When first read your title thought you were saying good bye but when started talking knew you where not , .... .glad about that good video as always John o
a properly skimmed head and block with the correct gasket thickness will be as good as the original. If its just the head thats been done then its either damage to the block or more than likely the liners are sunk
Can see you are down ,but you are trying your best, you are made of sterner stuff than me I could not face all those narrow lanes you go down as always a great vlog.
Ello drive! the head gasket saga continues...I reckon initial problem cooked the o-rings that seal the liners to the block...now when she gets hot she lets the coolant past lowering the liner away from the head gasket....making it look like a head problem...If ya get bored on a night out western truck and tractor repair with Warren Rogers over in the states....hes rebuilt dozens of em.well worth a watch.Keep up the good work fella.
Hi Johno great video time to say goodbye to that truck did I see you unloading at a farm near totnes last Friday you were unloading in the road keep up the good work 👍👍
Great Monday catch up just in and have to go out again hoping sleet won’t turn to lying snow here.Hope the pumpkin has been turned into a carriage by now.😊😊 a.ok xx Have a safe and happy week and kind regards to your other half.
Hi John-o, going past the school in Axminster bought back memories of the Chideock hill run 😂😂, I was about as welcome as a hole in the head to those school run Mums, the last bit between the walls is the worst stretch😳 have a good week
@TruckerJohno in an 8 wheeler I would have struggled to get around that junction behind the pub, going around the corner by the church in Chard was a challenge as it was😳
DAF trucks lots of problems with head gasket and ECU problems has well John bing a retired international truck driver having driven from the the old 2800 daf 1985 through too Leyland DAF trucks 🚒 .. just saying the nicest thing about DAF is the bed 🛏️ great video 💯📸 john
If all else fails google. The xf engines have 2 weakspots , everything has been done to fix normal issues with heads compressor cyl head can bugger matters up even if new Second reckon this is urs cos of high mileage cyl liners drop due to cavitation of the seat in the block . Its common with those engines around 800,000kms loads forums about it .there is a fix special tool cuts new liner seat Good luck 👍
Hi John o how are you doing ? I always remember building up the air pressure on the Volvo B10Ms & low pressure gauge never sounded as loud as your scraped DAF. But I I’m a massive fan of the buses 🚍 I use to work on including the Volvo Citybuses which I thought were also brilliant Pal. 👍👍
Another excellent video John O, hopefully the boss will sort you out with a newer truck soon even though your old truck is ok, there’s always the feeling of going backwards! Keep up the good work and keep safe! 🙂👍🚛
It's not a maintenance issue numpty it's a fault with the truck that has happened during my week out, I've nursed it back then swapped into a different truck, daf aid won't do a head gasket on a call out 🙄
@TruckerJohno thats a problem, because you can't just pull the fuse on the dash, maybe there's something in editing software somewhere that can silence it after a few rings?
Too true make you oversteer too .first job remove every one I ever find .if on agency work .fitters reckon they don't do power steering pump any good either😂
You should have a Google and see if the newer truck is "known" for head gasket issues, or else let another mechanic have a go, maybe youtibes own Chris Allen could fix it properly
John-o: "I mostly do microwave meals, it's quicker and easier"... Wasn't it you I watched a couple of years ago frying burgers in a grill pan on your catwalk, using a portable gas hob? You're getting lazy in your old age mate!
I do enjoy cooking but it's just getting the time to do it, I've wasted food coz I just haven't had the time or it's been raining, I won't fry stuff in the cab as it stinks for days
Very special place where industries are at the end of an insanely narrow road. Congratulations to you for this driving and video.
Thanks 👍
Great video John
Shame about the truck keep up the good work
Thanks, will do
When first read your title thought you were saying good bye but when started talking knew you where not , .... .glad about that good video as always John o
No was my truck that is going goodbye 😁
a properly skimmed head and block with the correct gasket thickness will be as good as the original. If its just the head thats been done then its either damage to the block or more than likely the liners are sunk
Liners we're fine think the block has had it
Another great pal can see your gutted about your truck we’ve all been there… keep up the good work pal 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks I was more fed up with the constant issues
Can see you are down ,but you are trying your best, you are made of sterner stuff than me I could not face all those narrow lanes you go down as always a great vlog.
I wouldn't say down, just tired of the truck playing up
Another great video John o mate more tight lanes in your new old truck 😂😅😊
Yeah always down the lanes
Ello drive! the head gasket saga continues...I reckon initial problem cooked the o-rings that seal the liners to the block...now when she gets hot she lets the coolant past lowering the liner away from the head gasket....making it look like a head problem...If ya get bored on a night out western truck and tractor repair with Warren Rogers over in the states....hes rebuilt dozens of em.well worth a watch.Keep up the good work fella.
I do follow him
A lemon DAF, how apt since DAFfodils are often yellow. Another great video John, thanks.
Thanks
I am impressed with your road 🛣️ videos in the DAF XF John 😊😊😊😊😊
Thanks
Hi Johno great video time to say goodbye to that truck did I see you unloading at a farm near totnes last Friday you were unloading in the road keep up the good work 👍👍
Thanks, no that wasn't me
Great video mate.💯👊
Thanks, what did you like about it?
For me good to watch your videos, as a new pass I like to watch so I've got a good idea on what to expect...,👍🤔
A very good Tuesday morning to you sir
Thanks

