This helped me so much! A few months ago, I was singing with no vibrato at all! When I decided to take online lessons, they didn't work. But YOU, oh my God, in just a few days of doing this I already could hear a little vibrato in my voice, and that was months ago! Now, I can sing my favorite songs without being embarrassed! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
omg your my idol :D ive been looking at videos of this for about the last hour and nothing has worked but i used your technique and i got it right of the bat like not even 20 seconds after :) thank you
Hi, I loved the way you taught about how to sing with vibrato. You started from something familiar, such as an alarm from a police car to something less familiar. That is the greatest teaching of all. I tried to follow your method and it seemed to work. Now I could teach other people about vibrato by showing your video.
Hello there, Yes, that's how I had vibrato explained to me, by one of the teachers I worked with for a musical theater production I was in. It made sense and sounded very simple, so I practiced and tried to get good at it, and now it's just second nature... easy to stop and start whenever I want to use it. Take care! Elisha
Thank you. The siren trick really worked for me! I have been trying for months to get vibrato and I hadn't been successful. I even worked hard using Brett Mannings "Master Vibrato" program and for whatever reason I just couldn't produce a consistent vibrato. I think this technique works because you are already oscillating pitch at a good speed (I used a metronome to time 5 -6 oscillations per second). Then once you remove the scaffolding (the ee sound and then the vowel) you are left with vibr
It worked for me and lots of my students, although I'm sure there will be some people who don't like it, as there always are. Try it for yourself. It's worked for lots of other singers, but you'll have to try it to see if it works well for you.
I've just heard several old metal songs sung by Geoff Tate, Bruce Dickinson etc.. All i did was analyzing what they do in oder to achieve their voice. Today i can freely sing using vibrato in all sorts of notes.. Vibrato makes your voice sound so amazing. It's just like you sing straight from your heart.
thanks alot ! I just tried it and it helps alot. IT MADE A BIG IMPROVEMENT. the vibrato was my only problemm THANK YOUUU A LOOTT. and can you put on a video for the sopranos who would like to sing with a low voice.. cause I always try but its really hard. i almost struggle to sing with a low tone. THANKS :)
omg!!! your awesome!! you just tought me how to do a vibrato!! all other videos i watched werent that helpful but i loved how you broke it up like that. im definately subscribing!! your awesome =)
That's actually the premise of my entire program, trying different techniques and using what works best for your voice, because of course, not everything will! Your voice is unique to you and what works for that person may not work for you! The bottom line is KEEP TRYING and never give it up as long as it makes you happy. Good luck everyone and have a great weekend!
thank you. thanks to your video on this, i nabbed a lead in my school musical, and I'm auditioning for my high school's elite vocal group tomorrow. Wish me luck!
This should forever remain in the top comments. I get so tired of vocal teachers who claim that their method is the "right" method, when all they do is pass on what they've been taught without checking their facts. I mean, they're just helping people, of course, but it's kind of sad.
This is tricky. I can sing notes perfectly, but man, you must be pretty talented or have perfect technique to sing vibrato. Can't seem to nail it. Guess I'll have to practice a lot more.. :S
Hi everyone! Great job to everyone who has been working on it, it's fun to add it in your songs! Some really good points made, like over-use! I'm always reminded of a Simpson's episode where they're at a baseball game or something and a singer starts the anthem in daytime, and finishes it at night because of all the vibrtato, runs and other things! Too funny. Know which one I mean? Anyway, keep practicing your scales and exercises and you'll improve!
Everybody is different so it may be something you have to do for a long while, but it will keep getting easier with time. Keep practicing and trying and it will get stronger yet.
Hi everyone! It's so nice to see people are still enjoying the vibrato video. :) This year marks prosinginglessons.com 10th anniversary, so I'm re-designing the website, getting some new videos ready, giving away free copies of the Sing Like A Pro program and tons more! Keep watching for new stuff coming soon.
great!...I got it....gonna practice more..elisha..your a star..that was the easiest way to achieve it..and I forgot to mention..elisha your beautiful. Love sav
When you change the shape of your mouth, whether it's with your jaw, lips or tongue, you change the sound that comes out of it. Be aware of that. Chances are that when you're doing vibrato on the E, it might actually sound more like EAEAEAEAEAEAEA rather than just varying in pitch.
@pgreens It's not a pumping of the vocal cords, once you get the feel of it you'll find that it's easy and effortless. These steps are intended to get people in the feel of vibrato because so many people are told that it will just "happen" over time. I don't know anyone who has never tried to do it, who just magically woke up one day with it. I hope everyone reads that and understands that it's not logical to think it will just "appear".
wow.. You're so cute.. Thanks for the vid, but I already sing, but was searching for a vibrato plugin and stumbled upon you. Was in a bad mood, but you cheered me up with your lovely smile. So thanks for that cheering.. needed that :)
Hello, sometimes when a singer is sitting down their breathing posture can be compromised... your diaphragm expands to allow your lungs to fill up with air to a fuller capacity than they could if you are sitting down. That could be the cause of your problem. It basically means that your notes may not be "supported" enough. However, some singers I know personally sit down all the time when singing without trouble. Every singer is different. Elisha
hey thanks! My classical singing teacher tells me it should come naturally and that it make take years, but I can´t wait years! I feel frustrated! LOL thanks for the tips! I will surely try!!
Excellent vid..thanks for posting this informative piece on vibrato. You really made it easier to grasp what the voice needs to do in order to "vibrate". Wow i have alot of work ahead of me. Hopefully my Husband doesn't judge me too much as i siren away like a police car. Haha!
Hi there, Well, many people can just sing with vibrato without having to learn it... although many can't, and that's why this video was created. If you can use vibrato already that's great! I've never heard you sing before so I can't tell you for sure if I think you are a good singer or not at his point. You certainly might be, I just don't want to say for sure because that would be unfair of me. I hope that helps, take care. Elisha
Hey I always had a nice voice, I participated in chorus and people say i have an angelicall voice :) but i coulfn't make that vibrato thing and the truth is some people do come with that when they are born (alt least it looks like it) .. but with years i imitated them and right now i can do it a little... i hope i can improve it, thanks 4 the video
Thanks everyoone for the wonderful comments, keep up all the great work! Once again, don't over-think it, vibrato is an EASY thing to do. I've been singing in opera, commercial, musical theater, in bands and teaching for over 20 years and I'm telling you this is really all there is to it. Just keep practicing if you're having trouble and you'll get it!
@prosinginglessons I just love U! yeah lots of these other guys say it should come naturally, I'm like.... yeah right! This is very practical and straight to the point. Did i mention i love u so?.... luv LUV LUV LUV ya! thanks a mill!
Elisha - i am a complete beginner to singing and recently taken a real interest due to discovering an an unexpected ability to sing when i was forced to join friends at a karaoke. i was as surprised as my friends as i never really tried. My problem is i cannot control it, sometimes i can, sometimes i cant. Is it just practice?. Anyway just wanted to say i watched a lot of videos and yours has one of the best explanations to follow.. Hello, Nope, vibrato isn't caused from opening and closing your throat quickly, it's simply bouncing your voice between two notes quickly, about 5 times a second. Try the siren example... it really works. Imitate the sound of a siren, and "bounce" your voice fast enough so you're bouncing five times a second.
Well, every person has a different set of vocal cords that are capable of accomplishing different things. Everybody has a "personal best" that they can achieve, and that "best" might be different for some people compared to others. With that said, I think most everyone can learn to be a good singer with practice and dedication.
Hi everyone! Just want to say thanks for all your comments and post something for any nay-sayers out there... I myself am a classically trained singer- that's where my personal training comes from and I KNOW for fact that vibrato is not something that "comes naturally"... some people can do it without trying hard, but it is something that you consciously do. The way I teach it is 100% completely safe for the voice... I wouldn't do it or teach it if it wasn't. :) Elisha Rae Sing Like A Pro
The breath support whenever you're singing should always be strong, you should never be singing "from your throat" or forcing your voice. Those are the things that can cause eventual damage. You are the best singing teacher i've met yet! You made it simple and easy. You've made my day. You Rock!
askold9 But it's not real vibrato. It's a very damaging thing that you shouldn't be doing because it'll end up hurting your voice beyond repair.
thanks alot !

