Every time i hear this song i feel like crying because, i too remember when i was young. You canot reverse time...true, real (youth) cannot be bought..., no matter how much money you have. Your just left with so many memories, both good and bad, and back to a time where you had the whole world at your feet and your whole life ahead of you..
Having religion is like having a penis. It's ok to have one and ok to use it - but you don't get it out in public and you don't try ramming it down someone else's throat!!
When I was in my early twenties, my mother would sing this song or listen to it and cry. I didn’t really understand her tears at the time. Now I am my mother. I’m writing this through my tears.
Beautiful Song and sooo veröffentlicht true, now i am 76 and always burst into teams listening to it, friends and family members are no länger arround, halte is extremly weak
My Father played this song For me shortly before he passed away a year and a half ago. He cried and he confessed his awareness of how badly he treated my mother, his kids and friends throughout his life. I forgive him.
I am here again listening to my song yesterday! When I am in my room alone, I am just thinking of my younger years and wish I could start over to make things different. 😢 How I wish we could born and get mature knowing everything we know today. 🤔 Sending love and blessings to all who read this. GOD BLESS YOU. 🙌🏼
When I first heard this song I was a teenager it was ok, now I am in my sixties and now this song means so much to me it brought me to tears because life moves so fast. I remember yesterday when I was young.
I ran so fast, that I thought that I would burn up....now I sit on my front porch hardly able to walk...so many songs I have sung as the years have ran away...memories like so many leaves in the wind pass before my eyes everyday...they keep me company as I mumble the melodies of so many happy songs from my younger days...so many friends have passed into memories....I cannot believe that I did not burn up when I was young so fast did I run that I thought that I would touch the very sun. Now I sit on my porch and reflect on the days when I was young, when I still believed, when hope still sang to me of that which only the young believe....it was a life filled with songs, hope, and love and now in my old age, I dare to remember that time!
it makes you realise how swiftly those young youthful days have gone by and nothing is for ever..... Do enjoy the goodness of the moment you are in and leave happily without any remorse !!
Crying listening to this music as I ponder through the good and bad years growing up. And how many painful memories more than good ones. Makes me wonder why I'm still here when it's easier and no more heartaches to move on to the other side.
Yesterday, when I was young The taste of life was sweet Like rain upon my tongue I teased at life as if It were a foolish game The way an evening breeze Would tease a candle flame The thousand dreams I dreamed The splendid things I planned I always built to last On weak and shifting sand I lived by night and shunned The naked light of day And only now I see How the years have ran away Yesterday, when I was young There were so many songs That waited to be sung So many wild pleasures That lay in store for me And so much pain my dazzled eyes refused to see I ran so fast that time And youth at last ran out I never stopped to think What life was all about And every conversation That I can recall Concerns itself with me And nothing else at all Yesterday, the moon was blue And every crazy day Brought something new to do And I used my magic age As if it were a wand And never saw the waste And emptiness beyond The game of love I played With arrogance and pride And every flame I lit So quickly, quickly died The friends I made all seemed Somehow to drift away And only I am left On stage to end the play Yesterday, when I was young There were so many songs That waited to be sung So many wild pleasures That lay in store for me And so much pain my dazzled eyes refused to see There are so many songs in me that won't be sung I feel the bitter taste Of tears upon my tongue And The time has come for me To pay for yesterday When I was young.
I loved Glen Campbell. He sang like an angel. This is my favourite rendition of this song. It really gets to my heart and soul. love you Glen. Now you're singing with my papa in heaven.😪
Among all the songs about 'yesterday', this song is the best but it's a very underrated song. Maybe people can understand this song after the age of 40 or even later. Whenever I listen to the song, everything from the past visualized in front of my eyes like some movie and I get very emotional.
I think this discribes many peoples life's, what we could have done but didn't. I'm one of those people. I have had quite a good life don't get me wrong, but looking back does bring a lump I my throat of what else iv missed. DON'T WASTE YOUR LIFE. Its a very short time here. I'm now just coming up to 66 👌😁👍
Im at my 50's now can stop but cry listening to this song, how i wish we would stay young, for our children,,my youngest is at its his 15 now,and i pray to GOD he will let me live until i see and hug my grandchildren from my youngest🙏🙏🙏🙏
It's not bad to enjoy your youth but you must keep in your mind that nothing last forever. And never end up with regrets for the things you should and shouldn't done when you're still young.
This song perfectly reflects my Yesterday when i was young and all the foolish things i have done . There were sadly consequences and i paid dearly . So many wasted years ,if i had only known then what i know now , but i can honestly say i am at Peace now thank God !
This song is for me at 65...I remember it playing when I was young...and knew someday when I'm old I could play it again and again to remember when I was young!
i have lost so many friends over the last 25 years. so the line "and only i am left on stage to end the play" tears at my heart. at 63 i know i have far fewer days ahead of me than i have behind me. until it's my time to go i will continue to remember when i was young.
Will forever love this song as this was my late brother's favorite song. I love my brother so dearly and i miss him so much. I always cry when I hear this song. I will keep playing this song until I die and be with my brother again.
