I wish there were more visual aids here. A pillar is a visual, but no pillars are shown. Talks about structure your strategy so I figured there'd be more diagrams. the idea of pillar and clusters attracts visually-minded people so it would be helpful if more of this is used. i've subscribed....hopefully there will be more description on this.

The graphics in this video are rather distracting and the content is hard to follow. I had to watch it a few times to understand it, whereas I don't have this issue with content from other TH-camrs.

We appreciate the feedback Markus. We're excited to say that our video content is getting a re-jig - both with our animation and style of presenting across the next few weeks so stay tuned!

Awesome video! I have one question: can a page be a suppage of two pillarpages if its really connected? For example, pillarpage "cat collars" and pillar page "dog collars"... and for some reason i want to write a Blog post about "collars for cats and dogs"... or is it possible to create another pillar Page of that topic and link it to the others as well, if there would be enough content around it (The example is probably not the best :D)
Much thanks for the great content!

G'day Constantin! Yeah it makes sense that your content can sometimes be relevant to more than one pillar page. For example, one of our blogs about social media is a form of content marketing, so this would be linked to both content marketing pillar page as well as our social media pillar page. Hope this helps!

    1. The pillar page should be a page or can be a blog post?
    2. Can we target long tail keyword as pillar page?
Question 1 I have struggling with the most.

Hi there Al! Great questions ... In response to your first question, it depends on what works for you and your CMS of choice. The process will work the same whether you link to a blog post pillar page or a website page pillar page. To answer your second question, in the vast majority of cases, it makes sense for your pillar page to target a short tail keyword - as it is supposed to be as broad as possible (e.g. content marketing). Your linked blogs will then target long-tail keywords associated with that short-tail keyword (e.g. Content marketing statistics in 2021, why Content marketing is important, etc.).
We hope that helps! Thank you for your comment! :)

@@NBHco Great explanation to the questions. Following up on this, my question is, can the target long-tail keywords (content marketing statistics in 2021) associated with a pillar post's short tail keyword ( content marketing) be a variation of it (eg Marketing strategies for content in 2021)? or must you use exact phrase keywords as the pillar page keyword as explained above. Keyword tools such as SEMrush give the option of searching long-tail keywords for a seed keyword's 1. exact match 2. phrase match 3. broad match. For the sake of building topic clusters should one stick with exact match search only ? Thanks

Hi should I use static pages for the main core topic like best gaming laptops and the supporting gaming laptops as blog posts. Would it make a difference kindly advice me with this as I have fallen in live content hub and want to pursue them diligently

Howdy product promotions! If we understand your question correctly, an example would be as follows: You could create a pillar page that covers the overarching topic of 'Gaming Laptops', and then link out to two topic clusters, one being 'Best Gaming Laptops' and the second being 'Types of Gaming Laptops'. Under these topic clusters, you can then create blogs specific to the topic cluster. We've written a supporting guide below that should help you understand this further, as it can be a tricky concept to grasp! I hope this helps :)
