What it sounds like is, she wanted the show to end, they didn't because it still is making the company money, she still wants to be involved with ABC and Hulu, so they made a deal to keep her connected to the show. As she said she is not excited about the show anymore, but to stay connected to the company she agreed to stay on a bit. She said it all, without saying it all. Clever.
I've never seen the show, and I had no idea it was still on the air but I have always liked Patrick Dempsey as an actor
You should watch it at least first seasons

From what i heard its not that unusual if the cast never watch the show they were in
That's when you know there was drama from him leaving, he chose to distance himself after. But he came back for a few episodes so he still has love for his co-workers so that's good ❤️ Always try to hold on to the positive somehow ✌️
