So true! We must remember who we are. We stand on the shoulders of our ancestors, though people often tend to forget this. We are the extension of our land, and we must be aware that the land we stand on s fertilized by the dear bones of generations and generations and generations of beautiful women and men - we are the scion of that mighty tree, the spark of that fire they carried in their eyes. You know, these days in our country we celebrate the Day of All Dead, which is way older than our Christian traditions. Young generation, of course goes to Halloween parties - which is not bad. Yet it is not the way to remember but rather the way to forget who we are. It is sad that this once meaningful tradition is so distorted and turned into a mere amusement. On the Day of All Dead (in fact in our language it is one word which approximately means day of souls, the other name refers to the longing of those who passed away) we lit candles on the graves of our relatives, and also on abandoned graves. Our dead are always with us, they teach us how to live, because their love reaches us even when they are not around any more. We are what we are because of them. Because of their crafts, their songs, their wisdom they passed to us. I recognize that we all are ere different but in fact we all related. We all are different and this is amazing, this is the treasure of our planet. We must be thankful for people like Saginaw Grant for reminding us that we are Human Beings..

At age 12 I got to meet the then Chief of the Tuscaroura tribe at Ms. Whites' boarding house. Beautiful story and he gave me a blessing & a name and told me I would need this blessing later in my life. I felt honored. He was there for a parade but I have forgotten his name. Does anyone know his name yr of telstar. Native Americans speak words from their soul you can heard this difference. Just listen its so captivating.

Not distractions but boarding schools, economic suffering. This guy is only two years older than my dad but he's performing generic "Indianness." No way my dad would do this. #NotYourHollywoodIndian Let's stop "performing" our identity for Hollywood.
