    You forget somting
I see that your tire have air in it .
That is the reason its easy to de plug .
If your tire do not have air in it.
Pump it first up than thake out the nail and do than what the video tell you to do.
If the do not have air in side .
It will not go smoothly en easy in and out the tools u use.

@@knobsdialsandbuttons Stuck out in the back country, I will plug side wall or tread edge with oneor several plugs, as needed, to get back to a shop. But, such would not be a permanent repair as it would be in the tread.

You are right - most sources say that it has to be 1/2 inch or more from the tire's edge to be considered repairable.

      The sidewall is thinner

I appreciate that someone might have used a screwdriver to put the screw there in the first place.

Is this a long term fix?

Some people use them as a permanent repair but I would only use them as a temporary fix, just to be safe

Used it on a side wall no problems. In an emergency do whatever

This practice is Not safe , not British standards for approx forty years. You Don’t know what internal damage has happened without removing the tyre . Safety first avoid .
