Hi Paul, This is an Etta James cover of I rather go Blind. The Harmonica player played for Etta James for 16 Years as a saxophone player. He came out of retirement for Angelina cuz he knew Etta was her Idol. Angelina is the G.O.A.T. IMO!
You can tell how comfortable she is with the jazz blues. It will always be her foundation no matter where AJ goes from here. For Jimmy Z to kneel to Angelina was such an honor. That was him crowning her the true queen of jazz, and all music for that matter. Outstanding.
I really do love her singing bluesy and jazzy. Her voice runs up and down your body and brain wonderfully supportet by Jimmy Z. I really hope they will do perform more songs together. It is my favorite from this concert.
Nice reaction! Jimmy Zavala, a.k.a Jimmy Z, is an American musician who is notable for playing harmonica on the Eurythmics song "Missionary Man" and performing with the band live. He also played live as part of Rod Stewart's band and appears on "Weird Al" Yankovic's albums "Weird Al" Yankovic in 3-D, Dare to Be Stupid and UHF - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack and Other Stuff. As a studio musician, he also played with Etta James, Tom Petty, Ziggy Marley and Bon Jovi. On his album Muzical Madness, he collaborated with Dr. Dre and ventured into hip-hop. So lucky to be performing with this legend!
I left a really long comment about my experience seeing her live last night but it disappeared so let me give this another try. I give the concert a 100000000000/10. If you could go, GO SEE HER LIVE. After the show, you won't even care how your bank account looks because all you'll have is a happy soul and heart coming out of the venue. She is such a strong, consistent, and well-rounded performer. When the music starts, it doesn't matter what she was doing beforehand. She closed her eyes and it is so visible that she goes someplace else in her mind. You can really see how singing brings her soul so much peace. It is so moving to watch. She sang some of her most loved covers, originals, and an unreleased song. She also sang All Of Me (John Legend) with Scott (Pentatonix). I vital signs went through the roof when Scott came out, I really love his voice. She ended up coming out at 8pm and the concert ended at 10;30pm. I hoped that she would sing her AGT version of Bohemian Rhapsody and she did. I can't begin to explain the intensity of chills that I felt. She is also so humble and grounded, it was so nice to hear her speak with so much wisdom and gratitude. It didn't feel like a concert, it felt like she was just singing for us in her living room or something. I honestly felt like I paid too little for the experience, I 100% recommend seeing her live if she comes to a city close enough for you to travel to. I am only four years older than her, it is a shame that I hardly saw any younger folks in the audience. Too bad for them, they are missing out. I saw lots of older folks from all across Europe, I love that people travel such big distances to watch her. I had it easy, I only had to drive an hour to get to the venue. Like I said, just watching her get submerged in the music is inspiring itself. If she could stay in that theatre and sing for us all night, she absolutely would. Maybe it is because majority of the audience were older folks, but this is the first concert I have ever been to that has been this well organized. Getting in and out of the venue was a breeze. After last night, I have a whole new level of love and respect for AJ and her family. She is truly an amazing person with an incredible gift, and I hope nothing but the best for her (personal life and career) because she deserves it. I hope folks at republic records have a plan for marketing + promotion because it is literally all she needs. The talent is there, it has always been there. I think a little bit more marketing would do a lot. But I do understand the family's intentions of moving slowly when it comes to AJ's career here in the states. Gaining crazy amounts of fame rapidly for someone so young can be disastrous if you're not careful. However, a little bit of a push in marketing wouldn't hurt. Also, I hope she continues doing more concerts because that will also help increase her audience. Nowadays, it is all about tik Tok, a ten second clip of a concert can easily go viral on the platform. Like I said earlier, a lot of older folks in the audience who most likely don't use tik Tok, and I saw that almost no one up front in the first few rows was recording either. Idk, maybe her team is planning on uploading 4k footage of the concert in the future. Let me wrap this up, because I could go on and on about this whole marketing topic, as someone that has watched top tier marketing in the Kpop realm.
