Hi im general practitioner in SA for past 10yrs. Iv worked in family med and emergency med for 6 years, iv tried oncology, dermatology and am currently in psych the passion i had once was always wanting to help ppl bt i hv lost dis drive wit ltd resources and shortage of staff. I feel that i neglected my family and friends so much i feel so guilty everyday. Im 35 and nw and feel like i wasted a great deal of my life on my career working late and extra shifts, as i wtch my nephew and nieces grow up, my parents get older i feel someting is missing in my life. I love helping ppl but i want to be there for the ppl who love me too. Any advice as? U work long hrs hw do u balance? Thanx for ur inspirational words and honesty for long time i felt alone and nw i see many of us feel similar we jus dont say it.
Lol man finished near first in medical school and made it into the most competitive specialty in the country. *kid who only barely passed grade 12 says he’s not a real doctor
@@bluethunder9102 but they aren’t doctors. They aren’t given an education even close to the level of a doctors. They are not trained after school near the amount a doctor is trained. On average a doctor trains like 200x more hours in a clinical setting than a nurse. People go into nursing usually because the training path is so short or bc they couldn’t get into medicine and sometimes bc they on want to be doctors. u can’t ask for a shorter education and training time but want the same responsibilities, title, respect and pay.
@@APlusInSpecEZ They are doctors they aren’t physicians and yes doctors do have a lot longer training. But, the statement that people become nurses because they couldn’t get into medical school is far from the truth.
@@bluethunder9102 actually they aren’t doctors. Of course there’s the small portion that do a PhD in nursing which qualifies them as a doctor in philosophy but not a doctor of medicine. So in the medical setting they do not qualify as doctors. And I said many people, not most. And it’s true. At least where I live people will actually freely tell you their doing nursing because medicine is too long a training path or they won’t be able to get in.
Hey, Kevin. I really admire your courage for the path you took and how you carefully figured out the process of transition. I was an ex veterinary student (until my third year) too. However, I'm sensing some kind of hostility towards PhD holders (not one myself) from the medical community. PhD holders are constantly the butt of the joke from medical students, who don't really understand how the research (esp in the basic sciences) machinery works. I wonder if it's because of certain professionals calling themselves Dr (after obtaining PhD) in the healthcare setting (thus, misleading patients) / in your business arena, there are those from PhD convincing (preying on) students specific methods to compete for med school places (thereby misleading them too)? Or generally speaking, most MDs just hate the gut out of PhDs (regardless of fields, even if they are life science PhDs)? I wonder what your take on this is (should PhDs stop calling themselves Dr even in non-healthcare-institution-professional settings)? P.S. I just find PhD graduates have absolutely low morale: high underemployment rate, low community support, and so much sneering from other professions despite trying to expand the world's scope of understanding. Much love and peace.
No hostility toward PhD holders or the fact that they are doctors. The issue is that in the medical school admissions consulting space there are some players who are PhD but lean into the doctor title without clarifying they are PhD’s that never went to medical school.
The term "doctor" was originally reserved for people with PhDs. Let them keep that convention, MDs should refer to themselves as physicians, it would also prevent NPs, PTs with doctorate degrees from getting clout from the title
“Doctor” actually means “teacher” in Latin. The PhD and jurist doctorate (JD) are the oldest awarded degrees. This title originated in the church and was reserved for people who demonstrated mastery of many subjects. THEN the are given the title of teacher. You will notice that our doctoral robes (I have a PhD in physics so I’m including myself) look EXACTLY like the robes worn by these individual in the church. Bell shaped sleeves, three stripes… it hasn’t changed.
Feel like it’s also his voice, cadence and clear method of delivery. Truly the epitome of talking and not reading. High level vocab with the ability for it to translate well. Not just a buncha fancy word salad. While he is a truly good looking person, I can imagine it would be hard for anyone to watch him if he spoke awfully or had a crappy personality. I think if he looked worse and spoke the same, he’d have the same amount of views. He talks to you like that smart older brother that guides you through life. Even cusses and bleeps it out. This is the kinda vid you can show to your friends or family easily. It’s hard to hate on someone so truly helpful and insightful. Real and being relatable to people who are striving in a really rough field.
Many other members of the healthcare team have doctorates dentists, podiatrists, PT/OT, CRNA, and DNP here, I use the term doctor as I feel we have earned it! I do clarify that I am a nurse practitioner.
Strength training is also cardio. And artificial sweeteners are poison. And if you got addicted to sugar it's because your intestinal flora was off balance.
I love it when you do Q&As. You are a very interesting person.
Glad you like them!
You and Ali Abdaal( of course with your side channels) are the best things I have come across before 18.
I’m excited for your new membership program it sounds pretty cool. Thanks for the Q & A 💛

What are your thoughts on going into dental school vs going into other bio fields non medicine related for masters?
Please make a podcast version of your videos. Like you I value being productive and need something I can listen to while do stuff..
Kevin, do you ever think about going back and finishing your residency? I remember you said you were very close to finishing it.
I was not close to finishing. Plastic surgery is 6 years. I don’t plan to return

You should try Cognac.. you may find it sweeter & less Smokey though
Is this dr. Jubbal from med insiders?
Yes!
Lol same with the public speaking....a pastlife fear( must've been hung in one of my past lives for it 🤣)
Don't stop calling yourself Dr. Jubbal. Keep the M.D. Nobody has the right to negate your 4 years of med school.

go to states where they appreciate healthcare workers and get corrupt government/insurance companies. Go where family medicine is appreciated.
NPs should NOT be pretending/ working like they’re Drs PERIOD!
Funny name and comment combo
What do you mean by this? They have the same job description? Also some have Doctorate degrees?
