I have had ulcerative colitis for 3 years and no medication helped. So two days ago I received my ostomy bag. It’s very challenging to learn but these videos really help me
Amazing Video Maggie! your review of all three products was fantastic. Adhesion is SO important. If the appliance does not stick .. NOTHING else matters until that can be resolved. Hurray for Adhesive Options!!!
You and your channel have been so helpful with information. Me having a Ileostomy for just about a year, I've learned so much just watching and listening to your videos. Just wanted to say Thank You.
OMG Maggie I actually laughed when you were talking about using the lubricant for sledding. My mind went straight to National lampoons Christmas vacation when clark used that spray on his sled and went fast enough to burn a hole through the sled. 🤣🤣🤣
From a medical or gift giving point of view, there is no reason for me to watch this but I love channel and the videos because of Maggie’s personality and sense of humour (like using the lube for sledding 😂), and being curious about medical things. PS the ending did end up being relevant to me as a marketing and design student lol
Thanks for sharing these products. I have been thinking about a stoma guard and wondered how yours was actually working for you. Now I know - you lost it. 😆 I hope the new one works for you. It looks nice and sturdy. 💜
I was so hopeful because I loved Revels branding, but I hated the samples I tried. I have an ileostomy, but usually my output is on the thicker side, and Revels product is just wayyy to oily/greasy for me. It made clean-up really messy during my empties. The deodorizer didn't work for me either, but everyones chemistry is different, so I can't fault them for that. I hope they plan to come out with additional formulas and products as they grow!
I bought some of the adhesive spray, I used the Hollister one for 20+ years and I was really unhappy they stopped making it! So hopefully this will work just as well!
Maggie you are looking so lovely and happy and a pleasure to watch and listen to. I wish you so much joy with your baby…..your husband looks like a special man and the two of you have a wonderful adventure ahead of you. Have a really Blessed Christmas and I will be watching you both from South Africa. God’s richest Blessings ❤❤
New subscriber and new to my osteomy.does the deodorizer go in the bottom of the bag or the top of you have a drainable bag and is it safe to get on the stoma?
Thanks so much! I totally agree that the products you featured have much more friendly packaging. Love the stuff you shared and am going to be checking some of it out.
I really need to try out that Revel brand. I need a better lubricant. Using name brand but it is more watery then lubricant and I do tend to get pancaking frequently. It looks like it might do the job. Thanks for showing the new stoma guard. I was thinking about getting the one you had before just because my little Terrier tends to want to put his paw where my stoma is and have to rush to put the hand over it. I kind of like the look of this new one. Thank you for showing the new products.
Are ostomy adhesives any good for sticking light dressings on other skin wounds . My mum is very allergic to micropore tape and we keep having to dress a sore leg .Any advice would be so very welcome 😊
In addition to ostomy care, Medical adhesive sprays are frequently leveraged in both wound care and prosthetic applications, like a border dressing, negative pressure, wound therapy drape, or a mastectomy breast form or prosthetic fingers. They are pressure sensitive in nature, and will add or increase adhesive to anything they are applied to.☺️
Hi Maggie. Could you do something about adhesive remover. My niece is type 1 diabetic and she is frustrated by her monitor thingy sorry I hopeless. I think it would be useful for her to know about other products available. Many thanks ❤
I like deodorizing lubricant in a squeeze bottle that is thinner and not a huge shot like that one product that was really a lot. It is from Coloplast and called Brava. I also buy a jug of Mineral Oil that is unscented and put a little Brava in the bag and a little Mineral Oil which makes it go further and saves money.
You may have an allergy to certain adhesives so you may want to try different flanges to see if the problem improves! You can also try Flonase (the steroid nasal spray) but because there is a steroid, it is important to ask your stoma nurse if this is appropriate for you.
I’ve been dealing with irritated and itching skin too , I used to use hollister at the hospital but then changed to coloplast, my skin became very itchy and irritated, now the nurse prescribed me steroid cream and back to Hollister, we will see if it solves the problem
