The sax and that keyboard riff are the most memorable things about this song, although I also really love the bassline, the rhythmatic acoustic strumming, and the cool melody.
So glad to find this! I had the album it was on, but my record collection got stolen when my ex husband decided to loan it out to a girl he was chasing. True story. Sure wish I had those records back! Much love to you. :-)

So many great songs from the late 70s unavailable for karaoke at present.. this one, "Shake It" by Ian Matthews, "5.7.0.5." by City Boy.. the list goes on. *sigh*
this got so little play at the time and it was one of those songs made you pull over in your car and listen. You kept the car running in the driveway to let the song finish. (yes we did that back then). The other thing was you waited, i waited hoping the DJ said who played it. And more than that, Ian Gomm was not a household name. You weren't even sure the DJ got it right. You could miss the name waiting for something you could identify as a name.
I'm kinda drunk, BUT, Remember the TV show "The Golden girls?" Well, Rose the "Scandinavian nitwit" on the show. Well, her hubby "Charlie" that passed away... Ian Gomm is how I picture "Charley" to look like. When I see Ian Gomm I think "That's what Charlie must have looked like". I KNOW it';s stupid. I LOVE this song anyway, I've loved it after hearing it playing in a store a few years ago.
Wow, used to love this track back in the day. Hearing it again after all this time, it strikes me that a certain Johnny Marr must also have this record in his collection. For proof - go listen to Electronic's 'Get The Message'.