The memories of the past reborn again by this song. It goes thru your heart touching deeply into your soul to brought you in tears remembering those younger days of yesterday's.
I feel so lucky I hear this song again now in my 40's... never too late to change things and make up for the wasted years not really wasted coz those were lessons. Thank you for the song.❤️❤️❤️
This is one of the best renditions I have ever seen. The canoe that moves from right to left and leaves the picture with the ending of the song. The lyrics that perfectly match Glen Campbells beautiful voice. The overall meaning of the song from your past to the present and the future. It is what we all go through and teaches us how we should treat one another!
Now at my 51 listening this so ng thank for my yesterday and now many things run out but no regerts thankfully for God the everyday Everything ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I have Glen Campbell’s autobiography. This has also been sung by Roy Clark but the words could be Glen’s life-the women, the drugs and drinking, multiple marriages and children, on and on. His parents and family were praying for him and in the end he came back to the Lord Jesus Christ. He was good friends with Alice Cooper, who also is a strong Christian. Though Alzheimer’s took its toll, he is in Heaven now with Jesus Christ and enjoys an existence that is by far greater than anything on this earth. For all time! Love this song, remember it well.
i realy in tears...as boy with two sisters and one brother who past away..i regret a lot of time that me and my sibling's staying far apart..if i can go back and turn the time back,i will choose to stay beside them..i miss those times when we where young
I don't know how I came about this song a few weeks ago but I did and been playing it everyday 3-4 times per day. But now it has gotten to the point where I sometimes cry listening to the lyrics. I reminisce of the good old days, friends that have transitioned and my life period. I guess I am getting old (67) Great song, Love it. I use to think that at the final curtain for me they will be playing " I Did It My Way." And addition to that song it will definitely be " When I Was Young."
This song relates to my life . When I was young , I didn't think about the future , I just did what I wanted to do & hang the consequences, taking each day as it came . Now I am 71 & have leukaemia & will soon have to pay for the consequences. I look back thinking that I wasted my life . Don't waste yours.
Everytime I listen to this song I get emotional as I feel my youth slowly escaping my body. Regardless who sing this I feel the sadness all the way to my old bones. But it's refreshing to listen to it over and over.
Such a lovely song by a great artist have you heard Roy Clark sing this song stunning just stunning I hope you all find the truth someday soon Mike Sol’s
I am 27, and keep playing this song, feeling scared, that I may reach 60 with full of regrets... I am now starting to make questions in my mind, what should I do for me to regret nothing when I get old? How would I know? Coz now, although I'm still 27, I feel like I lost a lot of my years already... I wanted to go back and change everything but I can't... There were days that I can see the future, there were days that I don't. Literally like I have nothing in mind and I don't know what to do. But if there is one thing that I want to do so badly right now, that is to go far away alone and will not think of anyone, anything, but myself only. That if I need to cut connections, I will... I badly needed a break from the people around me right now, from the environment that I am in right now. I want to make a new start but how? The saddest part, I can't take the step to do that and I am dying inside...
You still have many years ahead of you, the best thing you can do is to love yourself and in doing this the riffle effects of it you will also feel the love.
We can't avoid mistakes in our lives dear...nobody's perfect. We learn from our mistakes and take the lessons from it. You can't live a life full of regrets. The people who succeeded and blessed to live longer are not exempted from regrets for sure, but they have lived through it and walked past on it. Live each day at a time, be patient and be accountable of your actions. Life is a beautiful gift from God, from our Maker, use it and live on it with joy and peace that comes from Him. No one is able to add 1 day on his life by worrying of his/her future.. but it will shorten your life.. so, live your life one day at a time. Be grateful for each day that you are able to live by. If you think you need to cut ties with the people that surround you right now, it's your choice.. surround your life with people who can lift you up and guide you.. but do not be dependent on them as well... you cannot have what you don't give/ you can't give what you don't have either.. God bless you..
I miss this song a lot . The lyrics is so beautiful . It brings me so much memories when i was in high school . I remember my life from the start .🇵🇭⭐⭐⭐⭐🤠
this reminds me of my dearly beloved father who loves me soooooooMUCH AND what i didn't\did do that made him sad and rejoice.. i jz can't stop thinking HOW BEiN a FATHER's GiRL COULD have a negative impact on how i would be treated both my mom and siblings..BUT that made me love my dearly beloved father the MOST.. YOU WiLL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN iTAY..it still makes me cry jz thinkin bout you and listenin to this song.. #GODBLESSus
I love listening to this song,,reminds me when i was a kid,,no problems and playing all day wtih my friends, now that i'm getting old full of stress and worries,,😢
Whatever foolishness we did when we were young, we could always renew it and start a brand new life today by seeking God and have him in our heart ...
This song telling my life with its words
Yes
Having religion is like having a penis. It's ok to have one and ok to use it - but you don't get it out in public and you don't try ramming it down someone else's throat!!
When I was in my early twenties, my mother would sing this song or listen to it and cry. I didn’t really understand her tears at the time. Now I am my mother. I’m writing this through my tears.

