Yes! And Julias cookbook is already one of my all time favorite cookbooks. I have "other" cookbooks, that i may make a handful of things from. But everthing in Julia's are things that either i have made, or will eventually make here soon. You'll love it! www.juliapachecocooking.com/cookbook
Try coconut oil instead of wax and I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised! It tastes amazing, it makes the chocolate shiny and you don’t have to eat wax!
I have used Parrifin Wax for years, not only does it make the Chocolate shiny but it preserves. My Mom always started making Chrisymas Candy the Day after Thanks. You don't use so much wax. I can remember when I was a kid, my Mom would out melted wax on top of her preserves when she canned it. She lived to be 94 yrs 11 mos.
@@Rebecca-r7h that’s a great question. In the past, I’ve tasted candy made with wax (didn’t enjoy it), but I’ve never actually made it using wax as I try to avoid ingesting such things. I would assume it’s a 1:1 ratio. Perhaps try a small batch first to verify?
More fantastic recipes, and I love your presentations. You are such a joy to watch, and I thank you for sharing with us! God bless you and your beautiful family. Merry Christmas. ❤❤❤
I make the toffee cracker bars but with saltines versus graham crackers...its a sweet salty taste. I'm a new subscriber, always looking for interesting candy recipes!
A candy that I make that was passed down from my mom was peanut butter balls. I also use the Gulf Wax in my chocolate and it does make them shiny and pretty. I use toothpicks in my peanut butter balls to dip them into the chocolate. Once the chocolate hardens I take them all out. Note: I put a toothpick in each peanut butter ball, stick them in the fridge for about 30 minutes, take them out and dip, stick em back in the fridge and once that chocolate hardens I take all the toothpicks out.
That first recipe I make but with maraschino cherries. Made it every year with my mom when I was growing up. We call it Cream Ball Candy. My absolute favorite candy ever. 😊
@ my recipe calls for one small jar drained and finely chopped. The small jar I have in my cupboard is 6 ounces. Not sure if all brands are that size. If you use more it won’t matter as long as you drain them.
Oh wow! That paraffin wax brought back a LOT of precious memories 🤗🥰💞 THANK YOU!! The peanut butter balls are different than what we make. We don't add graham cracker crumbs. I believe I may try your recipe next year. Everything looks delicious. Thank you for these awesome ideas!! 💞🙏🏼💞
Hello Miss Valerie👋👋👋 This was a great vid, the candies you made all look amazingly delicious and decadent😋 TYFS, you’re such a sweet soul, I hope you and your family have a blessed holiday, Merry Christmas, enjoy!♥️💫✨👼🏻✨💫♥️🎅🏼🎄☃️ PS: I love Julia, she’s a very kind person, I too got a copy of her cookbook, it’s a beautiful book and I was fortunate to receive a signed copy, I was thrilled♥️
Making them into balls is much easier to dip. We called these Martha Washington Chocolates but without the candied cherries. The candied cherries do add a festive touch to these candies!
I have a grandson that loves peppermint like me and hes going to love the grasshopper recipe. Oh no there goes my waistline, we'll be the only ones eating it lol. I think for Christmas we're allowed. Ty so much for sharing.
Love your recipes. I also use a fork to dip in the chocolate, it works great i think. And i use paraffin too. I like the shine and i think it sets up better. Just my experience. Thank you for sharing.
😂The peanut butter balls. For fun I call them Peanut Butter Orbs. I made them several years ago when my granddaughter was 3 y/o🎉 She wasn't quite ready to help very much. But she was definitely ready to eat them. And loved them. The Christmas Crack sure looks good.
I use my big cake cover to mix a lot of my Christmas candy. It’s worked great so far. These recipes look delicious. Thank you for sharing. God bless. 🙏🏻
Thanks for more wonderful recipes! You asked what candy recipes we have handed down. In my family it is my Great Grandma's Divinity, her peanut brittle, and my Grandma's old fashioned butter fudge and butter brickle. But we also make a lot of different candies like yours! I always love finding new ones! We also have a pie my Aunt found in an old church cookbook called "Joy Pie," it is a simple frozen cherry pie, almost the texture of ice cream, it is sooooo good and looks festive since it is pink. One year nobody thought to make that and all of the kids were really, really upset. 🤣So now we always make sure someone makes it. It is my son's absolute favorite and one of my daughter's favorite desserts.
Thank you for the video and recipes. Everything looks so festive and delicious! Wilton makes a special dipping fork, used in making dipped candies. I got mine from Hobby Lobby in the candy making section. Using a couple of those might make the candy making process easier. Thank you again! 😊💖🙏🏻
Valerie Thank You for these 4 wonderful recipes i shall be doing all of them for the upcoming holidays , i do 12 days of christmas for our children and always try to include yummy treats for them . i came across your channel today and i am thrilled to have found you AMAZING thank you Beverly VT USA
I use the wax with no problem.. The wax thins the chocolate and it is much easier.. Each to your own. Love your recipes. Thank you be safe and blessed 🙏
We always rolled our bom boms in balls and then freeze them before dipping them into the chocolate and it was easier to keep on the toothpicks when dipping.
In the store where you buy the wax Merkens for melting chocolate they usually have Tools that’s like a little round circle on a stick that drains better than a fork and has less mess
I love the chocolate orange slices you can get at Christmas time. The last recipe might be nice done it an orange flavoring with color to match. The white chocolate and Oreo's would make them extra special.
Everything looks so easy and delicious! I’m very happy your video popped up on my feed. Thank you for sharing with us. Merry Christmas to you and your family.🎄
I just stumbled upon you last night. I already made the monster cookie. They were very decadent and absolutely a hit! Thank you. Keep them coming! Happy Holiday’s!
Cant wait to try these. First recipe reminds me of my Mamaws candy making. I have some experience with dipping in chocolate and a metal rack works excellent to put your dipped items on and can catch the excess on wax paper. Thanks so much
You were an inspiration when showing so many neat quick Christmas Candy Recipes. Thank you Valerie for sharing the wonderful ideas. You brought back so many past memories of being in the kitchen with my mother. Many things I forgot. I cannot wait to start cooking for the holidays.
Oh my gosh , did u just say chocolate gravey! We had that at my house for breakfast all the time growing up , that or oatmeal , always with a biscuit. Lol
I loved all the candy recipes. Can I have the link to order Julie Pacheco Recipe Book. I love her cooking show also. Thank you and Merry Christmas🎄

