Pretty cool! Thermal camera's are invaluable troubleshooting tools.
I'm a bit conflicted. I like the large touchscreen but not the form factor. This makes it 2 more handed use. I like the pistol grip style better but you lose the large touchscreen. Overall I think for me the pistol grips wins. I also feel a pistol grip seems more natural to pinpoint at an an object.
I always wonder how much these companies are saving by over-relying on touchscreens instead of adding a few more tactile buttons. Good on them for including those two large function buttons, a rarity nowadays, but really the entire navigation could've been way more convenient with a few more buttons.
I get having to remove gloves to fiddle around with zooming in and drawing marquees. But how often would one need a bit more than just F1/F2? I imagine often enough to be worth the cost of nav buttons.
Looks like a fun toy, I mean tool. This winter I came very close to buying a FLIR unit that cost in the same ballpark but ultimately did not because of the poor reviews. Looking for insulation gaps and air leaks in the house was my main inspiration.
Some comparison using a thermometer would have been interesting.
Did you mention a price? it looks really nice so it's hard to imagine it's not a little expensive even if it's reasonable for what it is and does. Thx as always.
Do you think this could be used for a water leak detection in a multi-family apartment building?
If there’s a temperature gradient, then yes.
Start by going downstairs and see where the water is soaking through the ceiling
This will probably become obsolete when the iphone 16 comes out this year. Joking not joking of course.
