. It was dispatched but ever delivered nearly two months down the line this matter has not been resolved. To say I’m appalled and disappointed is an understatement. I have asked for someone to speak with me directly on numerous occasions and this has not been done. Everything is done via email and this is at snail pace. Quick enough to take money out of your bank account unfortunately not quick to resolve a problem. I would love to give feedback on this product if I ever receive it. Has put me off Tom Tom some what extremely disappointed
