It's been so good seeing you back, your bass reviews are the most thorough and well considered out there! And in your most recent reviews, it's been great to see how happy you've been looking. Keep up the great work, Lobster!
Lobster rocking some Joe Dirt And the Bass faces you make Means business Have been a fan from the beginning and glad to see your happy from the inside out
Been a subscriber to your channel for several years, Lobster, and I still love the enthusiasm you put in these videos. But I gotta ask. - Why is the Lobster claw gone?
As someone who wanted the original Joe Dart bass but looked at the price and said "I could probably make my own for cheaper" and settled on a $400 price target, this was something I was really hoping to pick up but didn't have the money during the pre-order period. "Making your own" might also be an interesting idea to follow up on for content, especially for anyone else who's in a similar boat.
I'm from Jakarta, Indonesia, this bass is made in Indonesia, but the shipping cost is very expensive because it is sent from USA, not from East Java, which normally only costs 5 to 8 dollars for shipping.
These sold so well they will for sure a Sterling V.2 just like they do with the MusicMans. It will be limited time preorder and likely a slight variation but for anyone who didn't order one they will have a chance again most likely on the next one. Great review, I can't wait to get mine.
The back of the headstocks are stamped "2024 crop", so it is very likely. The implication that Music Man is encouraging scalping is way off base. This wasn't a sneaker drop were 50% of the people can't obtain the shoes. Everyone who ordered the bass received the bass.
I still remember your amazing Sterling Stingray 34/35 review, back when the recently upgraded Sterling Stingray line had been updated and retailed for around 800$ new. Luckily, I pre-ordered one as well :D can't wait! Thanks lobster!
Awesome review as always! I'd love to get my hands on one of these, so hopefully Sterling decides to put these into production again. I have a suggestion for a video: how to use a compressor properly on bass, how to set up the compressor, etc. Also, perhaps how to use pedals like a limiter properly, how to use equalizer pedals. I have a compressor, but Im not sure if I have it set up properly. Anyway, just a thought. Keep up yhe great work!
I purchased one and I was thrilled with it. I gave it to my dad to play and if they have another release, I'll purchase another. I have a pre-Ernie Ball Stingray and a more recent 5HH but I really like this one.
i loved my sterling SUB in maple color, it showed the wood grain and i plan going to get another one. i wonder if theres anything special about the pick up with this thing?
I was just thinking yesterday how you haven't put up a video in a while and then as soon as I think that I look up and see that you put up a video about the Sterling Joe dart that's pretty cool
Great test video as always! Many Thanx, Lobster! I agree that it is somewhat sad that even a Sterling series bass may become an object of speculation on scarcity...for the MM US models, it does not bother me - but this one here should be really widely available ....
how do these compare to the z line at sires? I gotta 5 string fretless ebmm might get another knockoff (gave my last one with the pbass pups added in to my niece)
Mine was also set up exceptionally well! The only thing I had to do was lower that pickup significantly to reduce the output. Once I did that, we were off to the races
That octaver sounds like a Hammond B III, and you of course went into organ mode for feeling it too. Strange how the sound can influence how one uses it. Sometimes you just have to play what the sound calls you to!😉
I have one. Great bass. Build/Neck is great, compareable to my USA Stingray. Pickup has strong output, nice tone, and I really dont miss the tone knob. The flats really suit this bass. I like the bridge, its solid, no need to change it. Imo.
Hi, I got my Joe Dart Sterling by Musicman for a bit more than a week now. I totally agree with your thoughts about the instrument. It sounds great (love the 2805's by Ernie Ball) plays like a breeze and the general finish is good too. I paid a little more for the bass because I live in Switzerland and shipping rates form the US to Europe are crazy high... and I did not get the bill for the customs and Swiss VAT (8,1%) yet. But I don't regret my purchase as it will be a good bass for some of the covers I play. Cheers, looking forward for the next review ☺
I bought one figuring I’d just play it for an hour and sell it for a profit. But I love it. The fretwork is astonishing, the neck smooth and fast and I got lucky with some real flame on mine too. I’ve always gone for La Bella flats but these strings are great and compliment the bass tone perfectly. All round very impressed. I’ve got a room full of custom shops and I keep picking this up.
@ I was going to do my own video review of it but then I watched your review and realised I couldn’t dream of coming close to your playing, charisma or video skills and decided against it. Maybe I should just to show off the flame 😂
@chrisjs6123 don't let me stop you! I love watching other people's content and supporting the bass youtuber community. Chack out my discord channel too :)
I have nothing of value to say but my understanding is that comments appease the Algorithm. I think that Leafboing Gatorsnorgle would make a funny name. Thanks, Lobster 10/10 fricheks
Added a stacked tone/volume pot to mine. Just the sound I was looking for. Great reversible upgrade (removing the cool plastic knob is kinda sad, unfortunately) When I added the part numbers, TH-cam deleted my comment. Will send the info directly to Lobster and perhaps Lobster can post them?
I got my Joe Dart bass last week and I think it’s awesome, very good overall quality and playability but I don’t like the pickup. It has too much output and too middy for my taste. I might swap it out for something else or have someone wire it for me differently. P.S. Did you notice the headstock being smaller than the other “Music Man” type basses? 😊
Nearly went for the pre-order but it would have felt weirdly disloyal to my stingray. Nice to hear you rock some flats. No zingy new string business. I only recently found out Bernard Edwards used roundwounds but never changed them. This sounds like a p bass though and needs a tone control 😊
Cool review, although, I feel like you also reviewed, or showed off the pedals you were using. Maybe show them on screen in the future, and add it to the title. Maybe add just pedal reviews into what sounds best with what bass too. Thanks ! :-)
Lost the chance to order one (I admit, I forgot they were on sale after a while, and it was too late) but I gladly buy one if the were available again. The reselling price are probably nuts right now. So... we'll see I suppose. Also as a fellow "LaBellan" very open to give a chance to those Ernie Flats!
Love tour final thoughts about the number of limited edition and the speculation with the price ...Limited is ok...but with more examples..like Squire..HB..and bla..bla.. I have a question about the feeling with this Ernie ball..like tension..i think I could see that this are very flexible..is that right ?? Thanks a lot for the great time spending see your awesome review 😍🤗
Be interesting if you can review the very confusing;y named: Vintage Guitars REVO “Callan” bass (short scale bass with custom takes on a mudbucker and a thunderbird pickup. Double cut body shape reminds me of Brian May’s guitar) They should be about $599 new.
It doesn't even make that much difference to the sound, especially on bass. It's just that ceramic magnets tend to find their way into low quality, shrill pickups which leads people to believe it's the magnet ruining the sound, not the poor wire quality or lack of thought put into design.
I agree. I've had Stingray 5 basses from both ceramic and alnico eras and enjoyed both but always preferred the ceramic. Marketing and Internet folklore is real 😊
Love the review. The good news is they're planning to release them annually: per Joe Dart at Cory Wong's camp in August. I received mine a little over a month ago and can't put it down.

