    The automatic shapebinder feature is so useful. I tried going back to the main branch and it just feels so clunky without it.

    amazing video ! loved it, tysm.
    i have missed the Catia, and in my mind it is the strongest CAD software, with this video, freecad got one step closer to catia.

    Awesome. Another possibility for a quick video is how to go back and change the selection in an export set. I found you could do this, very useful!

    • @VorpalGun
      @VorpalGun 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      How? I looked but couldn't figure it out (at least not when the feature was first introduced a few weeks ago, haven't tried since then). Also, is it possible for the shape binder approach?

    • @dnmnsmith
      @dnmnsmith 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VorpalGun Opening the exported selection shows the selected elements, and I found they could be changed. Not 100% though, there were some oddities, but I was able to remove a selected circle and the model updated nicely.

      The feature is still in it's infancy. If you take a read at this post www.patreon.com/posts/becoming-github-52094706 you see that the ability to easily add and remove geometry to SubShapeBinders/Exported sketches is on the roadmap .
      The only issue I see is that RealThunder is only one man and has only 24 hours in a day for family coding and sleeping. This is the main reason why I relentlessly publicize his work and link his patreon everywhere. With enough funding he seems to be the only full time developer of FC at the moment. Please don't get me wrong, the code base is huge and although the team of coders is small the quantity and quality of code is outstanding and is shared between master and LinkStage3 but honestly RealThunder is the one that spends the most man hours on it.

    I am wondering, if you can extrude circular cut( as oposite to circular extrusion) with several sketched independent shapes- because you can not even extrude circular bodies with several sketched circles (or whatever other shapes you might have) to create separate bodies (Doughnuts). Neither it is possible to create aditive helix with 360 degree rotation, only one turn and 0 pitch, 0 hight to get a simple doughnut.(it gives error-do not know why) Someone with Python Knowledge should be able to make a little Python hook/sub/macro to do these things.

    Does not work with the official standard FreeCAD software. None of the two shown methods can be used to PAD multiple objects. I find it unbelievable the "normal" standard FreeCAD has such a deal breaker limitations. It makes it impossible to design certain parts where you need to extrude multiple shapes from a 2D sketch.

    • @SiXiam
      @SiXiam ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the end most of this is just a shortcut of creating sketches. Which seems to be the only way to extrude or pad at different heights.

    I cant find the "Export selected geometries" button in Sketcher. I'm using FreeCAD 0.19.

      This is not the official Freecad version but the "Realthunder" version. So this is a possible function in a next Freecad version

      @OficineRobotica  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Some features are exclusive to linkstage3 branch. If you use this you will get the icon github.com/realthunder/FreeCAD/releases
      Bare in mind that LinkStage3 is a testing branch and should not be used for important projects

    Hello, this is pin pointing what I am looking for to be add in freecad, to be able from an sketch to pad by selection of closed areas inside an sketch. This video gives some workarounds, but this option will be added in the future?

    • @OficineRobotica
      @OficineRobotica  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I talked with realthunder about that and he said that it is something that he would like to add but it is not really strait foreword coding it. He understands the technicalities better. I wish for that feature also :)

    With freecad the only quote or measure that you can insert are only for extrusion...the sketch are free hand draw!!!. Is for artist not for mechanical parts designers!!!
