In the animators defense, Naoko Takeuchi wanted Usagi's hair silver from day one. The editors insisted that there be more colour to show up better on coloured art. So, Usagi's hair turned blonde.. But there are occasions where it is portrayed as silver. Her original mother had it and presumably Neo-Queen Serenity is supposed to have it as well. I think it's basically retconned as a side effect of Ginzouishou (the Silver Crystal).
That is a good theory you have there and it could be that now that the Silver Crystal has been passed on to her daughter that the side-effects of it has worn off and it changed her hair back to blonde.

The oldest concept art had way different outfits and usagis hair was pink. Then she made it blonde and wanted it silver for the sailor moon/princess form. Her editor thought the colour contrast wouldnt show... but naoko managed to sneak in the silver for usagis true queen form and cosmos form anyways. And her old concept of the pink hair got rehashed into chibiusa.
The silver hair just makes her look so much more regal, that’s what I loved about Season 2 of Crystal. Plus, silver hair is what separates Neo-Queen Serenity and Usagi apart. It’s been stated that after she was crowned Queen, her hair turned silver- showing her fully becoming Neo-Queen Serenity and her maturity.

I thought they stopped aging after usagi and mamoru became king and queen? I honestly think they prefer the blonde hair. I do to. she was a complete bomb shell in this scene with blonde hair, with white she's pretty sure but that's about it to me. And I honestly think they try to do throw backs to how the 90s. I know in crystal they're more or less following the manga but doesn't mean they have to completely. their are shows who follow their manga but not completely and end up surprising the fans in a great way. She was meant to have silver in senshi form but naokos editor thought it wouldnt show very well on the colour pages. So naoko slipped it in anyways for her true form. It also signifies her true power. On a side note. Her earliest concept art had pink hair hence why she made chibiusa the pink one later. The old anime never gave this hair colour distinction. And while the new anime certainly does... no one is going back years ago to remember naokos interviews unless like me you got one hell of a memory
I like to think of it as her white hair manifests as she becomes able to control her powers/ascends to her princess/queen form as its her lunarian side becomes more dominant.

Thank you, as always, fan are correcting mistakes made by Toei. Serenity's blonde hair really pisses me off since her actual hair is silver/white. We saw in this way during Season 2, and even in a flashback in Season 3, so I don't understand why they bother to use blonde hair again.

Philip Ageling Yeah I know :( I feel like the only reason toei changed the art style was because it was much easier to draw which would mean less noticeable errors. Clearly, that wasn't the case. Less errors to fix means that they wouldn't have to pay a 3rd party to touch up the bluray. Imo, i feel like the reason the blurays sold well in s1 and 2 were because of the changes. The art style was gorgeous and seeing the art fixed would make it even better.

The serenity prayer shows sign of things that happening in each arcs of the Manga, Crystal, Eternal and Cosmos of consequence of mistakes but can change things by making things right with courage and wisdom with the power of love they can do anything fixing things making things better than before to make a difference. Neo Queen Serenity tells her daughter Small Lady Sailor Chibi Moon that you made mistakes but can fix things to make things right that's why I need you. Chibi Usa made a bunch mistakes that she thought she doing the right thing but she realized it was wrong that lead to consequence such as taking her mother's Silver Crystal which lead the Black Moon to attack Crystal Tokyo, then keeping things a secret to Usagi and the others which cause the Black Moon to take Mars, Mercury and Jupiter which Chibi Usa realized she shouldn't keep thing a secret because she was afraid, then she meet Wiseman and he but her under a spell turning her into Black Lady to have her destroy her own future but she able to overcome this by having the courage and wisdom to change things to make things right by helping Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask defeat Death Phantom and fix everything and that what Serenity gives Chibi Usa a sign to Accept the things you cannot change, have the courage to change the thing you can and have the wisdom to know the difference and that is why I like Chibiusa a lot better in the manga, crystal, eternal and cosmos than the 90's anime because the Serenity Prayer.