I've been thinking about getting a dome protector for my stoma and one of the comments I read in product reviews on Prime mentioned that with the dome in place 'he' could now wear pants with a belt in the normal fashion (even tuck in his shirt) without concern. This alone, would make this product a value to me.
The only deodorant I have found that works is safe and simple. I also buy a lubricant. Would you say the Revel works as well as Safe and Simple? Thanks!!!
I have to assume yes - I'm fairly certain they'd have to test this prior to launching because it would inevitably come in contact with the stoma at some point! This is only an assumption though and would need to be checked directly with the company!
I was given a bottle of the Revel product. I have a colostomy and use a drainable Hollister product. I have to be very careful because the Hollister filter at the top has actually dissolved this with this product. It took a couple days but it doesn't like this product. I didn't care for the eucalyptus scent. It does help with the pancaking but be very careful with the filter issue which causes a hole in the bag.
Thank you for letting me know! I glue my filters shut on my Convatec ones otherwise they leak, so that may have blocked it from getting through the filter!
Hi Maggie. I saw on one of your videos about an organization where i can donate unused ostomy supplies. Now i cant find it. Could you let me know the best group? Thanks. Ostoforms were too small for my stoma.
Thanks. I did go ahead and send them to Samaritan's Purse. They have a division that collects and distributes all kinds of medical supplies and equipment.
I need an ileostomy pouch! There is leakage from the draining spout. I use M9 and I’m getting infections. So I need to wear a pouch but haven’t found a nice/good one. Any recommendations?
That's actually why I prefer non-drainables and emptying through their ring! I had the same problem with leaking, even after thorough cleaning. I didn't seem to have too much of an issue with Convatec's Esteem bag or Coloplast's Sensura mio!
What is a stoma cover the hard thing I don’t understand what it’s for could you please explain I have an ileostomy because I had a intestinal transplant
@LetsTalkIBD still cracks me up either way. "Hey... Wanna go faster? No problem... Borrow my ostomy adhesive!" Kool trick to show/share with kids so they aren't scared of it and understand it!
I've started using Convatec convex wafers based on your recommendation, and think they are great. Now if you could convince them to start making closed end pouches for them WITHOUT filters, I'd be thrilled. The damn things leak, and they don't eliminate odors. Yes, you can cover the filter, but this doesn't always work. if you have any influence with them, please help!
I use closed bags, and finding a closed bag with a filter was my holy grail (I use hollister). I change more than once a day usually, so the filters don’t often get leaky until I’m about to change anyway.
I have been using Nu- Hope drainable deep convex pouches for years and the one thing that always bothered me was the fact that they didn't have filters to help with gas. I would have to go to the bathroom not to empty my pouch but just to let the air out of my pouch. They do make close ended pouches that are flat, convex, and deep convex and they don't have filters. Maybe try Nu-Hope pouches.
@@tamarawelsh6873 I've had an ileostomy since 1994. It took me until 2002 to discover two-piece closed end pouches, and they changed my life. They work like Tupperware, and if you get too much gas, you find an appropriate spot (usually the bathroom) and "burp" it. Super easy. For years I had the option of the Convatec closed end pouches without the filter, but they only make filter bags that work with the convex wafers I just started using. I've done everything imaginable to stop up those damn filters and they still leak. I won't give up the convenience of disposable bags, but may have to go to another system.
Maggie I'm wondering if you've ever had issues with prolapse. I'm dealing with this on a daily basis. My proctocolectomy is coming in January or February. Diagnosed with Crohn's at 8. 3 resections 8, 13, 18. Left with 8" of colon. Ileostomy at 69. It's not been fun so far. Hopefully gets better after next surgery.
I was watching a video yesterday and lost it. It was on a bag. Gray fabric color, figure 8 shape and no krinkling sound from the bag which would be good. What product was that for and how do I access your response?
I wanted to love the Revel products (I agree, their branding is so cute 🥰) but it’s a little too lubricating for me lol and honestly I like other deodorizers better! Nascent by NB Products is the best I have found!

