Jerry Lee Lewis was one of the more flamboyant & wilder rock & roll singers of the time in the 50's-60's. He was nicknamed "The Killer". His piano playing & showmanship were legendary. He had a lot of hits such as "Breathless", "Wild One", "High School Confidential", "What'd I Say", "Another Place, Another Time" etc. His career faltered for a time when he married his 13-year-old cousin.
This was from the show "American Bandstand" which aired Monday through Friday late afternoon (after kids were home from school) and Saturday evenings. They played pop and rock music. The Ed Sullivan Show was on Sunday nights; it was basically televised vaudeville, a little bit of everything - singers, bands, comedians, acrobats, puppeteers, scenes from Broadway shows. If you had been alive back then you wouldn't have been able to record it on VHS though, that wouldn't be a thing for another 20 years or so.
This was the beginnings of Rock and Roll. Today we would call this Rock-a-Billy and based on Boogey Woogey. There are modern bands that still play this music. Here Jerry Lee was fairly mild. He often kicked his chair away and has set the piano on fire while playing this song. Good bands to check out. The Hillbilly Moon Explosion, early Imelda May, JD McPherson.
If you want to see Jerry Lee really let loose check out his performance in the UK from 1964 or 65, available on YT. Jerry Lee was a complete madman. He was an incredibly accomplished honky tonk piano player.
It was about this time he married his 14 year old cousin(big scandal). Also notable piano playing cousins are Mickey Gilley and TV evangelist Jimmy Swaggart.
Yeah he was nobody when he was alive could play a piano like him he could play it with his feet he can play it sitting on the piano with 2 feet he can play it with two hands and one foot yeah nobody walking the planet could play like that
VHS tape wasn't even a thing back then. 😉 Maybe 16mm or 8mm film, but your father would let YOU use it because it as expensive. 😂😂 VHS wouldn't be available OR even that "portable" till about 1984 to 1986. 😉 And even then a VHS camera would be big and EXPENSIVE. 😉
What do you think he was doing with the piano? They didn't have home video tapes back in the 50's, come on. He didn't need to use the pedals, weren't you watching?

The fifties was the birth of rock n roll. Yes, he was playing the piano. His nickname was The Killer.
The “necklace” was a microphone. He sang and played it live.
Jerry Lee Lewis did some Country Music songs too. His cousin Mickey Gilley was a Country Music singer as well.

if you want to be a reactor don’t stop the video so much. Stop it once or twice then make the rest of your comments at the end.
You talk too much in your reactions, just listen then comment!
UHG! I had to stop watching. Too many interruptions and too much talking.