How do you know for sure when exactly Neo Queen Serenity tells Small Lady about Super Sailor Moon? If Small Lady is over 900 years old, so maybe the Queen talked to her about it in XXIst cenury, and then she probably still had blonde hair. I'm just speculating because time reference is very complicated in the relation between Usagi, ChibUsa and Neo Queen Serenity. But if Neo Queen Serenity is future Usagi, who has visited the future before becoming the queen, she should know the fact that Small Lady will meet Sailor Moon who will come back from the past to help save the XXXth century Earth. On the other hand we don't know if the disturbance in time flow caused by ChibiUsa's visit in the past and bringing Sailor Moon to the future influences the past events as well or it is just working in the future. Cosmic Heart Compact is the brooch from the future, so in fact Neo Queen Serenity changed the flow of time and caused that the future will be different. As we know Sailor Moon becomes Neo Queen Serenity at the end of the manga's Dream Arc, so this is after she receives the brooch from the future Neo Queen Serenity. It's quite confusing.
NASZE VIDEO I don't think that future timeline would be the same for usagi anymore. Because in that future timeline with pluto and chibiusa, when usagi was sailor moon, she didn't have a chibiusa to come down and help her/tag along with her. So my own theory is that for that future neo queen serenity, her battles only stopped at metalia and then later did nothing else until she became queen. This explains why in season 2 when the inners from the future had no upgrade and looked exactly the same as the inners we know. There wouldn't be a need for upgrades if the battle was over with just metalia.Just my own lil theory xD
Interesting theory but if it was true, Neo Queen Serenity wouldn't have the Moon Chalice in her palace. Chibi Usa mentions it before Usagi and Mamoru make one for her. On the other hand the presence of the Moon Chalice in the Crystal Palace might be the result of giving Cosmic Heart Compact to the past Usagi, and changing the flow of actions. However it is still not clear when exactly the Queen told Small Lady about Super Sailor Moon. If we assume that the presence of the Moon Chalice in Queens room is the result of the change of the timeline caused by the Moon Heart Compact passed to Usagi from the future, then the queen could only tell Chibi Usa about Super Sailor Moon when she came back to the future after the Black Moon Arc, (then it is right for her to have white hair) but why didn't the queen simply tell Chibi Moon how to defeat Pharaoh 90 if it had already been defeated (the presence of the Chalice proves it). It's still quite unclear. :) The appearance of the Chalice in the future should also change the Queen's memories, shouldn't it? Or maybe she just didn't want to tell her daughter too much, because she knew how things were going to be. Moreover in the finale of the Dream part of the manga, when Eternal Sailor Moon appers there is a remark made by Diana that Eternal Sailor Moon is the one, whose power is the closest to Neo Queen Serenity's. It would imply that Neo Queen Serenity is the final form os Sailor Moon after she becomes Eternal, and the only change in the timeline takes place in Stars when Sailor Chaos and Sailor Cosmos appear. There is a situation in the manga when Neo Queen Serenity and King Endymion welcome Small Lady in the Crystal Palace after she has finally come back to the future and then timespace changes and Eternal Sailor Pluto tells the queen that something is changing in the past, which may cause the change of history. And then the queen sends Chibi Moon and the Sailor Quartet back to the past to help Sailor Moon fight against Galaxia. So if there are eternal sailor senshi in the future it means, that the actions in the present influence the future constantly, changing it according to what is currently happening. And this is in a way inconsistent, because if Neo Queen Serenity is an after- Eternal Sailor Moon-form of Usagi then why doesn't she remember everything which happened up to the time when Usagi became Eternal Sailor Moon? Maybe we should ask Naoko Takeuchi? :)
Yeah this flashback was literally chibiusa telling her mother how powerful sailor moon is after she saved crystal tokyo. And that time she had silver hair. So it was a mistake that it wasn't silver/white hair, because in season 2 her hair was silver (during Black moon period).
Let me explain why sailor moon hair is white,it when sailor moon except the throne and became queen, her power will evolve and her hair will become white. And I’m sorry if this is not correct because this is what I think.
If you think about it the moon princess or queen always looks the same. Serenity's mother was exactly like usagi now her Daughter chibi usa looks like usagi the future princess.
Chibi usa doesn't look as much like usagi does serenity's mother it shows what she looks like as an adult in the movie about dead moon circus at the end not the one caused from the spell but where she comes to tell helios about the golden crystal I think that was why but I don't remember exactly since I only saw the movie once
I say Neo Queen Serenity looked WAY better with the platinum blonde hair. It distinguishes her from the original Queen Serenity. It seems rude to just try to replace her with her daughter. Let them be individuals and not carbon copies.

