    I had Claude 3.5 make me an app in python for both mobile and pc for a TTRPG system I design. It has items, materials, prices, enemy stat blocks, and even encounter generators and tracking.
    It took me 4-5 hours going back and forth with Claude to make it based on my specifications, and I didn't even direct it in any way with my programing knowledge and experience. It would have taken me at least 1 month to make it on my own with all the little details it has.
    I will even include a character sheet at some point after I iron out a few more gameplay mechanics.
    The point of this is that I am no longer needed as a python developer.

    Of all possible reasons, getting excited about AI because it will drive business profitability is deeply weird and disturbing. We're building AI to free people to do things they find fulfilling. This might come as a shock as a CEO because you get lied to on a second by second basis by the people who have no choice but to please you, but most people don't like having a job, they just like being busy and having a positive impact on the world. The future we're heading toward is one where automation handles tedious work so we don't have to, not one where we work the same amount of time and just produce more. Your mind is not in the right place, and if that doesn't make you introspective, read it again until it does.

    • @MrSeadawg123
      @MrSeadawg123 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +31

      Uh it has nothing to do with the desire to keep busy. As that is what most jobs are anyway. Just busy work.
      And few could care less about having a positive impact. As it is the fear of an economic death. That keeps people beating their feet to eat.
      Right now in the world. The US is 4% of worlds population. Yet consumes 20% of worlds energy.
      You literally can not have the rest of the world living as we live. Without fighting over resources.

      Your post shows you lack even a basic understanding of economics. Saying that AI will improve profitability and help automate the economy means that, if successful, it will do precisely what you mentioned: free more people up to do what they actually want. You’re conflating “improving profitability” with “spending more time working,” when the exact opposite is true in this case.

    • @gubzs
      @gubzs 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@therainman7777 "Improved profitability and automating parts of the economy will automatically give us our lives back" - You just described the information age, a few decades during which exactly none of us got our lives back.
      The people in power drove that prosperity into skyrocketing company equity instead - rather than letting people live their lives, we moved the economic goalposts. People must now know how to use those tools, and apply them to be much more productive, to create more wealth for their employer.
      Instead of saying, "you only need to produce 100 product to live your life", the wealthy class said, "now you can produce 200 product in the same amount of time, so you must produce 200 product, and then you can live your life" and then that extra wealth created the billion and now trillion dollar companies that are worth more than many nations today.
      In fact, that discrepancy between wealth for the rest of us and wealth created for the equity holding class can be visualized with real inflation - the price change on hard assets like homes, and gold, which conveniently are both up 300-500% in dollar terms since 2000, while inflation is described as "only 3% per year" for us normal folk. Yeah right.
      Would wager I understand economics better than you. And by a lot, it would seem.

    But what happens when entry level jobs are replaced and even some jobs that required college degrees? A universal basic income will be needed at some point, but the question is how long will the government allow people to suffer in extreme poverty and homelessness before they make the switch. Will the stock market crash first? What about the economy? This creates issues as well though. The first is, how much money do you make the UBI? Too little will result in people feeling trapped in a world where they can’t grow to make more (which could have backlash), but too much could result in people leaving jobs to get on UBI. The trajectory would imply that at some point 95% or more jobs would be automated. However, given the current issues of control and power in the government I wouldn’t be surprised if this universal income would be used against the people to keep them under their ruling thumb. This means while we may have more “free time”, we may not have as much “free” time. Our current government will make more laws and regulations and enforce them to a higher degree than ever before. Not to mention Cyber attacks are still a very real threat. What about EMP’s from other countries? Being set back to the Stone Age after most working class hasn’t worked a day in their lives might be problematic to our survival in the long run. Slippery slope. But yes, I know a utopia is still possible and that’s what I’m hoping for.

In case you haven't noticed, we live on a finite planet. AI will only accelerate the use of available energy [already 3% of US power] resources. AI will not pay for itself through efficiency gains - there is no free lunch [2nd law of thermodynamics]. And renewables [solar, hydro, wind, geo] are not "renewable" if they need fossil fuels to manufacture [glass, steel, concreet, etc.]. Do the math.

      Because they have been given over to a reprobate mind as written in the Word. This reprobate mind is a devourer of generations as known by its end results such as war or better known in its raw terms 'destruction'.
      Why?
      Because such have rejected the Truth in return for the Lie who seeks to convince man that he is as a god, and that he needs no other higher being, for man itself he says is the higher being. However the Lie himself knows that such isn't true, but if he can get them to believe in this Lie then he can steal their birthright right from under them.
      Thus what you witness in this video is just that, the man being interviewed has been clearly coerced into propagating further robbery of man's birth right to the point where it has been transfered over to a machine, and so man who is the creditor to the Lie is attemptably subtracted from the equation, where now the Lie reigns supreme.
      However breathe easy for it is not so, as The Most High who we know as King Jesus will come to set His domain above such an abomination for it is only He who reigns supreme, and thus it will be known as in illusion whose sediments flow as liquid molten in the lake of fire and brimstone.
      So in all this it is key that you give glory unto the rightful source of who is The Creator, King Jesus, and not be fooled into thinking man supercedes His authority by exclaiming that 'man is god'

