I was retaliated against so I quit, made a complaint to the EEOC and received a right to sue. EEOC will most likely deny it but still go through with it. That experience motivated me more to open my business and run circles around these people . It’s chess not checkers but don’t lose yourself!

Good point Mocha Brown. You have to be strategic and think every move through.

This is good. I searched “black women in corporate” specifically so I can hear some stories because sometimes I feel alone as a black woman in corporate. I’m 8 years into my career and I am usually the only woman or the only black woman in the room. It’s taxing. Thank you all for sharing.

I am so glad their stories helped you to see that you are not alone. If you'd like to learn more, grab a copy of the book, Shut'em Down: Black Women, Racism, and Corporate America where 20 Black women share how racism impacted their lives while working in Corporate America.

It’s extremely taxing- from the moment we wake up and get ready ( making sure your clothing is perfect, attempting to cover our curves that allow us to make a sack look sexy)…..to the moment we walk to our cars to go home (making sure someone isn’t jealous your vehicle is better)

I honestly feel like a target under a microscope that has to always work twice as hard and be doubly qualified just to get half as far. It's discouraging and I have no aspirations to be a C-Level because I know I won't get any support.

Thank you so much for creating and putting in the hard work for this desperately needed topic to be discussed and addressed. I am currently going thru so much on the job I feel. I have been working in the technical support and IT field for over 17 years . I currently u see a certain manager have been experiencing micromanaging and ridicule. I am the only person of color and woman in my team. My manager never really compliments my work but always compliments his “friend” my co worker that was hired by him on everything. Thank you for the tips.

Not just women but black and hispanic men too. The entire feminist movement was started by white women in the kk? and they only wanted black women to join them to help divide themselves from black men. It shouldn't just be about black women, we all live in a white male dominated society. Black men and Hispanic men will never be on the same level as white privilege if there's less minority women backing them up too and the same thing goes for minority men backing up minority women. You don't think us black and hispanic men wonder why the management position mostly always go to either a white male, asian male or black female. If a female makes more than her husband who works in the same work place of course she's going to want to leave him for either a asian or white male who's on her same level, she may not get paid as much as them but more than her black male workers . That's how racism in the work place works. Just like a black male only getting excepted into a white college if he plays sports but not if he wants to become a rocket scientist but a black woman is just about always accepted, its all set up that way, just like in the 1940s and 50s birth control and abortion centers where heavily being marketed to the black community but not the white community,no different than today's lgbt commercials, it's all a set up for the black race to seem lower as a whole and it's all hidden.

Jermar your post is a lot to unpack. Sounds like you need to write a book that focuses on the plight of the Black man, but part of the division is when Black men decide to tell Black women that they need to carry their load too or include them and it can't just be about us. If you ever stop for a moment you'll notice that most of the media attention is on the Black man, not the Black woman. Also, when we start to talk about Corporate America, Black men make more than Black women. Racism works in a lot of different ways, but it's unfair of you to place it on the back of Black women and say we need to deal with our shit and your shit too.

You need to talk to an employment attorney. They specialize in cases like yours (and you have a case if you are being harassed and retaliated against).

@@DrCareyYazeedTV I know a lot of black women are going threw a lot especially raising children as single mothers and the average single family household makes around $45,000 a year but I have to disagree on you saying that the media speaks about issues effecting black men more than black women. the media as a whole speaks less about black people in general and only speaks on issues effecting black people once the word gets out, basically we have to be our own voice and their are positive minded black male media outlets speaking on issues such as this effecting black women such as the Willie D Live , Our Black World, The Advice Show, ect. I too was raised in a single family household with just my mother and while my father wasn't always in the picture I learned to love and appreciate black women, I find strong black women to be the upmost best women on the planet and while I do agree that a lot of us black men need to start stepping up and being great fathers, I feel we as a people need to stop arguing with each other like he said she said, back in forth, black men this and black men that videos all over youtube because not all us black men treat our women wrong. Were just looking for our women to speak up more for us like we do for them, like a unity. Black women used to speak up for black men a lot but that all changed with social media, now they just focus more on themselves, white women always uplift white men and that's why white men remain on the top. a black man says white men are giving better opportunities and nothing it's never mentioned on tv shows like the real, it's always about what's effecting black women

Stacey says "luckily for me" her name pulled up 30 + white women. My concern is that we attend school and do well to now work in a society that "does not like us". she then says she is lucky to have that name. Black women, this should not be a norm. We shouldn't be living in a society that rejects, dismisses and despises us. We are soooo desperate for acceptance to work for corporate that has tailored their policies to filter us out. We need more of us to not work for corporate and partake in this madness. The definition of insanity is what we do, work for corporate. We should all have our own everything as they do. I walked into a predominately African store the other day with a friend and was blown away. I saw a mexican behind the counter where they cook food. A mexican. Like really. Only our people. This is the problem right there. What we have is limited on a collective scale and the little that we do have as individuals, not collectively, the little we have we too busy sharing the ingredients with other races. This is why we can't propel as a race to the next phase. We have got to change our mindset.

Not only VP elect Harris was treated, how she held back so she wouldn’t fall into the angry black woman stereotype. However, she was judged regardless of her carrying
that weight and stress that comes with her race and future appointment.
I’m too excited to find your channel. I work in occupational safety and health and on the planning committee for our future symposium. Is it possible for us to talk offline? I’ve been pushing for more speakers on this subject matter as it is critical. Feel free to contact me on LinkedIn or let me know how to contact you. I look forward to speaking with you.