I'm sure most people prefer her blonde hair, but the moment she became queen her hair turned silver showing signs of her maturity. At least her future self and her mother in her previous life had silver hair too and sailor cosmos have silver hair it was nice that she managed to sneak that in even though her editors were against it. Both past princess serenity and neo queen serenity has white hair. When usagi awakens to princess serenity during the series her hair is in fact blonde that is correct but in the flashback when showing princess serenity it should have been white however they kept it blonde (they corrected it for the dream arc movies tho). When she becomes queen she goes back to her original origin of a celestial being hence her hair regain its original colour.

I assumed the altered hair color was a result of Neo Queen Serenity meeting Sailor Moon, either NQS wanting to return to her old hair colour after meeting her younger self, or Usagi deciding to keep her hair blonde in the future.
Totally an animation mishap out of a single animators laziness or joke. Although usagi can in fact change her hair colour depending on her transformation. When naoko revealed chibi chibi was in fact way into the future usagi and chibi chibi was also cosmos... that confirmed a whole lot of theories. Considering in chibi chibi form she has really dark pink hair (not like chibiusa). In queen/princess form she is silver and sailor cosmos also has silver. While in mudane form and sailor moon forms... this is blonde.

For me I think that Chibiusa can think queen serenity as her grandmother because usagi still think her as a mother. Princess serenity is reborn as a normal human at first so I don't even know if Usagi still relate by blood with her previous mother. If they weren't then usagi wouldn't have the silver crystal since it runs through their bloodline. Note: The sliver crystal is their individual soul so there's a total of three, Queen Serenity, Usagi and Chibiusa they all have the same infinite power however since it's their individual soul it goes by their heart. The power of any attack depends on the user. They have to remain strong, determine, courage etc in order to assess more of their crystals true power. Out of all three usagi is the strongest because of her personality, she'll never give up, her determination and resolve is much stronger than the rest. (you will learn more when the stars arc is animated). ONLY the user of the crystal will be able to asscess the true power of the crystal. If in enemies hands it will only act as an amplifier to a certain extent. Side Note: The 90s anime is different since it has a different storyline. The silver crystal is a handed down heirloom of the silver millennium family. There's only one. If in enemies hand they can use it the same as the usagi. Hope this clears some things up :)
....no. no. She was 14 when the manga series began and 15 when it ended. She got preggo at the end at 15 and then married mamoru.. silver is simply the hair colour of her true form. And blonde that of her human form

I redid Sailormoons design years ago. All the characters have normal hair. But when they transform its colored. Example Usagi has very soft tan hair with natural gold highlights.when trans formed its soft blond with silver but shimmer pink and blue highlights . Also Minako is still blond but she goes Platinum when transformed.
I'll never understand why Sailor Moon has to refer to her past or future self as another person. Like I get it but then I don't? And then Small Lady refers to the younger version of her mom with disrespect. I know she knows that's her mom yet not the mom she has known all her Small Lady life.

Less errors to fix means that they wouldn't have to pay a 3rd party to touch up the bluray. Imo, i feel like the reason the blurays sold well in s1 and 2 were because of the changes. The art style was gorgeous and seeing the art fixed would make it even better.

