I have just finished reading this book and I couldn’t put it down, but I didn’t want it to end. It’s fabulous

About getting it wrong: you're quite right. I'm Dutch and I was once reading a novel, written by a British author (Alistair MacLean, can't remember the book). There was a car chase in the Netherlands; the main character saw that the car had Amsterdam number plates. I stopped reading at that point, because it didn't make any sense. From number plates in the Netherlands there's no way you can deduct the region the car is from. So you are quite right that little details you get wrong can put the reader off. It spoiled the whole book.
I have to admit I've never read any of Kates' books. But I've read most of Ken's books. The problem with that is that I feel I'm demented. I can't remember the whole storyline of "The Pillars of the Earth". I have to reread it.
