"Time and time again I've tried to get my act together." I relate to that on a whole other level. PUP is the soundtrack to every 18-28 year old bum who never seems to do anything as well as his friends, who isn't as good with girls as his friends, who isn't as well off in life as he thought he'd be by now, who's parents see as a loser, who's only joys in life are slowly fading away as they become less and less potent with each day that goes by, each beer downed, each pill swallowed and each joint smoked. For everyone of us losers PUP is there. Maybe you don't see the light at the end of the tunel and think you'll forever be a pathetic use of potential and maybe you will. But at least you can be listening to some bomb ass music while you waste your life away. Thanks PUP!
One of the greatest, if not, the greatest songs Pup has ever released. Genuinely the lyrics meld so well with the instrumentation and the quiet at the end of the song shouts as loud as the rest of it. It brings me to tears. It brought me to tears when I heard it live. Thank you so much for making this song.
holy shit, you guys never get tired of holding some guy's on the internet opinion as something sacred? i just don't understand, do his ratings give you purpose in life lmao
Franz Grím well he's influent, and good reviews means new fans to discover their stuff, so it's a good thing. Hell, I first heard of Pup from theneedledrop, as is the case from many of my favorite bands

Up on Scorpion Hill watching life Passing me by in the pale moonlight And I sat there forever, three sheets to the wind It's not helping my case, the state that I'm in But it's not how they told you My intentions were good I was just bursting apart like the end of the arc Holding on to whatever I could A square of light moves its way through the empty room Across the stained yellow carpet Like a ghost of myself in the afternoon Haunting my basement apartment I looked in to the mirror Hanging behind my door The glass was cracked and the man staring back He don't look like me anymore And if the world is gonna burn Everyone should get a turn to light it up Down and out, I've been on the rocks I've been having some pretty dark thoughts Yeah, I like them a lot Time and time again, well I've tried and failed To get my act together And I'll admit lately things really went off the rails I know that you deserve better But in the morning, as I was boarding The commuter train to work The boss was calling, he said: "There's been cutbacks and I'm sorry you're the first" And If I can't support the two of us How can I support a third? Down and Out, I've been on the rocks I've been having some pretty dark thoughts And I'm on the brink Fallin' deep into debt Fallin' deep into drink I can drown those regrets I don't have to think Now I'm working the night shift Asleep at the wheel I was bursting apart like a flame from a spark Thinkin 'Jesus, this can't be for real' My sweat soaked mattress Corner of the room Cigarettes and Matches In the fading afternoon And a picture my kid, ya he's smiling It's the first day of school She said: I found the gun, it was buried beneath Piles of clothes in the room where your son sleeps And I can't pretend, to know how this will end
And the thing is that these are the kind of things that give comfort. I’m not alone with my feelings and problems and just thing that I can relate to the themes of the song give me hope and courage to speak out and get help. Shit I don’t know. Well I do know but you know still yeah. Thank you and good luck to everyone. Speed and luck for most!
