LYRICS
RAHAB AND THE TOKEN
So Rahab was a harlot Yes.
Rahab was that woman who went a whoring.
But according to the book of Rahab’s life, after the breaking of its seal,
Revealed a heart so clean and fertile;
Prepared to receive true Word seed.
All the stories of the Lord’s exploits, Rahab heard,
She didn’t see, yet, believed.
… was willing to place her life on the line
To secure the Lord’s elite.
She believed beyond every shadow of doubt,
The God of Joshua is GOD!
Received with peace, these agents of God
In return for a Scarlet Cord.
This, was no laughing matter;
‘twas a matter of life and death.
To the promise of, ‘I will return’,
She was willing to hang her last breath.
A shout went forth, every wall came crashing,
Save the wall on which Rahab lived.
She held to an unfailing Word of promise,
“Thou and thy house shall be saved.”
‘twas faith in the God whom her people derided
And scorned which kept her safe,
As today, a people who was not a people
Was called to be thus in this day.
A gentile prophet in these modern times
Seemed far-fetched to most in this age.
But we who believe, have made ourselves ready
To unite with our Lord in marriage.
The countdown had already started,
And three minutes to midnight’s no more!
Hasten! Do not stand there gazing,
When the Lord will soon shut tight the door.
Mercy will no longer exist,
And blindness will be the gentiles’ fate.
If they had been fully persuaded,
They would have kept their first estate.
Rahab received blessed assurance,
Because she believed from her soul,
And married her very deliverer
Who saved her from her wicked world.
We are the substance of this shadow;
What was once dark to us is made clear.
We’ll be in union with Jesus!
Our faith in Him, will take us from here.