I’ll pass ,on the wax
I dip my hands,in paraffin wax,to make them soft
Are the recipes available?

What is the substitution ratio of coconut oil for parrafin wax.
In Ohio, we make Christmas crack with soda crackers

I have found that coconut oil has too low of a melting point. The result is not hard at room temperature.
The grasshopper fudge looks so good. I love the green 😊
Hey hey sweet friend ❤❤❤. I love me some good ol candy and love handmade/homemade gifts ❤❤
For dipping I broke the 2 middle prongs out of a plastic fork it lets the chocolate drain off . I found it easier for dipping.
Hey, if you ever think about it, next time you color Easter Eggs, save that dipping wand in the package for dipping any of these.
I haven't seen wax used in chocolate in a recipe for decades. Very old school! I had forgotten about it.
Apparently it contains carcinogens
I never use wax in mine. But I do use chocolate bark. Maybe it has wax in it? 🤔
I'm in my 70s. I don't make my Needham often because of the wax. I just read in the comments to substitute coconut oil! Needham for Christmas 😊😊
when I was young, mom and a group of firends would get together and make candy lie this, great memories.
I can’t wait to try the Christmas candy recipe!!! I called my daddy’s mama Mema too!
This is the first time I have seen you I love the way you explained everything thank you

Sounds like something my sister-in-law makes. You’re right about the choice of crackers -sweet and salty tastes the best !😊
I need that Christmas candy in my life! I'll definitely be making that soon!!!

My mom's No Fail Fudge. That I always fail at it once a year. But I still make it with many, many happy memories of mom teaching me -over and over.😂
I bet the grasshopper fudge would look awesome if you used Christmas Oreos 😉
You can use an egg separator to get your dipped candy out of the chocolate.
We call chocolate-dipped pretzel rods “Magic Wands.” My kids always loved them. White almond bark also works great.

These are so festive! These look so delicious!

Me too! Big family holiday project!
Form the balls with a small scooper before refrigerating. Then chill.
I thought that was Martha Washington Candy, but the cabdied fruit threw me, as my mom never used it. Mom also made Divinity.
I add a tbsp olive oil to my dipping chocolate. Gives a lovely gloss and very smooth texture
So no wax just olive oil? Im going to make these with my grand daughter
Love them all, I watch all of your videos ,food and sweets too 😊
I never use a recipe for my candies except for fudge. I also make my own vanilla. Huge difference!
Does you make old fashion cooked fudge with cocoa powder and sugar with butter?
I have a grandson that loves peppermint like me and hes going to love the grasshopper recipe. Oh no there goes my waistline, we'll be the only ones eating it lol. I think for Christmas we're allowed. Ty so much for sharing.
I think we had those first Christmas candies as a child. I’m saving this video.
I’ll be making these for sure never overly delicious recipes of yours
Peanut butter balls
Try mixing peanut butter with dextrose. Till a dough forms
Dip in chocolate. Tastes just like Recess cups. Yummy 😊
Is the ratio of powdered sugar for pb ball the same with dextose
I love watching these videos gives me loads of ideas and joy for my own family, please do more of these videos ❤
