Well we got in a good win tonight. It was great to see Story playing so well. I see what we have missed almost the entire season. A home run and stolen bases tonight to win the game. Great play at shortstop. May he be completely healthy and injury free next season!!!
Great video Corbin ! Here's to Campbell !!! I am glad you called out Hamilton here too. I was pretty pleased with the player he evolved into as the season went on. It's going to be quite the competition for second base next season. I also want to sends congrats to NIck Yorke who was called up to the Pirates! Very deserving. I wasn't very happy with his trade for Preister. I know we are pretty well supplied at the second base position but that doesn't give us the go ahead to not get reasonable value for a good prospect . Had we gotten someone similar to the talents of Richard Fitts I would be good. I want to be wrong on this and I do hope Preister ends up doing well for us. Its just that I have not seen that so far with the majority of games he has pitched for us since coming over. I want to again thank you for all your efforts this season. You were definitely off the charts! You absolutely rock !!! My wish for you is that some day you get a dream job in baseball. We will have a lot to talk about during this off season. :). Stay well. Campbell has been unreal, couple him with Anthony and this farm looks insane. We have more than a few question marks when it comes to pitching (if only Perales stayed heathly), but still looking hot
As a Red Sox fan you should be quite optimistic with Kristian Campbell along with Roman Anthony now knocking on the big league door ... I like what I see with Campbell's hitting mechanics and aggressive approach at the plate ... With Campbell and Anthony most likely heading to Fenway next season, our Sox potentially should be one of the top three offenses in MLB ... Hopefully Craig Breslow can make an impactful off season trade in moving some of the surplus of capable left hand hitters in the organization for a promising top of the rotation young starter ... Wait til' next year ! ... Go Red Sox in 2025 ! ...
@@likearollingstone007 Excellent point which I failed to mention ... This current batting order needs to make it their #1 priority in doing a much better job making consistent contact if it truly wants to be an elite offense in 2025 ...
What can we expect the timeline on these young guys coming up? Roman Anthony, Kyle Teel, Marcelo Mayer & Kristan Campbell? I appears Breslow will have his hands full clearing the MLB roster to eventually make room for these players. Going to be an interesting offseason. Thanks Corbin.
Talked about it in the video a bit I think Campbell and Anthony have the best shot at breaking camp with the team with teel not far behind a Mayer a bit after that
Campbell definitely deserves a chance to earn a spot on the major league team in 2025. It's going to be really interesting to see where they plan on playing him. I'm still thinking Grissom is going to be the second baseman of the future. There's going to be lots of things to pay attention to in the off season. Obviously they have to fix the pitching first but figuring out second base is going to be very interesting moving forward. I'll be paying attention 😜
It will be fun to watch in the spring who rises to the challenge for a roster spot especially 2nd base. Gotta love what you read and hear about Campbell. Looking forward to hopefully a great 2025 fir the Boston Red Sox. Interesting offseason coming up.
Congrats to Mr. Campbell for a wonderful season and I hope he gets to make some nice contributions going forward. Those team second base numbers you were flashing were pretty eye opening and concerning.
Grissom has reached base multiple times in 12 straight AAA starts and has a 1.214 OPS and a .400/.564/.650 slash line in that time. His bat has been hot over his last 19 games, and I'd be surprised if they didn't bring him up soon to finish out the season with the major league club. That being said, the Red Sox love positional flexibility, and Campbell has it, and Grissom doesn't. I can see Campbell, Anthony, and Teel all opening the season with the major league club (Teel seems to finally have figured out AAA pitching, and may at this point be the best option they have to back up Wong - until, of course, he surpasses Wong). It'll require some trades to make room - Yoshida and cash is the first one I think of, but I fear they may have to send one of my favorite players Wilyer Abreu away as well. There just isn't room for everybody. They can stow some people in the minors as depth, or until an injury comes along, but that's for guys like Valdez and Gasper who look like replacement-level players. You don't keep your future All-Stars there. I just wonder where this leaves David Hamilton. He's definitely good enough to be on a major league roster, and I really like his energy, always smiling! I hope they find a way to keep him around.
I’m so looking forward to seeing Roman Anthony & Kristian Campbell in Boston. It wouldn’t surprise me for these two to become the Ortiz & ManRam of this generation. Campbell is the real freaking deal. I’m just begging ownership to go out and acquire pitching for 2025. If we acquire pitching the Red Sox will be in the best position to legitimately compete since 2018.
I definitely think the competition is very healthy for Grissom, Campbell may not break through, but it is very good that one of them will be at 2nd on opening day and they’ll have earned the spot.
The Sox should be so loaded with talent next year, that they are going to have to move some good players. Refsnyder wants to retire. O'Niel's a FA. Abreu and Yoshida are likely expendable with at least two gone. Anthony and Campbell are ready. You still have Duran and Raphaella in the OF. Story could be expendable, but Raphaella and Mayer can take over. 2B won't be a problem, either. Campbell, Hamilton, Grissom and Raphaella can split time there. Not to mention reserves like Romy, Sogard and Valdez. Would you sign Bregman (originally drafted by the Sox, but went unsigned) and move Devers to DH?
You kinda dodge around my question last night. In order to get a trade for a top pitcher, what top prospects gets dealt? The examples that you mentioned don't move the needle. Trading Yoshida makes all the sense in the world, but the RS would have to add prospects or cash. Top 3 candidates in my humble opinion 1. Mayer 2. Abreu 3. Hamilton ❤
As we move into the off-season we can start playing arm chair GM. Coming into 2024 here is the list of players on their final year of minor league options: C Connor Wong INF Bobby Dalbec LHP Brennan Bernardino C Tyler Heineman RHP Cooper Criswell Dalbec, and Heinemann are gone. Of the remaining three, I think Wong is not going anywhere (but it would be helpful to work on his defensive game). That leaves Bernadino and Criswell. They both had times where they delivered (though Bernadino has regressed). Question: should the Red Sox plan to have them in 2025 knowing that they can not be optioned to Worcester?
The last time a player shot through the minors like this was Mookie Betts. He happened to come up as a 2nd baseman. I believe both will be up opening day 2025. Teele also has a chance. Story is blocking Mayer. I think Grissom also has a shot too. Campbell can also play outfield. So there may be room for both is Yosida is moved.
So Campbell is shut down. However i said during All-star weekend that Cora should have rested Raffy, but no, they have to play him until he finally cooled off at the plate. Why? 🤔
The farm is definitely the silver lining to the 2024 season …spring training is going to a lot of fun. It’s Grissom or Campbell at 2nd. I think Anthony gets one more year in the minors at 20 years old. How they are going to get some major league pitching talent is the big question 🙋♂️

