    I love how Zoro was grinning and sweating after Usopp said sorry. It shows that he was nervous that Usopp won't apologize and that he really wanted him to come back.

    Ep 322: I think my favorite part of that is showing how Franky gathered his family. Like he's saying if you weren't sure that Franky fit with the Straw Hats, here's your proof that he is one of them.
    Ep 323: 😭😭😭😭😭😭 Every. Freaking. Time.
    Usopp needed to understand that it doesn't matter that Luffy is his best friend (really, that they are that tight), when Luffy was being a captain, Usopp needed to be crew, not a friend.
    Both Zoro and Luffy were conveniently deaf until Usopp actually apologized, something I've seen people miss. While no one was as happy as Luffy, Zoro was perfectly okay with giving him as long as he needed to apologize. He wanted him back too.
    They also could have taken off much sooner but they were giving Usopp every opportunity they could afford. Really, if not for Franky's little escape trick, it was already too late for them to get out of there.

  • @cra0422

    Zoro's speech about Usopp needed to happen. Luffy gives his crewmates a LOT of leeway because he thinks of them as friends & family, but he's still the captain of the crew, and thus there are times where he needs to put his foot down and be a hardass. And this was definitely one of those times. Just because Luffy is rubber doesn't mean he has to be a doormat. Regardless of who was right or wrong between Luffy and Usopp, Luffy made a command decision and Usopp went against it. That could be considered insubordination at best and attempted mutiny at worst (and I say attempted because no one else sided with him). If Luffy had taken Usopp back as a crewmember without so much as an apology, then he would shown he was unworthy of being called captain, let alone king of the pirates. Don't forget it was Usopp's decision to leave the crew, no one forced him to go. If he had returned acting like nothing had happened or even worse, that the crew should be grateful for his return, then they were better off without him.

    What I love about One Piece so much are the life lessons this story teaches. They are way better than any other story Ive seen. Learning to swallow your pride and admit you were wrong is something many people could learn from, and Zoros explanation on Respect is sooo perfect. Its such good writing because these are real emotions people dont seem to know how to deal with sometimes. But One Piece paints this perfect picture on how to come to terms with them.

    You know thing is serious when Sanji agreed with Zoro instead of Nami.
    Also despite acting cold in the matter with Usopp, Zoro is still a softie with his friend. He said that "If the first thing Usopp said is not a sincere apology, they will leave him", and yet when Usopp start yapping nonsense as the first thing he said when he ran toward the crew, he just be like "Nope, not hear anything", which is his way to give Usopp chance to do it right. He might act tough, but he is not cold-blooded and value his friends.

  • @RutabegaNG
    @RutabegaNG 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    Additional note on Usopp rejoining: that's the first time we've seen Luffy smile like that, the big grim from the goofy rubber boy we've known from the beginning, since the fight.
    I still don't think either one of them was 100% wrong. It's a conversation that needed to happen. It just so happened to be at a very emotional time for everyone, so it got out of hand.

    • @Waavlu
      @Waavlu 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Usopp's argument wasn't 100% wrong but leaving the crew and abandoning his friends was 100% wrong. Just my thoughts

    • @arlangunadi8674
      @arlangunadi8674 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Yes Usopp is not wrong, but the way he reacted and how he go about it is definitely wrong.
      At the end of the Enies Lobby, after Merry saved them and suddenly broke into half, Luffy himself said that "He don't want any other ship but Merry" when he begged Iceberg. It's proof that Luffy himself never want to left Merry, but as a 'Captain' he must take that decision. Usopp is right in that they should not just left Merry behind, and Merry is indeed their comrade, but the way he accuse Luffy of "Not caring about merry, and one day Luffy will also left his friend if they no longer useful" is totally wrong, and his insistence about "Merry can still sail" is nothing but denial. It can be attributed that the situation at that time is to blame as well, but ultimately both of them saying things they should not have.

    • @RutabegaNG
      @RutabegaNG 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@arlangunadi8674 you're right, the way Luffy responded to Usopp was also wrong. The rest of the crew had an opportunity to mourn, to sit with the idea that Merry was at the end of her life. Usopp didn't.
      Although Luffy was trying to be cheerful to lessen the blow, what it did instead was reinforce Usopp's belief that since he was also "useless," he'd be tossed aside like nothing, too. He didn't see what else he brought.
      He didn't recognize the brilliance of his climatakt, for instance, or the other things he manages to jerryrig together, things no one else would think of, let alone make work.
      And again, in a highly emotional time, fantasy characters might always know the exact right way to handle it, normal people don't. And despite all of their gifts and tankiness, there's still an element of realness in all of those characters. This was part of that.

    the "everybody's on board!" hits WAY too hard. the water 7 arc easily displays the MOST instability in the crew for the show. We watched these bonds and relationships be pushed to their limits and it was nerve racking, including loosing a staple to the whole dynamic (merry). It was almost cathardic to hear that line and watch the whole crew finally back together and ready to go on.

    One Piece is one of the anime that DID NOT Abuse ""The Power of Friendship"" .. sure , Luffy won against Lucci by the power of friendship but its NOT the power that suddenly make him OP instead , power of friendship comes in a form of Will Power .. which by the way took a toll on Luffy's body , made his body unable to move later

    • @carlossierra9685
      @carlossierra9685 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would add to that by saying that "the power of friendship" in luffy's crew is genuinely the driving force. Things do not get done, luffy doesn't accomplish what he wants, without the others. Him being useless in anything that isn't fighting or eating, but the others cover for him, and he covers for them, that's the power of the strawhats

      More like he was respecting Luffy so much that he refuses to let others think lowly of his captain. Luffy going around and apologizing just so he can get someone back isn't how he should present himself as a captain. The beauty of this scene is that it showed the growth of certain individuals and the crew in general.

      Yes Ussop can do that, but he can't join the crew if he did. If he want to be prideful, he will need to start his own crew.
      Ussop is in the wrong. Luffy and the other love the Merry, they tried everything and convincing the Galleyla shipwrights to fix it, but as the experts said, it cant be. Also Iceburg told Luffy, basically saying, if you continue on the journey on that ship, you are a bad captain. Risking your crew's life over a factual bad decision (as they have proof that the Merry cant be fixed). Hence Luffy made his decision.
      And it is proven after the Ennies Lobby that the Merry is soon to broke down completely. If the Galleyla ship didnt arrive there, they are stuck in the middle of Grandline, no where near islands which is dangerous.
      After their Ussop left the crew many things happen, Ussop talked with Franky and said he knows the Merry situation all along, and he saw the Merry broke down also. So he knows he is in the wrong. If you are in the wrong, and still wouldnt say sorry or admit to your mistakes, you're a just a jerk now.

      he can definitely stand ten toes on business, but if he were, he would need to stand alone. I'm sure in an alternate universe, without the crew, he becomes the best sniper, but doing it the same way Mihawk is doing it. The current world's greatest swordsman and he's alone.