Yeah safer to go around during school run
@TruckerJohno in an 8 wheeler I would have struggled to get around that junction behind the pub, going around the corner by the church in Chard was a challenge as it was😳
Another great video
Thank you very much what was your favourite part
Fingers crossed 🤞 your boss get you a lovely new truck 😊
Well not brand new but another second hand 1 day, no rush
@TruckerJohno he should take you with him to buy a lovely new second hand truck would you agree 👍
They will buy something plain and put bits on it anyway
@@TruckerJohno what year would you like
I'm not fused so long as it all works and is in good condition
DAF trucks lots of problems with head gasket and ECU problems has well John bing a retired international truck driver having driven from the the old 2800 daf 1985 through too Leyland DAF trucks 🚒

Yeah it has the best cab as well I think
If all else fails google. The xf engines have 2 weakspots , everything has been done to fix normal issues with heads

Yeah I've herd this but they ain't going to fix it
When a truck starts costing big money with no end in sight, it’s time to pass it on.👍
Exactly that And also it's not my truck, It's not my money, And it's not my say 🤷♂️
Getting us those decent camera angles on the reverse as well!
Glad you liked them
Hopefully you get a shiny new rig, with more LEDs! :D
What was it with you and LEDs 🤣
Passed a Cains farm truck heading south of Hereford last Tuesday great refined livery
Wouldn't have been me, glad you like the trucks
Nice to see they still dont cut the bloody hedges going into Pymore.😂😂
Nope 😂
Top vlog buddy
Thanks
Hi johno great video mate as always you might get a new xg daf 😊
I doubt it
@TruckerJohno 🤣🤣
Hi johno pity about your truck hpe you get something sorted chin up
Ah I'm fine 🫡
Hi John o how are you doing ? I always remember building up the air pressure on the Volvo B10Ms & low pressure gauge never sounded as loud as your scraped DAF. But I I’m a massive fan of the buses 🚍 I use to work on including the Volvo Citybuses which I thought were also brilliant Pal. 👍👍
Yeah the alarm on the DAF is quite obnoxious
@@TruckerJohno aye you can say that again for sure. I hope you have good week in your truck 🛻 whatever part of the country you’re in Pal. 👍
Another excellent video John O, hopefully the boss will sort you out with a newer truck soon even though your old truck is ok, there’s always the feeling of going backwards! Keep up the good work and keep safe! 🙂👍🚛
Yeah i will get another in due time
What a professional company Just keep topping it up ? Makes you wonder what other maintenance is been skipped ..
It's not a maintenance issue numpty it's a fault with the truck that has happened during my week out, I've nursed it back then swapped into a different truck, daf aid won't do a head gasket on a call out 🙄
😂@@TruckerJohno
Locals look like hard work, Take care,
Na it's not too bad
Another ace video John. Shame about S555. Anyway , onwards & upwards. I wonder what will be your next permanent truck ?
Who knows, time will tell
I expect the units have already done a fair few miles when he gets them from R R.
Yeah that are very well used though maintained well they are tired
Epic 😎
Thanks
See can you find the speaker making the beep and disconnect the wiring if its not soldered on or easily accessible
I think they are soldered to a board in the dash
@TruckerJohno thats a problem, because you can't just pull the fuse on the dash, maybe there's something in editing software somewhere that can silence it after a few rings?
Nothing that won't disrupt the rest of the audio
@TruckerJohno just cut it after three rings so
Liners probably dropped in the block due to corrosion/oxidation.
Also they could be corroded through.
Possibly
I'm to your channel and wondering what gps you are using? Haven't seen a gps showing directions like it does.
I take it you meant you're new to my channel if so welcome along I use a TomTom GO expert Plus
Pro 😂 no door knob on steering wheel needed.
Hell no, I can't stand them they just get in the way
Too true make you oversteer too .first job remove every one I ever find .if on agency work .fitters reckon they don't do power steering pump any good either😂
Yeah when I've used other people trucks I've removed them
At this stage if they don't find a warped or cracked head, i think its the spare parts bin for that one
Yeah it's being parted out
Dropped liner, heard it is a common DAF engine problem. It would bankrupt an owner driver.
Yeah I've herd this a lot but was a bit too inconsistent to be that i think
The only thing is your stay brighter on your other daf mate
Wheel,s mate
They was a bit scratched up but over all in better nick
Ever thought of a trucking career in d 🇺🇸 or 🇨🇦
I wouldn't mind giving it a go but the commute would be a pain
@TruckerJohno matey u will b moving der.. it wud b interesting watching u drive nd gearshift a classic Kenny or a pete...
@paul.-jj6yh I'd happily drive 1 but I wouldn't move from here, maybe a working holiday
The head is probably warped or cracked or they're using a really cheap head gasket
No the head was skimmed and was a daf head gasket think the block is knackered
What price new engine ? .Is she worth it.
She's cost too much already so not financially viable
😢
👍👍
Are you staying
Why would I be leaving🤔
You should have a Google and see if the newer truck is "known" for head gasket issues, or else let another mechanic have a go, maybe youtibes own Chris Allen could fix it properly
Ah it is what it is
@TruckerJohno probably better off cutting your losses
Forums all talk about cyl liners dropping due to seats failing seems logical
John-o: "I mostly do microwave meals, it's quicker and easier"...
Wasn't it you I watched a couple of years ago frying burgers in a grill pan on your catwalk, using a portable gas hob? You're getting lazy in your old age mate!

Disconet the wire to the bleeper
Not that simple it's soldered to a board