It worked fantastic before I lost it haha!
Maggie you always look beautiful but are absolutely glowing and look so vibrant in new videos
Great information Maggie!!!!! This will really help people looking for different products that may be a game changer!!!
I love that you are so real. I am interested in trying a product or two! Thank you, Maggie
I just ordered the first two snd will order the halo dome next weekend. Hopefully it will get here before my Jan 17 surgery!
Thank you Maggie. I always learn something new from your channel.

The "going sledding" got me! lol.
Hey Maggie thanks for 3 new products info!!!..are there any new pouches out???
Love the reviews! I’ve been wanting to try the Revel lubricant/deodorizer. You’ve convinced me to try it! ❤

You could also try silk tape or pink tape.

this is life changing ???? i’m so excited
I love seeing all these new additions to our "ostomy toolkit" !! look out winter hot tubs !!!

Hi ya all. I'm going through alot of itching and its mainly where the adhesive flange on my skin. What is good to stop this.
Me too! I’m allergic to Manuka Honey and all Hollister adhesives

You can try Nu-Hope pouches. They use foam borders so not itchy at all.

That's exactly my experience with it!
I just got that same stoma protector. I haven't used it yet, though.
what is the stoma dome for
Was very interested in the Revel lubricant. I went on their site & requested a sample. Sadly, it doesn't look like they ship out of the USA 😢
They are quite new so fingers crossed this will be available to you soon!!
The only deodorant I have found that works is safe and simple. I also buy a lubricant. Would you say the Revel works as well as Safe and Simple? Thanks!!!
Maggie, can these lubricants and deodorizer actually have contact with your stoma? I always add to the bottom of the bag because Im not sure.
I have to assume yes - I'm fairly certain they'd have to test this prior to launching because it would inevitably come in contact with the stoma at some point! This is only an assumption though and would need to be checked directly with the company!
@LetsTalkIBD Thank you!
On revel website , they said if it comes in contact with your stomach or peristomal skin it should not cause any irritation.
Maggie, what are the in the bag deodorizers that work with the more solid out of colonoscopies?
This one I show in this video I'd say is perfect for colostomies!
I have a colostomy and I like Nascent best and it's clear so you don't have to worry about the blue color of others like M9
@
Thank you!
Please excuse the errors in my previous post. It was the middle of the night and I had taken cold medicine!

Stealth Belt seems to be recovering. I just got an order delivered that I put in a month ago. So about twice as long as they originally indicated.
That's great news! I'm so glad you were able to get your belt - I've heard only good things about their product.
What is a stoma cover the hard thing I don’t understand what it’s for could you please explain I have an ileostomy because I had a intestinal transplant
Only you would metaphorical compare 💩 and snow 😆 kinda love it if I'm being honest 😆
Hahaha I meant it as putting the lubricant on the bottom of your sled, like some put oil to sled faster!
@LetsTalkIBD still cracks me up either way. "Hey... Wanna go faster? No problem... Borrow my ostomy adhesive!" Kool trick to show/share with kids so they aren't scared of it and understand it!
Post ileostomy how long it took for you to gain weight

I am not understanding how this guard works. I wish she would have shown how it works, but good to know about the product.
Their website demonstrates it very well!
😄😄😄💖💖💖❤❤❤👍👍👍
Does that pillow create optical illusions in person? From here it looks like there are big holes all the way through it. 🤔
Optical illusion I suppose!
I'm a child free single cat lady, babies aren't for me but I'm so excited to be your village ❤❤❤
Thank you so much!! 🩷
Right I agree medical stuff is usually bland I could see some one thinking your useing hair spray bc of the color of the bottle😂
💜💜💜
Need some help to some bag iam from jamaica
Stoma day yesterday…
I wanted to love the Revel products (I agree, their branding is so cute 🥰) but it’s a little too lubricating for me lol and honestly I like other deodorizers better! Nascent by NB Products is the best I have found!
Stoma highly absorptive?
Deodorizer
Fetal circulation
??????
🫶🏼 That’s great stuff