Chibi Usa made a bunch mistakes that she thought she doing the right thing but she realized it was wrong that lead to consequence such as taking her mother's Silver Crystal which lead the Black Moon to attack Crystal Tokyo, then keeping things a secret to Usagi and the others which cause the Black Moon to take Mars, Mercury and Jupiter which Chibi Usa realized she shouldn't keep thing a secret because she was afraid, then she meet Wiseman and he but her under a spell turning her into Black Lady to have her destroy her own future but she able to overcome this by having the courage and wisdom to change things to make things right by helping Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask defeat Death Phantom and fix everything and that what Serenity gives Chibi Usa a sign to Accept the things you cannot change, have the courage to change the thing you can and have the wisdom to know the difference and that is why I like Chibiusa a lot better in the manga, crystal, eternal and cosmos than the 90's anime because the Serenity Prayer.

There are a lot of lightning bolts and effects in that scene, but I can try. I also need a clean HD version of the scene, but I believe I saw multiple here on TH-cam ^-^ I'll give it a shot!

How do you know for sure when exactly Neo Queen Serenity tells Small Lady about Super Sailor Moon? If Small Lady is over 900 years old, so maybe the Queen talked to her about it in XXIst cenury, and then she probably still had blonde hair. I'm just speculating because time reference is very complicated in the relation between Usagi, ChibUsa and Neo Queen Serenity. But if Neo Queen Serenity is future Usagi, who has visited the future before becoming the queen, she should know the fact that Small Lady will meet Sailor Moon who will come back from the past to help save the XXXth century Earth. On the other hand we don't know if the disturbance in time flow caused by ChibiUsa's visit in the past and bringing Sailor Moon to the future influences the past events as well or it is just working in the future. Cosmic Heart Compact is the brooch from the future, so in fact Neo Queen Serenity changed the flow of time and caused that the future will be different. As we know Sailor Moon becomes Neo Queen Serenity at the end of the manga's Dream Arc, so this is after she receives the brooch from the future Neo Queen Serenity. It's quite confusing.

Because in that future timeline with pluto and chibiusa, when usagi was sailor moon, she didn't have a chibiusa to come down and help her/tag along with her. So my own theory is that for that future neo queen serenity, her battles only stopped at metalia and then later did nothing else until she became queen. This explains why in season 2 when the inners from the future had no upgrade and looked exactly the same as the inners we know. There wouldn't be a need for upgrades if the battle was over with just metalia.Just my own lil theory xD
Interesting theory but if it was true, Neo Queen Serenity wouldn't have the Moon Chalice in her palace. Chibi Usa mentions it before Usagi and Mamoru make one for her. On the other hand the presence of the Moon Chalice in the Crystal Palace might be the result of giving Cosmic Heart Compact to the past Usagi, and changing the flow of actions. However it is still not clear when exactly the Queen told Small Lady about Super Sailor Moon. If we assume that the presence of the Moon Chalice in Queens room is the result of the change of the timeline caused by the Moon Heart Compact passed to Usagi from the future, then the queen could only tell Chibi Usa about Super Sailor Moon when she came back to the future after the Black Moon Arc, (then it is right for her to have white hair) but why didn't the queen simply tell Chibi Moon how to defeat Pharaoh 90 if it had already been defeated (the presence of the Chalice proves it). It's still quite unclear. :) The appearance of the Chalice in the future should also change the Queen's memories, shouldn't it? Or maybe she just didn't want to tell her daughter too much, because she knew how things were going to be.
Moreover in the finale of the Dream part of the manga, when Eternal Sailor Moon appers there is a remark made by Diana that Eternal Sailor Moon is the one, whose power is the closest to Neo Queen Serenity's. It would imply that Neo Queen Serenity is the final form os Sailor Moon after she becomes Eternal, and the only change in the timeline takes place in Stars when Sailor Chaos and Sailor Cosmos appear. There is a situation in the manga when Neo Queen Serenity and King Endymion welcome Small Lady in the Crystal Palace after she has finally come back to the future and then timespace changes and Eternal Sailor Pluto tells the queen that something is changing in the past, which may cause the change of history. And then the queen sends Chibi Moon and the Sailor Quartet back to the past to help Sailor Moon fight against Galaxia. So if there are eternal sailor senshi in the future it means, that the actions in the present influence the future constantly, changing it according to what is currently happening. And this is in a way inconsistent, because if Neo Queen Serenity is an after- Eternal Sailor Moon-form of Usagi then why doesn't she remember everything which happened up to the time when Usagi became Eternal Sailor Moon? Maybe we should ask Naoko Takeuchi? :)