Hamilton's a great guy to have on the bench imo. A barely below average (But still serviceable enough you're fine keeping him in as a defensive sub) fielder with an alright bat into rhp and elite baserunning. The guy is born to be a pinch hitter/pinch runner who can put in some starts. It's not a super glamorous title, but it's a specific niche I think he fills very very well.
@@diegobrandomtg In April, I was ready to dump Hamilton. He proved me wrong. He is an adequate 2nd baseman and I believe this skid happened when he got hurt. But, I believe Campbell is the future. The Red Sox are too left-handed. Campbell is a right handed bat. I would keep him as a utility player and play him 2 or 3 times a week at 2nd. He has shown he is capable of stepping in if needed. I also like his speed. I would not be against putting him in a package for a stud pitcher. But, I would much prefer they trade Valdez

I just checked. Hamilton, Valdez, and Romy Gonzalez who played a fair amount of time this season still have minor league options for 2025. Of course Sogard does as well. They could all find themselves at Worcester next season as depth pieces. I think Grissom / Campbell will be sorted in Spring training for the everyday 2nd baseman. If Grissom gets 2nd base, I have mixed feelings about using Campbell as the super utility player. On the one hand he has the talent to field multiple positions and a bat that makes it a crime to leave off your roster. On the other, I feel a player of this caliber should be an everyday position player.
I think I absolutely agree with you, I also wonder if moving him around too much would lessen the focus of making the biggest adjustment in MLb which will end up being at the plate

And Grissom, who has been destroying the baseball the last couple months fully healthy again, will be at 2B. Mayer needs a full year at AAA, and as far as what they do in 2026 at short, cross that bridge when we get there.