I came so close to pulling the trigger on this. Great deal. Another awesome review, thanks!

Yes, outside of the US they go up in price a lot
Good for you Lobster, glad you're living your life on your own terms. Thanks to your review on the Paranormal Rascal I've got my new main player.
Despite this being a bass I'm not remotely interested in, your videos are always a fun watch. You're the best crustacean

Wow, that Hello Kitty Fuzz sound shockingly good on bass, thanks for sharing! Great noodling!

I enjoyed this video a lot. Great Bass the Sterling Dart is better than I expected, and so was the Hello Kitty Fuzz.
Awesome review as always! I'd love to get my hands on one of these, so hopefully Sterling decides to put these into production again.

Solid review Lobster! I had to grab a kitty fuzz after this!
Love the review! You inspired me to get a poly blue octave pedal and I love it

i’ve been waiting for someone to play bass through that hello kitty fuzz, definitely need one lol
great video. best review of the jd bass out there right now.
Thank you!
Such a fun review! Any chance you could review the fretted version of the G&L Kiloton? A tone shootout with the Ray 2 would be cool too.
Nice rendition of Dean Town, I would have loved to hear some drums/backing with it. Loving your videos and positive energy as always :)
when you're demoing the microcosm, is it the only pedal on? because holy cow, i might need it now
I leave the Strymon on for the reverb and strings effect, they work nicely together
Got mine a couple weeks ago and I love it!
I adore your strap, where did you get it from.

how do these compare to the z line at sires? I gotta 5 string fretless ebmm might get another knockoff (gave my last one with the pbass pups added in to my niece)
Very different and more readily available. I would take the Z over this, but I appreciate the cool factor and the flats on the dart
Mine was also set up exceptionally well! The only thing I had to do was lower that pickup significantly to reduce the output. Once I did that, we were off to the races
Lets go!!!!!
Seems Like that Dart Hit the Bulls eye 🎯
The volume bein push/pull for series/parallel would becreally cool I think
Great review ❤
The giant white plastic knob looks like it came off a Fisher Price toy
What the binary??????
As an aside, does anyone know what happened to the USA Sterling? The web pages have been frozen in time for years.
I'm hoping to see maybe new colors at namm? You're right though, the US sterling is a bit neglected
I would love a review of the new schecter c4 standard, there is literally no footage of it on youtube and the charcoal satin finish looks awesome.
Joe Dart Joe Dart Joe Dart Joe Dart 😂
love the chorus time
Lob... stunning work.
I'm only here for the inspiration

Perhaps you can tell me, how is the feeling from the 2805 compare to others Flat, tension, stiffness , smooth, tone...?? Thank you
Was this bass oiled? if so what did you use, why, and was it worth it? Asking since I was thinking of applying lemon oil myself on it. Thanks!
It's finished so oil won't do anything but make a mess