@@kevingood4644 Okay so here is kind of a long thing. I should have added this to my original comment instead of giving a lame one sentence. I give it a 10/10 without a doubt. she is such a strong, consistent, and well rounded performer. she talks for a bit before and after each song and then once the music kicks in, it is like a switch is turned on. She absolutely travels to another place in her mind when she sings, it has always been visible from videos on TH-cam. However, seeing it in person, it just moves you. She mentioned it but even if she didn't, it is so clear that singing gives her soul so much peace. I was also impressed how she was able to collect herself after she got emotional towards the end of the concert, her vocals were still solid. You could not tell that she was on the verge of tears seconds prior. It didn't feel like a concert at all. It felt like she was just singing for us all in her living room or something, it was very intimate. She expressed how eternally grateful she is several times and she is such a humble, down to earth, and beautiful soul. She sang some of her most loved covers, originals, an unreleased song, and sang All Of Me (John Legend) with Scott (from Pentatonix). The concert was from 7pm to about 10:30pm. She had two very talented openers and she ended up coming out at around 8pm. I heard previous comments from people that went to her Vegas shows, they said that the band drowned out her vocals but it wasn't;t a problem last night. Like I said, 10/10 for me, I even felt like I paid too little for what I felt and experienced last night. Her mom was also ON IT, she was walking passed us and really was involved with receiving/guiding some guests in the theatre. Overall, I enjoyed the night, it felt like a very safe space to get vulnerable and even shed some tears.
Angelina knocked that out of the park!! And what can you say about Grammy winning Jimmy Z OMG, he toured with Etta James, that is just years of experience that was displayed! I will say it for Jimmy-Etta would be pleased! Thanks Chris!💯🇳🇴🇺🇸 Chris Walker’s TH-cam channel!
That is Jimmy Z playing the Harmonica, he played with Etta James, Frank Sinatra and many other Legendary Artists. They also worked together 3 years ago at Angelina’s TH-cam Christmas Specials along with other very impressive Legendary Artists. Best Christmas Album never made. Thank you for your reactions. They are fun to watch, enjoyable.
Actually the Christmas album has been made; "Driving home for Christmas ", with most of the songs from that actual online consert. Its on Spotify too..😊
AJ has already carved out her niche in history. Angelina Jordan, a prodigious talent from Norway, has been making waves in the music industry since her stunning victory on Norway's Got Talent at the tender age of seven. Her unique voice and style have captivated audiences worldwide, leading to a successful career at a young age. With her soulful renditions and mature vocal prowess, Angelina has drawn comparisons to legendary singers, including Celine Dion. Now, at 18, she continues to enchant listeners with her music, which includes a mix of original songs and covers that showcase her versatility and emotional depth. Her journey from a viral child star to a respected artist is a testament to her dedication and the support of her fans. As she steps into the limelight, Angelina Jordan is indeed poised to carry on the legacy of great musicians before her, and to elevate that greatness to a new level, bringing her own distinctive flair to the world stage.

A really Major blues song " I'd Rather Go Blind" an Etta James classic, a song Angelina always sings "out of the park", so especially delicious this evening with the addition of the harmonica. Absolutely beautiful.
Paul, Angelina first covered this song when she was 12, at home, setting on a couch with her new Newman mike turned backwards! She had received the mike as a 12th birthday present! That performance is, in my opinion, one of her top performances in her 10 + year career! But, thou she changed it quite a bit for this performance with the great Jimmy Z, I am now not sure which of the two versions I like best! Many of us fans had been waiting 6 years for her to do this song again!!
Angelina's talk at the beginning belongs to her own song "Love don't let me go" which she performed just before "I'd rather go blind" (which is in fact an Etta James original, co-written by Etta and Ellington Jordan).
Jimmy Z, the famous Sax Player, and mouth harp player who worked with Rod Steward, Etta James, the Eurythmics, and Doctor Dre, was part of the band for the show? Jimmy stated that AJ was the best he has ever played for.
18 years old. Eighteen years old. XVIII years old. Diez y ocho anõs. Watch this again. Take it all in. Look at her up there and who she's performing with. Better yet... Listen to it without looking. This was epic. World class. She's 18. 😶😳🤯
The video as you showed it was a bit misleading: this one definitely isn't an original, not by any means... she was referring to other originals of hers, several of which she sang at the conference, two completely new (in addition to Bad Valentine )
Cheers from Australia 🦘🇦🇺 no she did that on her couch at 13 that was Gold this is next level, yes you channel has world wide reach. I must confess I did a dum thing some time ago, unsubscribing from your channel, big mistake, you have great content and provide insights deeper than “ she sang that great”, whilst sitting on the corner of your unmade bed in your bedroom. Angelina put her cover of Etta James’ classic up on TH-cam at 13 while sitting on her couch with grandma filming it about 5 years ago. Angelina is just like a fine wine getting better and better with age.

Angelina singing blues is absolutely off charts..... She IS the Queen of modern vintage