I'm sure most people prefer her blonde hair, but the moment she became queen her hair turned silver showing signs of her maturity. I know that Naoko also wanted her princess/sailor form to also have silver, that would have been so cool. At least her future self and her mother in her previous life had silver hair too and sailor cosmos have silver hair it was nice that she managed to sneak that in even though her editors were against it.
At first, I thought it was weird that she had silver hair because if she was her future self shouldn't she also have blonde hair? Not that I'm against her having silver hair, she looks so much more elegant and goddess-like with silver/white hair and her royal blue eyes.
Both past princess serenity and neo queen serenity has white hair. When usagi awakens to princess serenity during the series her hair is in fact blonde that is correct but in the flashback when showing princess serenity it should have been white however they kept it blonde (they corrected it for the dream arc movies tho). When she becomes queen she goes back to her original origin of a celestial being hence her hair regain its original colour.

I assumed the altered hair color was a result of Neo Queen Serenity meeting Sailor Moon, either NQS wanting to return to her old hair colour after meeting her younger self, or Usagi deciding to keep her hair blonde in the future.
Totally an animation mishap out of a single animators laziness or joke.
Although usagi can in fact change her hair colour depending on her transformation. When naoko revealed chibi chibi was in fact way into the future usagi and chibi chibi was also cosmos... that confirmed a whole lot of theories. Considering in chibi chibi form she has really dark pink hair (not like chibiusa). In queen/princess form she is silver and sailor cosmos also has silver. While in mudane form and sailor moon forms... this is blonde.

I never think about this? Your question also make me wonder if the previous queen serenity will be chibiusa grandmother because usagi already reborn as a human on earth and have a family of four. For me I think that Chibiusa can think queen serenity as her grandmother because usagi still think her as a mother. If it isn't for queen serenity , usagi wouldn't become princess serenity and neo queen serenity. Princess serenity is reborn as a normal human at first so I don't even know if Usagi still relate by blood with her previous mother. What I know , she only become princess because of her power and previous self that is princess of silver millennium. I don't think they ever state that she is blood related to queen serenity. She is the reincarnation of her previous self but she still love her previous mother.

If they weren't then usagi wouldn't have the silver crystal since it runs through their bloodline.
Note: The sliver crystal is their individual soul so there's a total of three, Queen Serenity, Usagi and Chibiusa they all have the same infinite power however since it's their individual soul it goes by their heart. The power of any attack depends on the user. They have to remain strong, determine, courage etc in order to assess more of their crystals true power. Out of all three usagi is the strongest because of her personality, she'll never give up, her determination and resolve is much stronger than the rest. (you will learn more when the stars arc is animated). ONLY the user of the crystal will be able to asscess the true power of the crystal. If in enemies hands it will only act as an amplifier to a certain extent.
Side Note: The 90s anime is different since it has a different storyline. The silver crystal is a handed down heirloom of the silver millennium family. There's only one. If in enemies hand they can use it the same as the usagi.

I redid Sailormoons design years ago. All the characters have normal hair. But when they transform its colored. Example Usagi has very soft tan hair with natural gold highlights.when trans formed its soft blond with silver but shimmer pink and blue highlights . Also Minako is still blond but she goes Platinum when transformed.
