There were so many references to Frankie Valli in this series, dropping his name, having his music playing in the background or at clubs, there's even an episode titled after one of his signature songs (Big Girls Don't Cry). Genius move to cast him. Proved to be a good actor too.

Not to get all allegorical, but this came out shortly after 9/11, and the statement about people in the street welcoming Carmine's faction as heroes held a lot of weight after the invasion of Iraq didn't pan out the way Washington thought. I feel that's an interesting touch. Anyways, have a sundae and zone out in front a da friggin' TV

One theme of the show was, that so many insecure incompetent people got to the top which led to theire downfall. Tony was quite lucky i guess, but in the later seasons his temper got him into even more trouble. Johnny was a good captain, but a terrible leader which led to the downfalls of the whole house. He should not have listend to Butchie and Phil.

That being said, how come no one in the show ever went up to Rusty and said, "Hey, Rusty, you know you're the spitting image of Frankie Valli?!?!"