My Father played this song For me shortly before he passed away a year and a half ago. He cried and he confessed his awareness of how badly he treated my mother, his kids and friends throughout his life. I forgive him.
It's wonderful that your Father came to that awareness. ❤
Very few people regret their bad behaviour. My parents never did.
My mom kind of said she was sorry, my dad... never. Narcissist the whole way
I am here again listening to my song yesterday!
When I am in my room alone, I am just thinking of my younger years and wish I could start over to make things different. 😢
How I wish we could born and get mature knowing everything we know today. 🤔

I love it by Roy Clark also. Beautiful song.
I am debating whether or or not to play this at my funeral
OMG, how time flies...sometimes I can't believe I'm now in my mid-sixties.
Beautiful song, I'm moved.
I’m also in my mid 60s. Those were the days that we could do anything that we want. Enjoy life. We can not turn back the hands of time
When I first heard this song I was a teenager it was ok, now I am in my sixties and now this song means so much to me it brought me to tears because life moves so fast. I remember yesterday when I was young.

I am also 62 and all the plans that I made and tried that did not work out .I built on weak and shifting sand .
Feeling the same.

This song makes aging a painfully wonderful experience.
"Если бы молодость знала, если бы старость могла."
Hi..kaka sad..i just remember when i was young..kung maibabalik lang ang nakaraan.mas masarap ang buhay ng 50-60 -70 eras.
My father's favourite song when I was a kid. Now that he's gone, tears fall and dries my throat everytime I hear this song. A very wonderful song.
RIP.
The song reminds me how i survived youthful struggle for success! Ultimately, i achieved my dream!
Such a powerful song. All I can do is tear up when I hear it. It pulls on my heart strings. Reflection.
I always listened to this song over and over again. This song is really beautiful. I cry when I hear it. Not boring

A bittersweet reminder of a yesterday not wisely spent... a song beautifully sung by the rhinestone cowboy...
it makes you realise how swiftly those young youthful days have gone by and nothing is for ever.....
Don't say that. You are alive for a reason. We all feel that way sometimes, but we must have something unfinished because we wake up! God bless you.
Yesterday, when I was young
The taste of life was sweet
Like rain upon my tongue
I teased at life as if
It were a foolish game
The way an evening breeze
Would tease a candle flame
The thousand dreams I dreamed
The splendid things I planned
I always built to last
On weak and shifting sand
I lived by night and shunned
The naked light of day
And only now I see
How the years have ran away
Yesterday, when I was young
There were so many songs
That waited to be sung
So many wild pleasures
That lay in store for me
And so much pain my dazzled eyes refused to see
I ran so fast that time
And youth at last ran out
I never stopped to think
What life was all about
And every conversation That I can recall
Concerns itself with me
And nothing else at all
Yesterday, the moon was blue
And every crazy day
Brought something new to do
And I used my magic age
As if it were a wand
And never saw the waste
And emptiness beyond
The game of love I played
With arrogance and pride
And every flame I lit
So quickly, quickly died
The friends I made all seemed
Somehow to drift away
And only I am left
On stage to end the play
Yesterday, when I was young
There were so many songs
That waited to be sung
So many wild pleasures
That lay in store for me
And so much pain my dazzled eyes refused to see
There are so many songs in me that won't be sung
I feel the bitter taste
Of tears upon my tongue
And The time has come for me
To pay for yesterday
When I was young.
Every word that goes to it's stansa has brought a firm truance of what life is all about. It's a superb song. The Composer is GREAT AND VERY CREDIBLE.
I loved Glen Campbell. He sang like an angel. This is my favourite rendition of this song. It really gets to my heart and soul. love you Glen. Now you're singing with my papa in heaven.😪

This is so true that
tears would well up in my eyes for my
reckless indiscretion
that caused much pain and heartache
to others. I am sorry
A beautiful song sung by many wonderfully talented artists but this version by Glen is the best
Dear Glenn, keep on singing wherever you are now, I'm sure you're young again! At your prime age.. ☺️👍

Masterpiece. It sums it up for me at 67.
You said it all, can't add to it.
Listening to this in my late 70's, and thinking of the days gone past, yesterday.
Only Campbell and Roy Clark really got this song and sang it like the story it was with the correct feelings

If you think you need to cut ties with the people that surround you right now, it's your choice.. surround your life with people who can lift you up and guide you.. but do not be dependent on them as well... you cannot have what you don't give/ you can't give what you don't have either..
God bless you..
