- Also known as "Brose And Butter," "Cuddle Me Cuddy," and a few other names, it belongs to a large family of tunes. The tune that ends the set is "Drops of Brandy," another member of the family. William Ross, Queen Victoria's piper, cast it in a different key altogether and called it "The Duke of Edinburgh". That's the tune in the middle of the set. My Lowland pipes were made by Ray Sloan. I feel very fortunate to own them. This type of bagpipe goes by several names: Border pipes, reel pipes, half-long pipes, Lowland pipes. Ray's pipes have a unique and pleasant sound. The thumbnail is of Geordie Syme from a painting by John Kay dating back to 1789.
