I live in China and us Chinese film shooters are definitely hyped for this one, here the price of fuji and kodak is not too bad but more competition is always good for us consumers I believe.
Interesting. All initial prices are optimistic. It would be great to have another company in Asia that might make Fuji reconsider their decision to abandon film. And, I'd like to try a few rolls.
The major issue with Fuji is the equipment cost. I don’t think Fuji will be open to reallocating that equipment. The major film plant in Japan mostly does Instax and other chemical work now. It’s mostly up to whether Fuji has spare machinery or tooling left.
If it's anything like the old Lucky film was, it's going to be quite good. The original film had a pretty weak anti-halation layer so expect some blooming highlights. The biggest problem was that the commercial film scanners never had the proper profiles for it, so most images got printed with a slight color shift. Also, the dye layers on the unexposed film are not as robust as other brands, so using expired stock does present some definite challenges.
I still have a roll or two of Lucky 100 from when I bought it when it was last in production. Just shot some recently and it's still going strong, always loved Lucky 100.
If it’s at or below $7.50 I’m immediately buying a brick of it to test out and then, if I like it, I’ll probably buy another brick or two. Of course this all hinges on this film not ending up as vapor ware.
I recently picked up a gew rolls of lucky 100 and the one roll ive shot came out super under exposed, blue and like shit. I may have under exposed it but the whole roll came out like ass haha

Assuming it's the same emulsion, you can find examples of Lucky on flickr from back when they were last producing it

Even if the street price works out to $7.50, I will be buying some. (Though I will definitely buy more at 5.50 or 6.00. lol)
