  • In this video, I go over some of the vacuum hoses you may want to have a look at if you have 80series FZJ-80 LandCruiser with the 1FZ-FE motor

    Hi, I noticed that when you were discussing the vacuum hoses, you mentioned a 'water hose' (at 4.25mins). That hose is actually the vacuum hose that connects to the power brakes servo. Also, I did an almost complete rebuild on the engine of my 1995 80 series cruiser this year, and ended up replacing all the vacuum hoses. It's cheap enough to buy vacuum hoses, of different diameters from an auto parts store. I made a point of marking all the vacuum hoses before I removed them.., that way, the new ones can go back where they're supposed to, and save a whole lot of nightmares with the vacuum system.

    Worm gear clamps loosen with time and chew up hoses. The constant tension clamps (C U Next Tuesday) are actually better because they apply, you guessed it, constant tension. They can still be had new.

    Aloha, just bought a 96 cruiser, at 4:04 of this video, what is the hose you/he is grabbing, connecting to?, looked around on a forum, and read it was a gas filter?

    Oem hose clamps are best. They clamp better than work clamp and last longer. Toyota clamps do.

    what's that hose at 4:10 mark? I have no hose there at the moment. What would happen if it's not there?

      Ummmmmm. Yeah ok I'll buy it.
      Assuming its converter gas, The only thing that comes to mind is some sort of beather system

      Breather system?? I'll send you a pic later but looking on your video the second hose I refer to leads from your valve cover to the intake manifold it's been rather boggyly made up .. I'm nit seeing the sense of it its literally pushing oil into intake

    Hey mate I picked up a 80 series 1994 with 240k on the clock. Now I’ve been teaching myself how to fix it up. So far I’ve done all fluids oil/power steering/diffs/gearbox/transfer case. Just done all belts and Ac pulley and radiator hoses. Front swivel hubs and from diff pinion seal all new pads and rotators hand break shoes now onto replacing vacuum lines. I’m curious as to how these engine sounds I think my 80 runs like a dream how ever could just be me as I’ve never had an 80 1FZ FE what are the engine suppose to sound like mine has a strange high pitches hollow air sound really hard to describe lol. Is it possible for you to do a video of a cold start then hit start and then listen to how the 1FZ FE engine should sound

      G'day fella. Ok, I have 2 videos for you to watch,
      This is the 1st one made today - th-cam.com/video/DkXCVuZ0V0M/w-d-xo.html and then once you have watched that one, watch this one - th-cam.com/video/BBQ7V45VpKg/w-d-xo.html. Both of them will give an idea of how it should sound. So watch the old start video 1st, then the driving vid using my auto which is the A442F

    I have a question for you on my 9680 series. I have recently tore down the entire top and had the head machined replace the head gasket and everything I could get to was replaced. The truck now runs beautifully smooth no issues yet I have found that I seemed to have a little bit of difficulty with cold start. It acts almost as if it's not getting an a fuel but I don't believe I have an issue with the filter or fuel pump because once I get it running it runs like a top. Just curious if I'm missing something simple having to do with either the cold start idle or possibly a cold start vacuum line something along those lines. Any information you have if would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

      @OldMatesBackyardTech  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Before I answer that question is your 80 the 1FZ-Fe petrol engine or of the 4 diesel versions?

    • @toddbertram6556
      @toddbertram6556 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OldMatesBackyardTech It is the petrol motor and yes it is the 1F zFE and doing my repair I came across a sensor plug that I broke and I believe it may be the cold start up sensor on the driver side of the engine block but I would love to hear your thoughts in case I am mistaken about the sensor. I don't know if all the sensor plugs are the same but on my 96 the sensor plug is green and it is a brass thread in sensor that goes into the block itself. Again thank you for your time

    A vacuum hose was accidentally disconnected while the engine was running and the engine stopped. I tried to start it again and it won't start at all now. How do I fix this??

    • @OldMatesBackyardTech

      Disconnect the hose again, then disconnect the battery. Wait a 5 min, then reconnect the hose after that, reconnect the battery and then try to start the car

    The rock hard hose at 6 min. Do you know the part number for it? Is it just a Vacuum line I can get standard hose for? Diagrams I can find call it an EVAP hose.
