That's a nice txt Elaine, even more so as it's literally lit the touch paper to a memory esp if the parent is no longer with us, so it can make it so much more wonderful. They're precious.

Great entertainment. I did have a smile when I heard the special effects towards the end... out of Hollywood ( no spoilers from me lol) thanks for finding this.

Great play oh isn't Google brilliant, this play first aired Saturday 18th January 1964!! The Google site sent me to the BBC Home Service which then gave me a heavenly list of hundreds of these shows but who needs the BBC when this great site has a plethora of fantastic dramas!!

'but who needs the BBC' you say.
You must be an idiot. Who's going to make the next generation of quality radio plays?

What about a brief synopsis rather than Wikipedia on the author. People can look that up for themselves if they are interested

Just great! I remember watching Bill Knox on STV in the 70s. Seems like yesterday. Can see his grey hair and glasses yet. This was a very enjoyable story. Probably im biased in favour of Bill Knox, but being from Ayrshire and a regular visitor to Glasgow, I enjoyed listening to 'my own tongue '

Other Bill Knox radio dramas include: " The Tallyman " " A Taste Of Proof " and " Draw Batons " , They are all as smoothly written as this one. And all three are available via Chesterton Radio.

A great romp. The musical score contained some classic chase sequences which added to the tension with a little help from sound effects. The story was far-fetched in some respects. Who actually eats off Gold Plate?? And melting down Gold that is about 25-50 microns thick is going to require very large amounts of Plate.
    Nevertheless thanks for uploading 👍👍👍

Another great story from so long ago.......
Well, to mister Chesterton and Company :
As always after I play,. I must stop and take the time,
to show my appreciation once again........
Well with that said, I guess I will leave you to it. I positively know that we will meet again, in the future, in another aisle,
in another grand old theater like this one. Just maybe next time I will take my girl and I and go sit in the balcony to watch the play.
In this theater you can see,
the stage so much better from the balcony.
Go check it out before you leave
    cheers chesterton....... ...... ..

Despite not having a clue what was going on much of the time, I enjoyed listening to this.More as background noise whilst painting. That Italian accent was incredibly awful. It swayed into Indian/Caribbean and other unrecognisable regions more than Italian lol

Bill Knox used to present "Crimedesk" on STV,he always referred to the criminals as "Neds"(non-educated delinquents)

Ok, the dad takes the blame for the murder to save his son. Then his other kids set out to kill their brother in revenge. That seems pointless since it won't bring their dad back, and many parents would give their own life to save their child's. The guy went to his death happy in the knowledge his son would live on. Why would his other children want to undo that?

You would be surprised it is common practice for life sentence prisoners to spend their final years of sentence in an open prison so as to enable them to rehabilitate more effectively on release.