Oh my gosh, I never actually thought of learning vibrato this way. I thought it was clearly impossible. Thank you! :)
Damn, this is SO EASY. You explained it in a perfect way, I understood exactly how to do it. Seriously, thanks a lot.
Thanks so much! Finally, a proper set of practical instructions. Luv you.
thank you, this is the only helpful video on learning vibrato
I needed this, my chorus concert is tomorrow night, and I have a lot of solos, so I need to vibrato my voice

You are really amazing. I never knee how to do this and now I'm getting kind of good at it!! Thank you so much! =D
Thanks, that worked like a charm! Simple but effective.
About time someone simplified the use of vibrato! 5 stars! :)

It comes from how your Breathe as well, remember u dont use your larynx when you sing/project so why do you expect to do vibrato with it.. its to do with the air flow and diaphragm
Is this the technique that you used to develop your vibrato? Because it's lovely...

Singing success gives very good free tips, but this video taught me vibrato!
wow that was a good video. it took me like 5 minutes to do it perfectly.
Harry Styles has AMAZING vibrato 💕👌🏻
For all of you who are trying it and are having any difficulty, keep working on it, practice makes perfect! If it works in your low notes but not your high notes and vice versa; keep working on it, it will come! It just takes practice and a little bit of effort. :) Good luck!

oh wow..... thx for doing this vid. i sang with vibrato all the time and didn't even know it
Thanks so much , this really helps!
Oh my goodness, thank you so much for posting this video. all these other people were NO help at all. =)
I wish the other video came out..
i want to know more skills :D
