First, thank you for your service! I played Horn in US Army Bands 1986-2009. Have to say this is exciting and scary at the same time. Exciting, because it pulls the price point down on professional quality Horns (maybe: I've never tried one of these, so I'm taking you at your word). Scary, because I really do not want Chinese industrial capacity to overwhelm and replace European and American hand craftsmanship in the manufacture of brass instruments. Once that's gone, it's gone. My personal instrument is a Yamaha Custom YHR-862 (nickel silver Kruspe wrap) that I bough in 1983. I've always wanted a Geyer/Schmidt Horn (I grew up in the Chicago area). This week I just purchased a Schmidt copy, c.1915-1933 of slightly dubious origins (probably King, but I need to do a lot of research). Thank you for your review: I'll definitely keep this in mind if the Schmidt doesn't work out.

I absolutely love my OX. It’s fantastic ( I’m an Army bandsman so I can 100% say this is the horn for me) 📯

Thank you for your service, and thanks for the review of the XO. I'm presently in the market for a new horn (in the process of selling my Patterson 8D at the moment) and I've been wanting to hear an unvarnished opinion of this horn. Also, I second the recommendation for the Houghton mouthpieces, having recently switched to the stainless steel H1. It's super responsive and probably the best 'all-rounder' mouthpiece I've ever tried... it really opened up my low range, and has made passing the low-mid range 'break' a lot easier for me.