      I'm not a coder but I have saved myself $thousands in the last 12 months by using ChatGPT to modify JavaScript, php and regex in my Web sites that I would previously had to hire a coder to do. ChatGPT can teach me to code - it explains all the code it generates, but there's not really much point in me learning to code, because ChatGPT will always be better and faster than me. What I am learning though, is how to prompt ChatGPT more efficiently and what I can use it for. But it will be a long time before AI replaces my plumber 😂

Research, reading, writing, fixing, editing, consistency, all that. One year ago I was writing 2-3 papers a day. 14 hour days, a little screaming, bottles of caffeine. Today?
      Well, still 14 hour days and caffeine. But 12-14 papers a day (in a subject I have twenty years of experience in, mind you). Higher quality. Won't win a novel prize, but if I halved my output and doubled my creativity, there absolutely could be one or two patentable ideas per day.
      As a centaur, there is no comparison. No single human on their own could produce what I am producing, and to be blunt, I'm only *slightly*, ever so slightly above average. Not by much at all.

Human curated Synthetic data is much better , and the SelfPlay systems like deepmind's Alpha* are even more ideal . i think really there is more data then we can deal with the issue is we arent collecting it effectively at the moment . 2. Compute Limits , compute efficiency is still nearly exponential the nvidia Blackwell chips reinforced that curve , there is a definite limit ahead in the current substrate , however historically that pressure forges the next paradigm . also potential for another neural network architecture that is more efficient , transformers arent the best they just happen to fit our current gpu hardware well . 3. Power Constraints , im less informed about this , tho heard data centers struggling already . it may be that they actually need dedicated nuclear power for next gen centers , however it also seems like an issue of the centralized network architecture , much more ideal would be distributed federated training to spread the demand . Energy does seem super important for everything that more funding and developments should be made , more nuclear , while awaiting fusion .

Lee Sedol and AlphaGo are discussed shortly after 1:03:13 in the "Centaur" portion of the video ("The Future of Human-AI Collaboration"). Perhaps Lee Sedol gained more insight, but it seems he realized it was impossible to fathom the insights from the AI (AlphaGo) perspective. According to the "Lee Sedol" article at Wikipedia:
    "On 19 November 2019, Lee announced his retirement from professional play, stating that he could never be the top overall player of Go due to the increasing dominance of AI. Lee referred to them as being "an entity that cannot be defeated". In a 2024 New York Times article, Lee said, "losing to AI, in a sense, meant my entire world was collapsing." I work in the library, so I'm curious about how things will be. Also, I'd love an AI companion to chat with during the day to improve my life balance and food. 15 years sounds so long. Thank you for the interview.

      I wouldn't be surprised if AI eventually makes libraries obsolete. It's a sad future they are setting us up for.

    In 10 years, owning a humanoid robot will be like owning a car today. There’ll be tons of options from different companies, and people will probably even take out robot loans, haha!

    Dear Emad and Peter, what do you both think about Sentient AI?

  • @ChrisKoert
    @ChrisKoert 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Emad is great, I wish he did more interviews. His paper was solid and he's very consistent with his tone. I know it was his thoughts and I would've used AI to write it as well. I just think I would have taken out 3/4" of the "not just". The uneducated resisters disregard anything AI, they can't see the creativity and intelligence of the author. Somehow it's different then an author using an editor.

    Great video and great conversation. You mentioned UBI. Much better than UBI is UBS (Universal Basic Services) including free socialized education, quality social housing, quality health care, dental care, elder care, day care, free public transportation, full pensions and a job guarantee for anyone with a good wage and full benefits. All paid for by the govt. How to pay for it all? If you understand MMT then you already know it can all be easily paid for by the national govt with no need to raise taxes because ..surprise!.. national taxes do not pay for national spending (all national spending is the creation of new currency out of thin air and by govt decree). If you don't know MMT then now is the time to learn. Then you'll know the truth of how money really works. The national govt is nothing like a household because only the national govt can issue the currency. The national debt exactly equals the private surplus. And there are well established ways to easily control inflation. MMT plus democratic eco socialism means a sustainable healthy planet where all humans thrive with a good, productive life. So it's democratic eco socialism or extinction; the choice is ours.

    Maybe you'd like to explain how you came to this conclusion? Like what's the data that led you to this? After all, chat gpt, which is arguably one of the most advanced models, hasn't really proved itself to be all that useful. I think machine learning has application, but to claim that we're on the precipice of human level intelligence is just not supported by the evidence.

    AI+Robots will replace all the middlemen. They'll make the final product for the final user.
    People won't "need" you to "do" something for them and you won't either. Everyone will ask AI+Robots for whatever they want. People will interact not in a merchant exchange but for the sake of social interaction.

    With the amount of information available AI might be able to balance the budget and use of funds our government consistently mismanages.

    Does anyone recall? 10 years ago when 3D printing was going to revolutionize our personal lives? We were all going to have 3D printers in our houses and they were all going to produce most of the things we needed? I'm not saying that AI, which is a misnomer for current approaches to machine learning, is going to turn out the same way. However, there's no reason to believe it won't turn out the same way. No one has given us a use case where this technology consistently produces returns.

    Yes, there will be new types of jobs as yet uncreated. The problem is humans will have to compete with robots & AI for them, and the robots/AI cost pennies to employ. Human wages keep banks, the housing market & the stock market afloat.
