As a Union fan I don’t know what to think of. We played at the same pace and tempo. We were actually looking like we might pull this one out. But like every sport, refs f up. I’m not angry I’m just more confused why they didn’t even look at it? I mostly blame this on Kai Wagner. Why did he say that!

Dang! 32 was CLEARLY offsides. How was that missed?
Not clear at all. You have to line up the arm pits (basically) of both players and figure out the really bad angle. When you fix the angle, the attacker will look more onside.

Don’t really agree with saying that. They definitely played better than the Union for most of the game, but if they only “deserve” the win if they earn it with a real goal. If that goal was called offsides and the Union scored and won, they would have deserved the win just as much as Cinci in the same scenario for them.

I love how ESPN idiotically puts it, "A video review upheld the goal, despite replays suggesting that Ian Murphy may have been offside when he played a header across goal to set up Mosquera's finish." That's the way it works. "May" is not enough. If there's not enough evidence then the call on the field stands. There's no "despite," it's how that works.

Cincinnati defender is past the shoulder (and elbow) of the Union player if you look at the Cincinnati players' right shoulder and knee. If the lines on the field are straight, this is offside.

They need the to get rid of the one game playoff format. Both games have been bad so far, as it makes the game dull, as both teams don’t want to take too many risk and making the games low scoring. Make it two legged game or best of three all the way until the final, because you had more attacking play as they knew they had another chance to win the round. Risk adverse football of single match does not sell the MLS.

That would remove the home field advantage for higher seeds. The whole reason to get a higher seed is to get home field advantage. Personally, the playoff system needs to be removed. Just have the top team in each conference play each other in a three game series where the third game is at a neutral site.

MLS cash grab.. Why play the same team a bunch of times to decide the winner? All the other leagues in the world are 1 game and winner advances to Quarters, Semis, Final. It's not the best out of three games or 5 or 7 games. .. one (1) is the only chance you get.
When they paused the camera when Barreals boot touched the ball, his foot was actually in the air along with the ball just slightly. It’s actually when the boot genuinely touched the ball when the line is determined and he wasn’t just offsides at that moment. There also better angles that we can’t see that the VAR can see. They are humans just like us and can see the way play too, if it truly was offsides it would’ve been called.

Not to mention the scissor tackle earlier that took out Martinez could have been called a red. But for real it's obvious to anyone with eyes that was offsides
@@wardell90 How are you making that determination? VAR has angles we don’t. They didn’t need to send it to the ref, which means he was either onside, or it was too close to overturn. Even Jim Curtain said he couldn’t definitively tell.

Why is the conference semifinal only one match when the conference quarterfinal was best of 3?
Because Don Garber loves playoff gimmicks. (And one-and-done matches have traditionally pulled better tv numbers)
Even if Carranza's arm didn't keep Murphy onside, the team who played the much better game still advanced. Well deserved win.
Arms don't count when determining offside. Only parts of the body you can score with count (basically everything except the arms/hands).

You know what really pisses me off about this video is the comment section. Everyone here, along with other sports fans, CONSTANTLY complain about how the refs should not decide the final outcome on a bad call. And yet here the refs do exactly that when it comes to the goal, and you STILL COMPLAIN ABOUT IT. Sorry but as cliche as this sounds, you can't have your cake and eat it too.
