Sir, through using your tips and tricks I recently did an essay on a Christmas Carol in school and bagged a 29/30, just wanted to say thank you for this!!! If you meed an essay for a video ill be happy to send it in!! 👍❤
Literature Paper 1 in 5 days and ur videos are very useful THANK YOU! will return on results day to share my grade (of which u will have been a major contribution to) 🙃💯💯
I got 30/30 in A Christmas Carol in my November Mocks. I'm so happy! Thank You, Mr. Salles, for teaching me about writing about the writer's purpose and how to include context. Hopefully, I can expand my knowledge further through these videos. Thank You!!
@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish Sir, I commented my attempt at Question 2 Paper 2 English Langauge a while ago. Please can you check it please? Thank You! There are similar things about the emotions the two women feel but they have a different emphasis. Malala conveys feelings of paranoia and fear as she felt "afraid" that "Taliban guns" would "leap out" towards her. This emphasises her constant fear of the Taliban when she foes out and emphasising the danger and threat imposed by the Taliban she has perhaps witnessed in the past hence resulting in her feelings of paranoia. Moreover, Malala then goes on to say that they could "throw acid in my face". Perhaps, the writer wants us to understand the paranoia women face when just walking on the street having a constant fear of the Taliban. The fact that it is the Taliban has only does this to "women in Afghanistan" further emphasises the fear Malala feels as a girl as she is a target for the Taliban emphasizing her paranoia as she thinks she "heard footsteps behind [her]". Malala also conveys a dutiful emotion that she needs to protect her family as well as herself due to her worry of the Taliban listing that she would check "every single door and window" as well as "checking all the rooms" emphasising how she sees it as her role to make sure she and her family are safe from the Taliban. Perhaps, Malala is emphasising to the reader how she had to protect herself and her family from fears of the Taliban. Perhaps, Malala wants the reader to sympathise at how a young child has to live in such paranoia just because she is a girl in a middle eastern country. Whereas, Jacob presents the narrator having a worrying feeling as she is unable to find what her future holds as her "mother died" when she was "6 years old". The narrator conveys how her "young mind" was "troubled" about her future and "who would now take care of [her] and [her] little brother" emphasising to the reader the security of her future the narrator was anticipating for her and her brother as she was a "slave" and therefore treated like a "chattel". Jacob also presents the narrator being content and grateful despite being a "slave" and "working for her mistress". Jacob describes how her mistress was "kind" and how she would "sit by her side for hours, sewing diligently". perhaps, this emphasises the unusually close relationship and affection between the young girl, who was a "slave, and her mistress. Moreover, Jacob says that her heart was "as free from care as that of any free-born white child". Perhaps, Jacob is trying to make the reader feel content that as despite the child being born into slavery, she was able to feel content in a loving home and not face hardships and suffer as most slaves do which is emphasised through the fact that she felt the same emotions of freedom and joy as any "free-born white child".
hi sir! i really appreciate your videos, they have helped me improve so much and enjoy english so much more over this short quarantine period. i was wondering if you would be able to do specific character analysis videos on a christmas carol as i feel as though they are really informative, but if not i understand and greatly appreciate your content! thank you so much
Sir, around 18:08 could you say the reason for this irony and contrast is to show how every single person within this 'surplus population' has a family and individual story like the cratchits, therefore making the reader have more sympathy and allow them to think about their future treatment towards the poor
Hi Mr Salles, you're videos are great. You may already have a video on this but I was wondering if you could do one on how to include different perspectives in your essay. E.g. "A marxist would think Macbeth/ Shakespeare/ Dickens...." etc etc. How to put them into your essays, the general outlines of what beliefs each view follows and why they might agree/ disagree and so on. That would be so helpful
Hi there sir. When writing mentioning quotes, do you need to state the act that it came from as well? My teacher said that it's necessary you do, but I find it useless unless it helps with your explanation.
For the surplus population quote you could add Christian views and how this would shock and terrify the readers for how a man wishes people dead, it was a sin back then.
Hi sir, I just wanted to ask what a good introduction would be for Jekyll and Hyde which can be used for any essay, no matter what the question? Plz reply quickly as I have a mock exam in 2 days!!!
Okayy thank you ! I recently started watching your videos and I must say so far I’m impressed about how detailed they are and will continue watching your videos everyday until I get atleast a grade 8 or a 9😊@@MrSallesTeachesEnglish
