    Remember recommending this to you in a comment section a while ago. Glad to see you're finally on it. There were six "normal" episodes and the seventh was a Christmas special- "Knowing Me Knowing Yule"

    The writing on this show is hugely underrated! He manages to alienate/cock-up with every guest in not only hilarious ways but uniquely as well! Unbelievable.

      Apparently a lot of it was improvised. I watched it with commentary on DVD and the actors were trying to remember who had come up with which jokes but they couldn't cause a lot was spontaneous.

    Thanks for reviewing, Josh. Love a bit of Partridge. Apparently, the legend is that Roger Moore's father watched this episode and was angry at his son for missing the show! Not realising that Partridge was fictional! It's one thing I would have loved to have seen, Partridge interviewing Roger Moore for real.

      There was a rumor I heard that they were planning to do it as a one off comic relief sketch in the 90's but it never happened

    • @mikem10481
      @mikem10481 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @A-small-amount-of-peas There's truth to this, but there was a period where Steve Coogan didn't want to do Partridge anymore, as he was establishing himself in Hollywood. He did Tropic Thunder, The Other Guys, and Philomenia. By the time he returned to do Partridge, Moore was retired from acting.

    When the audience arrived to watch a recording of Knowing Me, Knowing You, they were told by the production to treat it as if it were a real talk show. They didn't want the audience not playing along, as it is a spoof of a talk show. So they said to the audience, treat it as if you were watching a real talk show being taped.

      @johnking5174 ปีที่แล้ว

      Patrick worked with them on The Day Today which also aired in 1994 on BBC 2, I remember that very well. One of his better remembered presenters he played on that show was Peter O'Hanraha-hanrahan, an inept, useless news reporter. Also his surname is Marber, not Barber.

    It is a great parody of how talk show hosts in the 1970s and 80s acted. This was a great satirical take on the Bill Grundy interview with The Sex Pistols. It reminds me also of the interview between Russel Harty and David Bowie and Michael Parkinsons interview with Helen Mirren in the 70s, it is breathtaking how obnoxious and aggressive they were allowed to be...

Oddly we had already seen Steve Coogan doing another character (Paul Calf) on another show and both laughed our heads off. She did end up loving this one too.
