Please do make the video for phase 1, two and three year olds. I am currently tutoring a very gifted three year old. Thank you so much for all you have contributed. Brilliant! Veronica from Sarasota, Florida, US. Again, so much appreciation!
My 2.5 years old son likes to dance with the phonics song. He likes the "ants on my arm" and the "castanets" movements a lot ! And he gets excited everytime when Inky appeared. I think children just love that song naturally. As our second language, there are no sufficient English environment in our daily life. English songs and cartoons are good ways for 2-3 years old children to learn.
I love learning about this, it is the implementing with a strong-willed child that is tough. She likes making sounds but is not ready to add them. Would love the ideas video so i can try to share these with her.
This phase is really great for listening and speaking (singing) through sound walks, picture books, simple repetitive books, alliteration. Do you know of any research for 3 - 5 year-old EFL students on the teaching of phonics. I am teaching and learning with 4/5 year-olds this year in an international school in Thailand. All the students are EFL, although a few hear some English at home. My approach is to build up vocabulary through simple sentences by using what you describe for phase 1. I think that their level of spoken English needs to be higher before teaching reading and writing. What are your thoughts?
I’ve been teaching my 1.5 year old letter recognition and letter sounds for a while and he can recognise maybe a third of the alphabet? Do you think I should stop? I don’t want to turn him off learning to read. I don’t flash cards at him. But we do look at cards with letters and I make the sound, then he does the same. We also look for letters in our environment like on signs or at the library. I also draw letters in the sand sometimes. We have a piano that says Yamaha, and sometimes he sits down at the piano and says y-a-mm-a-h-a. He loves books and I think he enjoys reading himself. If you could explain why this isn’t a good idea to go overboard with letter recognition at this age I would love to hear. Thanks 🙏
Hi..i have loved watching all your videos..its very informative and well explained..looking forward to more ( yes please make videos on activities/worksheets to be done for each phase of phonics) Thank u🙂
I like the suggestions in this video but also, I taught my twins letter sounds when they were two - they had the capacity to learn . Now they are there and a half and can segment but I think there little brains are not ready to blend. Thank you for your videos.
Hi - that's great :) All children develop at different rates and some are ready sooner than others. That's why Early Years education is so wonderful as we really teach to individual needs :) The Phases (such as Phase 1 in this video) are a general guide that work for most children, but not all.
@@LittleLearnersVideos thank you for taking the time to reply. Thanks for your excellent videos and congratulations on your forthcoming baby. The love you feel is overwhelming x
